Question

How do I get my washer to stop shaking in the spin cycle?

I just hooked my washer up and started a load. It is connected to a pedistal. Once it hits the spin cycle it starts shaking erratically. It is solidly balanced on the floor. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The first thing you should check is that all four shipping bolts are removed. If the shipping bolts are removed, then the washer may still require some "fine-tuning" of the leveling to enable the Vibration Reduction Technology to work properly, even though it may appear that it is solidly balanced on the floor. Please click on the following link, then select "Installation" > "Vibration Issues On Initial Installation": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article will walk you through the necessary adjustments to ensure the machine is properly leveled to minimize vibration. Please also make sure the pedestal is correctly attached and the bolts are tightened thoroughly. In reading through the steps in the article, make the adjustments described to the pedestal feet since the washer feet were removed to install the pedestal. If, after completing these steps, you continue to have this issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

One final note: if the shipping bolts were removed prior to delivery, and the machine was turned on its side or upside down at any point, it's possible that the drum's suspension was compromised, which would require service to diagnose and fix. Please try the steps for leveling first, then contact the 800-number for additional support if necessary.

I'm sorry to hear you have an odor in your WF448AAP. This odor is likely caused by bacteria that is introduced to the washing machine from the water supply, dirty laundry and other environmental factors, and can get trapped in soap residue on the outside of the drum and in the gaskets and dispenser. Besides the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include running empty sanitize cycles with bleach, wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads, it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent. In addition, Samsung has developed other options for treating this issue.

The WF448 is equipped with SilverCare, an option that can be added to most cycles simply by pressing the SilverCare button at the start of the cycle. SilverCare can be used in any temperature water and is safe for colors and delicates. This feature releases silver ions which are highly effective in eliminating 99.99% of bacteria.

To treat the odor that has already developed, I would suggest cleaning your washer thoroughly by wiping it down with a bleach solution, then adding SilverCare to your regular laundry routine moving forward - using it at least twice a week to remove the odor causing bacteria from both the washer and your clothes.

To reinsert the shipping bolts, place them through the holes on the back of the washer and screw them into the corresponding holes on the back of the drum. If necessary, you could remove the lid of the washer by removing the screws on the back of the machine that hold the lid in place. This may help by providing a better view of the back of the drum to align the shipping bolts with the holes.

Thank you for the question. It's not unusual for water to not be visible, partially because of the low water use of this and other front load machines, and partially because of Samsung's drums being tilted toward the back. To determine whether the water is at the appropriate level in your machine, please click on the following link, then select "Operation" > "There is No Water Or Not Enough Water": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article also includes troubleshooting tips for addressing a low-water level.

If the fabric softener remains in the dispenser at the end of the wash cycle, it is likely that either:
- the dispenser drawer is clogged;
- the water is not reaching the compartment with enough pressure to flush the softener out;
- the washer is not level.

Try removing the drawer and rinsing it thoroughly with warm water to remove all detergent residue. Next, place a carpenter's level on top of the washing machine, checking both front to back and side to side leveling. If the washer is leaning forward, it may prevent the drawer from draining properly. Adjust the leveling legs as necessary, running a test "spin only" cycle before tightening the leg locks to be sure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to prevent vibration. Finally, clean the inlet water hose filter screens and make sure the water valves are turned back on all the way.

If the problem still persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further and schedule service if necessary.

The WF448 is designed to release the fabric softener into the drum during the last rinse cycle, which is the optimal time so it does not get washed out of the clothes with the detergent. To help ensure the fabric softener will drain at the appropriate time, make sure your water pressure is sufficiently strong (20-116 psi is recommended), check water hose inlet screens for blockage, and wash the detergent drawer thoroughly in warm water to remove any residue that could block the passages.

Question

Is there a setting in the washers computer that will give me more water in my wash load?

My clothes, especially my towels smell mildewed. I wash them on the sanitize setting every time, take them out immediately and dry them immediately. I wipe out the water in the rubber gasket and under it, EVERYTIME I wash a load. I NEVER close the washer door when it's not in use. I use the Affresh tablets, and it still has the mildewed oder. I need to have more water in the wash load. Is this possible by resetting it somehow in the washers' computer?? I feel like if the clothes washed and rinsed in more water they wouldn't smell.
