Question

Is it normal to have rust spots on the debris filter?

I have had the WF448AAP for about a year now. I clean the debris filter as recommended about once a month. A few months ago I noticed a rust stain developing on the plastic filter. It has been getting larger and today is quite significant. What should be done? There must be a metal part next to the filter which is rusting.

Thanks for the question. I would suggest washing the filter in warm soapy water to remove any stains or deposits that may have accumulated there from the drained water. Though the debris filter itself is primarily plastic, if a metal object (such as a button or zipper) was in the filter for a prolonged period of time it could have become corroded. Samsung recommends cleaning the filter on a regular basis.

If you find the filter itself is damaged, please visit SamsungParts.com for information and availability of a replacement part.

Wash machine problem

Model number is WF448AAP/XAA. A warning message appears saying " low water pressure - call for service" but once I drain the water from the drain hose, all is well for a while. What could be the cause?

I'm sorry to hear you're getting this error message on your washer. Please make sure your home's water pressure is at the recommended 20-116psi. Turn off the water valves and remove the hoses, then remove and clean the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer. Replace the screens and the hoses, then turn the water valves on all the way. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to have a service technician evaluate the cause of the issue, including whether water in the drain hose is related in any way. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with the washer draining. Please make sure there are no bends or kinks in the drain hose that could effect the draining, and make sure the hose is raised as indicated in the attached illustration, which can also be found on page 11 of the user manual. The manual can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website. Be sure the hose is not inserted more than 6" into the standpipe and that an airtight connection is NOT made between the drain hose and the pipe.

If the problem persists, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

My washer does not drain water properly, especially after towels or bedding. Water even backs up into the softener and detergent containers.

How can I properly drain the washer? I know my husband has drained it multiple times, but I feel like this is happening too often. How can I optimize the washer, and first of all how do I drain it?

It's not unusual to have a small amount of water remaining in the detergent drawer at the end of the cycle. However, more than a small amount may indicate that the washer is not properly leveled, and is leaning forward somewhat. I would suggest using a carpenter's level to check both front to back and side to side leveling, ensuring that the bubble on the level is perfectly centered. Run a Spin Only or Rinse and Spin cycle with no clothes to determine if there is any vibration, then fine-tune the adjustment to ensure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to minimize any vibration. Once the leveling is complete, be sure to screw the plastic leg locks into place as far up as they'll go so the legs don't become loose and change their position over time.

Question

Why does our washer sound like a jackhammer during the spin cycle?

Our washer was just delivered today (WF448AAP/XAA) and on any size load, as it enters into the spin cycle and sometimes throughout the cycle, there is intense knocking and vibration. The washer is level and sits directly on the floor.

this is a guess: but I read a review from another consumer who had the same issue, but then they found out that the shipping bolts had not been removed. After they removed the bolts, their washer was whisper-quiet as advertised. I just purchased my washer/dryer set last week, we ware washing at least 2 loads a day, and it is truly SUPER QUIET. Good luck!

How long does the Silver element in the Silvercare last?

The SilverCare kit in the WF448AAW lasts for 1000 cycles. To put this in perspective, if you select the SilverCare option for two loads each week, the silver plates will last nearly ten years; four times per week, and it would last five years. Samsung recommends using SilverCare at least once or twice a week to help keep the washdrum odor and mildew-free.

You can determine whether the part is ready to be replaced by pressing the SilverCare and Signal buttons simultaneously. LU1 indicates less than 1000 cycles of SilverCare have been used; when the code reads LU0, more than 1000 cycles have been run, and it's time to replace the part. Samsung recommends scheduling a service appointment to replace the part. You can contact Samsung for service by submitting an online service request through the link below or calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

The product dimensions for the WF448AAP are 27" (w) x 39" (h) x 32" (d). The drain pan would need to be at least 27" x 32" to fit beneath the washer.
