Question

Wifi connection problems

After booting the wifi radio has a lot of trouble establishing a connection. I need to turn airplane mode on and off a dozen times in order to get a firm connection. The problem is not my access point since other devices connect fine and i have the same problem at work. will there be a driver update or other fix for this soon?

I had the same issue. Try this. Network and Sharing Center. Go to Set up new connection or network. Click on Manually connect to a wireless network. Type in your info and check mark the box "Start this connection automatically". Then press next. Once your done, restart the tablet and see if it connect the network automatically. Its works for me. Before I had to manually click on the connection.

This issue seems to be a driver issue. Everyone is having issues with the connection to the WiFi taking a long time to re-connect after sleep. I was reading on a review that this has been acknoleged by Samsung. The article says it could take up to 90 seconds for the device to re-connect to the WiFi.

Question

Java or Allshare Play issues?

I recently purchased this slate and have had some early issues with it. First, some of my programs that ran through java on my old computer will not work with this one. I have installed the recent Java software but still no luck.

Second, Allshare play will not work on the slate. I have a Galaxy S3 which works great, but once I install ASP on my slate, it will not open or work really at all. Anyone have any insights to this? I'm surprised at this issue particularly as it is Samsung native software.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. As at this point Windows 8 has been available for one week, there will be some compatibility problem for some time until the developers catch up. Allshare Play is currently listed as compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7. java likely has some compatibility issues with some of its features with Windows 8 as well. Hopefully, these problems will be resolved soon. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

It's a driver issue, it should be sorted out with an update through the SW updater.

If it still has issues go to the "Device manager" and select the "Human interface devices" tab and you should see a device with an "!" mark over it, right click (long press) on this device and select "DISABLE", then right click again and select "ENABLE" it'll work fine then (until it decides to stop working again...)

Samsung 500 AO4US and Bluetooth

I am on my second 500 tablet. On both of them after updating all the Samsung and Windows 8 updates the bluetooth refuses to connect to any of 4 bluetooth products that work fine with my other Windows 8 tablet. The first time I called Samsung the rep. said it was defective, so I swapped it for a new one that is doing the same thing making me think its a driver issue. Is anyone else having this problem? I guess I'll swap it out one more time, God only knows how many outlet tablets Samsung is going to end up with.

You can download a beta version of TouchPal keyboard from their website, but it's not official yet, it's a testing version. I hope they'll release to the windows store asap.

I will warn you again, it's working ok for me in metro mode, I can swipe and so on, but in desktop mode, I have problems with it.

Anyway, if you want, you can try it. I also hate tapping-oriented touchscreen keyboards, swypin' is so much better.

Question

Sometimes doesn’t wake up from sleep mode when it has MicroSD card inside.

I have been having problems with my ATIV Smart PC. It wasn’t responding when I pressed the power button to wake it from sleep, I had to press the power button about 10 seconds, then release it and press it again to get it on. The problem is intermittent; during the day could happen 2 or 3 times. I found that didn’t have problems when I use shutdown instead of sleep. Later I started disabling devices and pressing the power button to make it go to sleep mode to find out what was causing the problem. There were three “Intel SD Host Controller”, after disabling the second one started working as it supposed to. The second controller (from top to bottom) is the one that controls the Micro SD card. I had a Sandisk Ultra microSDXC with 64GB on the ATIV Smart PC all the time, I enabled all the devices and removed the Micro SD card and it went to sleep mode without problems again. Finally, I tried a 4GB Micro SD card and started having problems again.

Now to the question, is there any new or beta drivers I could try? Or something else I could try to fix the problem? I need the extra storage, only have like 25GB free with Windows 8 alone. The OS and drivers are up to date.

Thanks.

I finally fixed it. This Tuesday, after some new windows update patches, it started giving problems restarting saying that there was a problem during the last shutdown. Later I made a backup of my things and went to Settings -> Change PC Settings -> General -> remove everything and reinstall Windows. Used SW Update, to install the latest drivers and finally installed Windows Updates gradually and testing functionality. Later on copied back my things from the backup and the ATIV Smart PC it’s working as intended, even with the micro SD card inside.

Thanks.

Question

Graphics Driver Problems out of sleep mode

I recently updated this tablet to Windows 8.1. Since doing that, it takes the tablet about 5 seconds to get out of sleep mode. My lock screen flashes, then the screen goes black, then shows my keyboard language and wifi status, then flashes my lock screen again.

On the desktop, I get a notification: "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Also, I've noticed some wonky display problems in some Metro apps, such as Mail and Internet Explorer.

Is this an Intel driver problem? When will there be an update to fix it? It's not a dealbreaker, but it sure is annoying...

I've had the exact same issues. Returning from sleep mode crashes the updated Intel GMA driver. I rolled back the driver to the previous version via device manager, and its working great. I assume a fix to this updated driver will be released soon. I hope. I disabled windows update because its message to up date got really annoying.

I had this same problem and was also afraid to force the plug any further into the outlet. However, I found that the outlet is just very tight and if you gently but firmly push the plug in further, you will feel a soft click and the plug will lock into place. Once that happens it will stay in place and pivot as needed while you use the tablet without losing connection. This stiffness lessens over time so that it is easier to get a proper connection without feeling like you will damage the outlet.
