Question

How Do I Turn Off Alarm Widget?

I recently updated my Galaxy S2 SGH-1777 to Android 4.1.2 and used the alarm widget for the first time on 6/28/2013. I turned off the alarm when it sounded, but the alarm reset itself to go off again no matter what I tried, including pushing the Cancel option numerous times. How can I turn the alarm off and be sure that it stays off until I want to set a new alarm?

Hi JCrowson,

Thank you for your inquiry! Please try to do a soft reset on the phone by powering it off and removing the battery then placing it back again to reboot the handset. If you do not see any change after doing this, we recommend you clear the cache of the alarm application. You can do this by going to Menu>Settings>Application Manager>Select the Alarm Application>Select Clear Cache.

Question

My Galaxy S 2 is having issues with WiFi connectivity. Specifically It has a hard time connecting and staying connected

Always shows a poor signal when connected to networks when it should not. My wife has the same phone (purchased at the same time) and hers does not have an issue connecting to WiFi networks and shows better signal strength readings when connected. I am suspecting an issue with my phones antenna.

This happens to me sometimes too, I usually just go to my email in the web browser and check to see if there is anything there. There is usually one or two that won't get picked up by the app. Once you clear the mail in the web browser, go back to the mail app and it should be cleared.

Hi there!
Thank you for reaching out to us for support.
Are you referring to the PIN code of the SIM card inserted on the phone?
Please call your service provider regarding the issue of resetting the PIN code for your SIM card.
If this is in regards to the passcode to access the device, the default phone lock code of your phone is "0000" or "00000000". If the default phone lock code did not work then we can do a reset on the phone. If a factory reset is necessary, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Thanks for your inquiry!

The Samsung apps and Android OS is pretty much the same across the carriers, though each carrier does change the features slightly - such as font choices, camera options.

The biggest difference would be the software/apps that each carrier decides to pre-load onto the phone. Such as AT&T's Locker app, or Verizon's NFL Mobile app, etc.

AT&T and T-Mobile work on GSM networks.
Sprint and Verizon work on CDMA networks.

Question

What can I do about my phone overheating?

I have had to return my Galaxy S2 to Best Buy due to the phone overheating while charging. It got so hot it was too hot to hold and it would not boot even after it cooled down. The phone was not being used at all besides charging. I read on several forums that overheating can become a bothersome issue with these phones. When I say it was hot, it was extremely hot to the point that I could not hold it in my hand. What can I do to ensure that this does not occur again?
