I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your washer. If water is not entering the drum, try turning the water valves off, removing the hoses and cleaning the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer. Replace the screens and hoses, then turn the valves back on all the way. If water still won't enter when you start a cycle, service may be necessary to determine the cause. Please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

What is the best way to clean around the rubber on my W409ANWXAA washer?

When cleaning around the rubber door rim, I noticed if I pulled it away from the door, there was goopy slime under the rim and on the white plastic under the rubber. Will I damage the seal by pulling this away to clean it and what is the best way to keep this clean. I leave the door open when the machine is not in use, as instructed in the manual.

Thanks for the question. The best way to clean the rubber gasket is to wipe it down regularly with a bleach solution and leave the door open when not in use. I would not suggest pulling the gasket away from the door too much, since this could affect its ability to seal tightly if it becomes distorted or is not seated correctly.

I'm sorry to hear your washer has a musty smell. Odor-causing bacteria can be introduced to the washer from the home's water supply, the dirty laundry, and other environmental factors, so it is important to follow some basic maintenance procedures, in addition to leaving the door open between loads, to help reduce or avoid odors altogether.

The WF409 is equipped with an internal water heater, so I would suggest running a Sanitize cycle with bleach and no clothes at least once a month. Wiping down the door and gaskets and washing out the detergent drawer with warm water periodically can help as well.

It is also very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent to help prevent oversudsing which can lead to odor because the suds can leave residue on the drum which traps bacteria. Samsung also recommends cleaning the debris filter, which is accessible through the panel on the front of the washer. Instructions can be found in the User Manual, which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Bacteria that can cause odors and lead to mold can be introduced to the washer from the home's water supply, the dirty laundry, and other environmental factors, so it is important to follow some basic maintenance procedures to help reduce or avoid this issue altogether. First, to remove mold that has already developed, wash the gaskets down with a bleach or vinegar solution, both of which can be very effective in treating mold. Be sure to rinse the area well with soap and water once the mold is removed.

Here are some recommendations for maintaining your washer moving forward. The WF409 is equipped with an internal water heater, so I would suggest running a Sanitize cycle with bleach and no clothes at least once a month. Wiping down the door and gaskets with a bleach solution and washing out the detergent drawer with warm water periodically can help as well. Question

Normal wash cycle time increased

When I purchased my washer and dryer (409 models) a little over a year ago, the cycle time for the normal cycle was was around 53 minutes. It has steadily increased over the past year and is up to 1 hour and 8 minutes no matter what size the loads are. Do you know what would cause this?

The cycle times in your washer can vary from original estimates based on a number of factors, including water pressure and temperature, as well as whether the machines are leveled properly, and which cycles and options are selected. Are you certain the 1 hour and 8 minute time is based on exactly the same cycle and options as the original 53 minute estimate? I would suggest checking your home's water pressure and water valves to make sure they're open completely and there is no blockage in the inlet hose screens which could effect both pressure and overall temperature of the supplied water. I would also suggest running a Sanitize cycle with bleach and cleaning the debris filter thoroughly. If the estimated time displayed on your washer continues to increase, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether your washer will require service.

Like most front load washers, the door on the WF409ANW opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible.

I'm sorry to hear your washer is not draining properly. If the debris filter is clear, please check the drain hose for bends or kinks that could cause blockage and make sure the hose is not inserted too far into the drain pipe. If the problem persists, your WF409 may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

It's not unusual to have a small amount of water remaining in the detergent drawer at the end of the cycle. However, more than a small amount may indicate that the washer is not properly leveled, and is leaning forward somewhat. I would suggest using a carpenter's level to check both front to back and side to side leveling, ensuring that the bubble on the level is perfectly centered. Run a Spin Only or Rinse and Spin cycle to determine if there is any vibration, then fine-tune the adjustment to ensure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to minimize any vibration. Once the leveling is complete, be sure to screw the plastic leg locks into place as far up as they'll go so the legs don't become loose and change their position over time.

The capacity comparisons that are available for Samsung washers are based on comforter size or standard 24" x 44" bath towels, not pillow sizes. The 4.3 cubic foot capacity WF409 can fit a king-size comforter or the equivalent of 26 standard bath towels.

Question

For washer WF338AAW the washer now makes a loud buzzing sound when the water inlet pump turns on.

For washer WF338AAW the washer now makes a loud buzzing sound when the water inlet pump turns on. What is causing this and does this signify problems with the inlet pump? Does the pump have to be replaced and if so, why would it fail after only two years of operation?

I'm sorry to hear your WF338 is making a loud buzzing sound. Please check the following:
- Is anything leaning against or in contact with the pipes, hoses or washer that could be causing the noise as a result of the pump's vibration?
- Check water inlet hose screens for blockage.
- Are both inlet supply valves turned on fully?
- Try removing the detergent drawer and rinsing it thoroughly to ensure there is nothing trapped that could be obstructing the water flow.
- Are you certain the sound is coming from the washer rather than from the pipes? If the sound is originating in the pipes, please contact a plumber.

If none of these suggestions helps to resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether the washer requires service.
