Questions & Answers for samsung 4.0 cu. ft. Washer

Question

Why does my washer continuously spin?

During the final spin cycle, the time remaining will reset from 5 or 6 minutes to 10 minutes. This will happen 3 or 4 times during a normal load. The draining seems to be working fine. I have it set to High speed spin, if that matters.

The hard part is to find the part number for the bearing on your particular model Ihad the same problem with my machine the parts lists do not give you any specifics, bought the machine in 2008. Was told by the Tech that checked mine that they would replace the motor because of damage caused by the worn bearing.Estimate was 689.00.Bought a new washer. Front loaders have a short life.

Remove the machine top and front this will expose most of the lower internal parts. Be careful the door seal is held in place by a spring clamp if you break or bend it the door will no longer seal. there is a removable panel on the rear of the machine, don't know if you can access the drain valve from there.Best advice never ever buy a front load washer again they are not user friendly to repair and have a short useable life 6-7 years average

Question

Washer keeps getting error code nF (for any wash type selected).

Checked all hot /cold hose valve connection (including cleaning the hose supply connection screen), all are functioning correctly. Checked pcb connectors and all are not loose. Did test mode and it showed that the water is filling, the motor is running, door does lock/unlock, and it is draining.
Able to operate the washer manually by using Demo mode once the nF is encountered. In Demo mode, used Temp to perform the Wash and Rinse.
Used Spin Only to drain.

Unit was purchased just 2 yrs 10 months ago.

Like most front load washers, the door on the WF218 opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible.

Question

Why is my washer dancing across the floor during spin?

The washer was leveled during installation and ran smoothly for a long time without any movement. There have been absolutely no changes made to anything but suddenly every spin cycle causes the maching to move approx 8 to 10 inches out of position. Makes no difference when redisttribute load, use lighter loads. I have checked level, made some minor adjustments and it is dead on level across all planes. The machine is still moving during spin.

I'm sorry to hear your washer has started "dancing". Even when leveled properly upon installation, the legs can change position if they were not securely locked in position by turning the plastic leg locks. The washer may appear level, but if you're able to rock it at all when applying pressure to each side, then it will need to be readjusted. Please click on the following link to view a short how-to video on troubleshooting vibration: http://support-us.samsung.com/spsn/...

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Odor-causing bacteria that can lead to mold can be introduced to the washer from the home's water supply, the dirty laundry, and other environmental factors, so it is important to follow some basic maintenance procedures to help reduce or avoid mold and odors altogether.

The WF218 is equipped with an internal water heater, so I would suggest running a Sanitize cycle with bleach and no clothes at least once a month. Wiping down the door and gaskets and washing out the detergent drawer with warm water periodically can help as well. It is also very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent to help prevent oversudsing which can lead to odor because the suds can leave residue on the drum which traps bacteria. Samsung also recommends cleaning the debris filter, which is accessible through the panel on the front of the washer. Instructions can be found in the User Manual, which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website.

The WF218 requires power in order to unlock the door if it was locked when the power was lost. However, you can drain the water from the drum so the clothes are not soaking indefinitely by accessing the drain hose through the front panel. Be sure to have a large container available when draining the washer since it could have several gallons inside if it stopped mid-cycle.

Question

What is the matter with my washer and how do I fix it?

The washer turns on and off and makes the sound to the point where it locks the doors. However, the screen says wash, rinse, and spin instead of normally progressing the cycle but the washer is not washing anything, just making motorized sounds. Additionally, there is still dirty water in the washer meaning it hasn't drained. I have checked the filter, fuse, and drain hose and they all appear normal-no codes have appeared on the washer but it was making a beeping sound earlier.

Thanks for the question. It's normal for "Wash > Rinse > Spin" to be illuminated on the display throughout the cycle on most models, and it's also normal for the washer to start, stop and make sounds during different stages. The washer would typically display an "nf" or "nd" error code if it was not able to fill or drain properly, but if yours does not appear to be progressing through a cycle or if there is a significant amount of water remaining at the end of the cycle, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to help determine whether your WF218 will require service.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your washing machine. Washing a towel that has dish soap on it should not, in and of itself, damage the washer. If the dish soap caused an oversudsing condition, however, it may be necessary to empty the washer and run one or more Rinse & Spin cycles in order to clean it out. Please either submit a new question with additional information, such as error codes or specific symptoms you're experiencing, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The washer should not turn on by itself unless you have the Delay Start programmed. If by "turning on" you mean the cycle actually started, this should not happen when the door is open. If the door is open and a Delay Start cycle was not programmed but the washer is turning on by itself, it will likely require service.
