Samsung's current line up of electric dryers, including the DV328AEx, have 4-way venting, meaning they can vent out of the back, bottom, left or right. The gas dryers, which have 3-way venting, can vent out of the back, bottom or left side. Either way you're fine with bottom venting.

My dryer has only 2 venting options, out the back at the bottom or out the left side toward the back. I use the backside bottom vent hole and vent to the outside air using a flexible vent hose. If you wanted to capture the dryer heat and put it to good use by supplying some secondary heat to your house, buy an interior vent kit with a lint filter and install per the directions. This application is for ELECTRIC DRYERS ONLY.

Not sure of the electric, the gas 328 model does vent out the bottom. But if you are using a pedestal, there is no opening. You either have to cut a hole in the bottom or remove the bottom piece of sheet metal.

Thank you for the question. Though the WF328 does not have a "soak" cycle, per se, it does have a Pre-wash option which can be added to most cycles - see image below (excerpted from page 13 of the User Manual) for instructions. You may also want to review the Cycle Chart below (from page 25 of the User Manual) for information on times and options for the various cycles, since a longer wash time can reasonably be assumed to have longer "soak" times as well.

I'm sorry to hear your towels have an odor after washing and drying. Odor is usually caused by bacteria that is introduced to the washing machine from the water supply, dirty laundry and other environmental factors, and can get trapped in soap residue on the outside of the drum and in the gaskets and dispenser. Besides the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include running empty sanitize cycles with bleach, wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads, it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent. In addition, Samsung has developed another option for treating this issue.

The WF328 is equipped with SilverCare, an option that can be added to most cycles simply by pressing the SilverCare button at the start of the cycle. SilverCare can be used in any temperature water and is safe for colors and delicates. This feature releases silver ions which are highly effective in eliminating 99.99% of bacteria.

To treat the odor that has already developed, I would suggest cleaning your washer thoroughly by wiping it down with a bleach solution, then adding SilverCare to your regular laundry routine moving forward - using it at least twice a week to remove the odor causing bacteria from both the washer and your towels and other laundry.

Thank you,

I had the same problem until I started using the Silvercare option. Whenever I wash towels, I use this option and I no longer get "fishy" smelling towels. You may need to wash your towels with this option more than once before the order is removed. On some Samsung washers Silvercare is called ActiveFresh. It also helps to use the Silvercare option at least one every week.

The code "dc" indicates an unbalanced load condition is preventing your washer from spinning properly. Try redistributing the load and pressing the Start/Pause button. If this does not resolve the issue, I would suggest checking the leveling on your WF328. Click on the link below, then select "Operation" > "Washer Vibrations": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If, after following the advice given, your washer continues to vibrate excessively or produce the "dc" error code, it may require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

It means that you have an unbalanced load. My machine works best if I avoid small loads (such as a single rug or blanket). I always put two towels in with these kind of items and then I don't have any load balancing problems.

Thanks for the question. Not all WF328AAWs have an accessible debris filter. You would know if you have one by the small access panel located on the front of the machine under the washer door. You can view this short video for help identifying the debris filter and instructions for cleaning it, if you do have one: http://support-us.samsung.com/spsn/...

Thanks for the question. Samsung's rule of thumb is that a 4.0 cubic foot washer, like the WF328AAW, can fit a king size comforter or 23 standard 24" x 44" bath towels. I can't tell you how many pairs of jeans can fit since jean sizes vary so much.

Because of the variances in cloth density, and jean sizes, it is impossible to quote exact numbers. I general rule of thumb is a full load equals the drum being about 3/4 full.

Question

WF328AAW washer odor

I have had my WF328AAW since 21Oct.2009 and several times I have had foul smelling clothes. Each time the smell is different, and only some of the clothes in the load will smell, not the entire load!!!

Is there some kind of maintenance or cleaning cycle I need to be doing? What could be causing this?

Try and incorporate a load of cloths using the "sanatize" option at least weekly. This option uses a built in water heater to raise the temperature of the water during the wash cycle to a level necessary to kill the bacteria that is causing this smell. Also a quik wipe out the door seal with a towel that is on its way into the washer from time to time will go a long way toward maintaining a fresh washer.

Like other front load washing machines, there are some basic care and maintenance tips that will help keep your WF328 free of the mold and mildew odor which can sometimes develop as a result of bacteria in the clothes and water. Typical maintenance involves leaving the washer door open between loads to keep air circulating, wiping the door and gasket periodically, and running a sanitize cycle once a month. For more information, see page 18 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded from this website.

In addition, the SilverCare feature on the WF328 enables you to eliminate the mold and mildew from your washer and clothes at the same time, without using additives, like bleach, and hot water. Simply use SilverCare once or twice a week as part of your regular laundry routine, and your washer and clothes should smell fresh and clean.

Thanks for the question. Mold and mildew are the result of bacteria introduced to the washer through the water supply and other environmental factors. While the wash drum, gaskets and laundry can benefit from the WF328's SilverCare feature for help controlling the bacteria, the detergent dispenser must be cleaned by removing it, and wiping down or rinsing with hot water and a vinegar or bleach solution. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly after using any cleaners to ensure they do not get flushed into the next wash load. If you're unsure, you can run a Rinse and Spin cycle to flush the lines.

You can do this as frequently as you need to in order to prevent the growth of mold and mildew in your washer. Leaving both the washer door and the detergent drawer open between loads can help keep these areas dry and aired out, which can also help to control bacteria and mold.

I was told by the lady that sold me my washer that the same thing happens to the inside of the door, and to leave it cracked open so as not to trap moisture inside. Maybe the same thing would work for the dispenser drawer? Also I think they make a washing machine cleaning solution that might help.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your WF328AAW. This model does have Vibration Reduction Technology which is extremely effective in reducing noise and vibration during top spin speeds as long as the washer is installed and functioning properly. Please visit the Troubleshooting Guide through the link below, then select "Operation" > "Washer Vibrations": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article will walk you through possible causes of the washer vibration, and will help you determine whether this is something you can fix through adjustments to the leveling, for example, or if the washer will require service.

answer 2
It is not unusual to have a small amount of vibration at the beginning of the spin cycle, but this should virtually disappear by the time the spin speed gets up to medium (about 400 RPM). Furthermore, some noises are normal and can be reduced by properly leveling the washer. If the noise you're hearing at the start and end of the cycle sounds a bit like metal balls hitting each other, they are the ball bearings in the Vibration Reduction Technology rings that are shifting their positions; this noise is normal.

I would suggest reviewing the leveling procedure to make sure your WF328 is set up to maximize the benefits of the Vibration Reduction Technology. Click on the link below to open the Troubleshooting Guide, then select "Installation ► Installation Procedure ► STEP 5 Leveling": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If water remains in your fabric softener compartment after the cycle is complete, it is likely that either the dispenser is clogged or the machine is not level and, more specifically, is leaning forward a bit. Please click on the following link to open the Troubleshooting Guide, then select Operation ► Excessive Amounts Of Water And/Or Detergent Remain In the Dispenser: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article should help to resolve the issue.

Your dispenser may be clogged. Follow the instructions in your owner's manual to remove the dispenser tray and clean it thoroughly with hot water.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We have consulted with our resident home appliance expert and he indicates that the reason that the water is not hot immediately is the same reason it's not hot when you first turn on the water in the bathtub. It will take some time to get warm/hot.

Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

If you have a sink close to the washer try running the hot water tap there until you get hot water then try the washer.

Question

Different load amounts that fit in the 328 washer.

With the 328 washer, what are the different maximum amounts of clothing you can put in the washer? For example, how many towels, jeans, clothes, in general, can be washed at one time? How do you know if you have too many items in the washer at one time? Is there a chart for this anywhere?

Samsung's rule of thumb is that a 4.0 cubic foot washer, like the WF328AAW, can fit a king size comforter or 23 standard 24" x 44" bath towels. I can't tell you how many pairs of jeans can fit since jean sizes vary so much.

Because of the way front loaders wash, tumbling the load through the water rather than submerging the load under water as in top loaders, you will likely find that you can fit more than you could in a typical top loader. I would recommend leaving enough space to be able to reach in and shift items around with your hand, which should be an indication that they'll be able to shift around during the cycle, as well. I would also suggest perusing the User Manual, along with the FAQs and Troubleshooting pages on this website. These resources offer many tips and a lot of useful information to help guide you as you get used to your Samsung front loader.

I hope this helps. Thank you for choosing Samsung!

You can wash snakers in this machine. It is recommended that you wash other items, such as towels to prevent an unbalanced load
