If power is lost in the middle of a cycle, the WF448AAP should resume where it left off when power is restored. If the washer does not restart automatically, and does not permit you to start over, it is possible that the outage was accompanied by a surge which could damage the controls. In this case, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent for further assistance.

Many Samsung washers, including the WF448AAP, have a panel on the front of the washer that provides access to a drain hose and debris filter. Instructions for cleaning the debris filter on these models can be found on page 22 of the User Manual or through the link below; when the Guide opens, select "How To > Cleaning The Debris Filter": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Thank you for the question. While running a full load in the washer, which could include towels in addition to sheets and pillow cases, may help to reduce the "balling up" because items wouldn't have as much freedom to move around and get twisted, the physics in the dryer is very different from the washer. It is not unusual for sheets to twist and ball up in most washers. When removing items from the washing machine, I would suggest shaking them out to untangle and separate them before placing them in the dryer.

Question

Is there a way to change the "cycle end" song on this washer (WF350ANR) and the accompanying drier?

At first I liked the songs, but after a few hundred runs they started to become annoying. Being able to replace them by other "ring tones" would be very nice.

Thank you for the question. The WE357A7P and WE357A0P are both compatible with the DV448AEP dryer and WF448AAP washer. The WE357A0P has a new Quick Install system for attaching the pedestal to the washer and dryer; the WE357A7P comes with the necessary hardware to attach the laundry units to the pedestal. Both provide a sturdy, secure attachment and convenient storage.

Like most front load washers, the door on the WF448AAP opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible.

Why is my washer leaking water into the drum when the power is off?

answer 1
It is not unusual for water to appear to run into the drum after a cycle, since the area around the drum may still be wet and dripping a bit. In addition, if the washer is not level, and is leaning forward a bit, there may be some residual water collected in the detergent drawer that is draining. Please check to make sure the machine is level using a carpenter's level, and adjust the legs if necessary to correct it, being sure to follow the complete leveling instructions available on this website to prevent vibration.

You could also try turning off the water valves to determine the source of the water. If it is merely moisture settling after the cycle, there is nothing to worry about. If you determine after turning the valves back on that the washer is allowing water to enter when it is off, it may require service. To program the Delay Start, select your cycle settingspress the Delay Start button repeatedly until the number on the display indicates the number of hours you'd like to delay it for. Question

Is there a setting in the washers computer that will give me more water in my wash load?

My clothes, especially my towels smell mildewed. I wash them on the sanitize setting every time, take them out immediately and dry them immediately. I wipe out the water in the rubber gasket and under it, EVERYTIME I wash a load. I NEVER close the washer door when it's not in use. I use the Affresh tablets, and it still has the mildewed oder. I need to have more water in the wash load. Is this possible by resetting it somehow in the washers' computer?? I feel like if the clothes washed and rinsed in more water they wouldn't smell.

I'm sorry to hear you have a mildew odor in your WF448AAP. This odor is caused by bacteria that is introduced to the washing machine from the water supply, dirty laundry and other environmental factors, and can get trapped in soap residue on the outside of the drum and in the gaskets and dispenser. While the water level cannot be manually adjusted, Samsung has developed technology for addressing this issue.

Besides the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include several of those you've mentioned - running empty sanitize cycles with bleach, wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads - it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent.

The WF448 is also equipped with SilverCare, an option that can be added to most cycles simply by pressing the SilverCare button at the start of the cycle. SilverCare can be used in any temperature water and is safe for colors and delicates. This feature releases silver ions which are highly effective in eliminating 99.99% of bacteria. To treat the odor that has already developed, I would suggest cleaning your washer thoroughly by wiping it down with a bleach solution, then adding SilverCare to your regular laundry routine moving forward - using it at least twice a week to remove the odor causing bacteria from both the washer and your towels.

Question

Our new WF448APP/XAA washer is making some banging noises in the spin cycle which doesn't seem right for all the press on vibration reduction.

Is it already time to schedule a service call? We are just a 50/60 year old working couple and a lot of stuff goes to the drycleaners. This machine isn't dealing with very much work at this point.

Question

Mixed full load almost always causes the spin cycle to be aborted.

Thanks for the question. When installed and functioning correctly, the WF448 washer should be able to spin mixed loads, including towels, at even the highest spin speeds. While there may occasionally be a need to reposition items if there is a significant imbalance, this should not be the norm.

I would suggest following the link below to the Troubleshooting Guide, then selecting Operation ► Clothes Are Very Wet At The End Of The Wash Cycle / Will Not Spin At High Speeds: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article should help you determine what might be causing this issue. The most common cause is that it is not leveled properly, so I would suggest clicking through to that link from the article for further instructions.

If none of the solutions offered help to resolve the issue, there is also a link to request service at the bottom of the page.

Question

Low water pressure alarm

Hi,
I notice the low water pressure alarm question is coming up more often recently. Perhaps there is a batch of poorly set pressure sensor alarms out there ......
Here are our symptoms:
1) We purchased these around Nov.30, 2010
2) SInce then, the washer has stopped 6 to 8 times on a "low water pressure alarm" with a messsage to call the service tech.
3) It is odd that the alarm ALWAYS (without exception) has occurred at the final RINSE phase in the wash cycle and always at 11 minutes left in the overall wash cycle.
4) Simply pressing the start button clears the alarm and restarts the wash cycle to completion

The water pressure in our house is 60 PSI (regulator controlled), so I opened the regulator and checked the incoming screen. First time I checked this in seven years and it was still perfectly clean, but rather coarse mesh (just under a millimeter). It will keep rocks out of the system, but not much else, lol.

Next I took the hoses off the washer (hot and cold) and checked the finer inlet screens. Both were perfectly clean. However, I noticed that the orifice from the hose bib itself was only about 1/4 inch in diameter (ID). The hoses themselves are only about 1/2 inch OD. Could it be that Samsung has changed the hose size it is supplying with the washers, and the small orifice is causing the problem? I thought I read somewhere earlier in the site that the hoses were supposed to be 3/4 inch diameter (but that may have been referring to the drain...).

Also, unrelated question, but I noticed another reader had also asked how to start a second wash cycle without having to turn the power off and on. Any solution to that? It's minor, but it would be nice to just be able to start and select a second load.

Thank you for the detailed question! If your home's water pressure is within the recommended specification (which it is at 60 psi) and you've checked the water supply and inlet hose screens for blockage (which you have), then your washer will likely require service to determine why the low pressure sensors are triggering an error code. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Online service request form: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/o...

With regard to the second question, the washers are designed to turn off between loads. One press of the Power button will turn it back on so you can select the next cycle.
