To put this in perspective, if you select the SilverCare option for two loads each week, the silver plates will last nearly ten years; four times per week, and it would last five years. Samsung recommends using SilverCare at least once or twice a week to help keep the wash drum odor and mildew-free.
You can determine whether the part is ready to be replaced by pressing the SilverCare and Signal buttons simultaneously. LU1 indicates less than 1000 cycles of SilverCare have been used; when the code reads LU0, more than 1000 cycles have been run, and it's time to replace the part. Samsung recommends scheduling a service appointment to replace the part.
