Any software program that you know of that 'locks' little ones out?

I am trying to find a program that acts like Kid's Corner (which I have on my windows phone) that will allow my young grandson to play games on my Samsung ATIV Smart PC while not being able to access any other software on my tablet. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Question

why does keyboard become unresponsive even when docked properly?

When my ATIV is docked to the Samsung ATIV keyboard, the mouse and keyboard will become unresponsive after several minutes. It is not due to the tablet disconnecting from the keyboard. Each time it happens, I hold in the power button to turn the machine off. Then, when I turn it back on, the mouse and keyboard start work properly again. I never have to reconnect the tablet to the keyboard because it stayed connected the whole time. I just have to power it off and back on. Why is this happening all the time?

Question

If I try to load anything from my start screen it just crashes or goes to a grey screen.

I can't use my start screen at all. Every time I try to open an app (even the windows apps) they will crash or go to a grey screen. I have talked to both Windows Support and Samsung Support and they have basically come to the same conclusion that they can't fix it and transfer me to a new department. I have restored the tablet pc to a restore point. I have done a hard factory reset. I have done all of the appropriate updates to windows 8.1. The problem still exists. All I can think of now is that it is a hardware malfunction, or that I need to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1. What do you all think?

You will need to open the Settings software > Input > Turn the touchscreen off. The touch function won't work, but S Pen will.

Question

ATIV does not start

My ATIV Smart PC 500TC does not start now. I was updating the bios and left it on overnight because it was taking too long. Got up this morning and the tablet was off. Pressed the Win logo key and nothing... pressed the "on" button and nothing. The tablet was plugged in overnight and now it does not start at all.
No indicator lights are on. I've searched this forum and did the combination Volume Up / Power Button but nothing happens.

I attempted to launch this program to update the software and received this message:

Question

Samsung SW Update isn't opening.

Here is the error that I get whenever I try to open the SW Update.
At the top of the error box popup it says.

sManager.exe - Entry Point Not Found

Then the text in the box says .

The procedure entry poiny HttpDuplicateDependencyHandle could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\urlmon.dll.

I have updated this tablet to 8.1 after formatting it and doing a full install to Windows 8 and then did the 8.1 update.
It has ran fine for the past month or so except the SW Update will not work. Any way to remove the program and then reinstall it?

Graphics Driver Problems out of sleep mode

I recently updated this tablet to Windows 8.1. Since doing that, it takes the tablet about 5 seconds to get out of sleep mode. My lock screen flashes, then the screen goes black, then shows my keyboard language and wifi status, then flashes my lock screen again.

On the desktop, I get a notification: "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Also, I've noticed some wonky display problems in some Metro apps, such as Mail and Internet Explorer.

Is this an Intel driver problem? When will there be an update to fix it? It's not a dealbreaker, but it sure is annoying...

I had the same problem until checking on Windows Update on 11-21-13 where I saw "Intel(R) Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2 - Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator". I installed the driver and since then it's working like before installing the Windows 8.1 upgrade.

I've had the exact same issues. Returning from sleep mode crashes the updated Intel GMA driver. I rolled back the driver to the previous version via device manager, and its working great. I assume a fix to this updated driver will be released soon. I hope. I disabled windows update because its message to up date got really annoying.

Question

I have a couple of problems with my 500T

The first problem which seems to come and go is when booting with the keyboard attached. It will most of the time boot into BIOS and I have to go to Exit and select Boot Manager to get the unit to actually boot into Windows 8.1. Sometimes though it does work. Any ideas on what might be causing this weird behavior?

The second issue is with installing the GPS and Touchpad drivers via SWUpate. Both fail the installation with a failure of (-10). What am I doing wrong?

Creating Recovery Media then deleting Partition, Help Please!!

Samsung XE500T1C-A04US running Windows 8

Hello All,

I want to create Recovery Media on a USB flash drive, and then delete the Recovery Partition on the computer.

Can someone explain the proper procedure for such as the Samsung Support Agent's details weren't in line with other manufacture and what I would think standard procedures.

1# She stated I may not be able to perform a Recovery via a USB Flash stick, if I removed the Recovery Partition. They recommend using DVD Recovery Media? That seems incorrect as my notebook doesn't even come with a DVD player.

2# She also stated the Samsung Recovery Media #DVD's) only come with Windows 8 on it and no Samsung software? What about Samsung drivers and the SW Update or their Settings icon/utilities?

3) Lastly, does anyone know of any issues with loss of communication with Logitech v470 Bluetooth and this computer? I couldn't figure out how to re-establish communications?

We do not recommend you delete the Recovery Partition on your computer because if you ever needed to service the device in the future and this partition is missing, you will be charged a fee to restore it, regardless of your warranty status.

Question

S Pen not working

My S pen does not work. There was another question similar from 11 months ago; A person had said to disable and enable the driver with an exclamation ("Wacom Device" in my case) in the HID tab of device manager. This did not solve the problem. The Samsung support team had posted a link but the link was dead.

Related to the pen not working, I often get a window pop up titled "tablet use module for ISD driver" and it says "The tablet driver is not running". This window pops up roughly 1-2 minutes after every startup.

samsung Ativ 500t Boot error

I have Samsung Ativ 500t and suddenly the widows 8 gives an error restarted to the below massage;

security version mismatch detected. make sure you are updating to a new version of the system firmware or contact your support representative>

Error code = 0x10000001

wait 3 seconds to restart

once the Samsung logo appears, the massage flash again and again, and never log to the bios or startup windows.

Bluetooth & WiFi Interactivity Issues

I have been experiencing connectivity issues with my XE500T1C-A01US since I bought it in late April that must be cleared up, this tablet was far too expensive to not have promised functionality working when I do decide to use it. I had a lengthy email conversation in early May with a Samsung support rep who was not able to figure the problem out; however, I thought I had fixed it only to find today that it persists and I just have not been using that feature. Following is a list of the issues in the order they were noticed:
1) The tablet will forget a hidden network every time it is shut down or restarted, requiring me to either leave my router's SSID broadcast on or renter the necessary connection information every time I start or restart the tablet.
2) Bluetooth will pair with my Galaxy S III phone, my Jabra headset, my Sony stereo headphones, and my Dell laptop computer. However, I may only receive files from either my phone or laptop, I cannot send a file out to either device (I get an error stating the request could not be honored, then the FTP procedure is aborted). My two audio devices connect right away but the audio constantly breaks up while in use and the WiFi network pops up a yellow caution symbol that when checked, informs me that the network is limited (loses Internet connectivity). This happens every time I try to use audio through Bluetooth, including playing music from one PC to the other.
3) Windows easy settings provides me the option to disable NFC separately from WiFi and Bluetooth but the rear panel of the device does not have the NFC logo on it as shown in the instruction manual and my Galaxy S III will not recognize the tablet when I try to send a file via NFC, so does this tablet have NFC, or is there a driver problem causing Windows 8 to think there is an NFC card when one does not exist? Perhaps this issue is feeding both WiFi and Bluetooth issues?

I have been a Samsung fan for quite some time and I mist say that this problem is seriously making me reconsider my brand loyalty. It is entirely inexcusable for Samsung to release a product with this high of a price tag and having this many operational issues. If these problems are not successfully addressed soon this will be my LAST Samsung purchase as I will revert to HTC mobile phones and get an ASUS tablet as I considered doing when I made this purchase to begin with!
