I would need additional information in order to answer your question directly. What I can tell you is that the WF218 measures 31.1" deep with the door closed; and 51.18" with the door open 90°. See the image below for additional unit dimensions.

For closet and alcove installation, Samsung recommends leaving 4" to the rear, and 2" to the front of the closet. See the other image below for minimum clearances for alcove and closet installation.

My guess is your available depth will not be enough to fit the WF218, since you'll likely need more than 2" behind the unit for the hoses and connections, as well as some space in front.

Thanks for considering Samsung!

Like most front-loaders, the door on the WF218ANW opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible. Instructions to reverse the dryer door can be found in the User Manual, which can be downloaded from this website for your convenience.

Question

load noise when water being pumped out of machine

I have a Samsung front-load washing machine, WF218ANW purchased in 11/08 and delivered in 2/09 and it recently started making a load noise which seems to happen only when the water is being pumped out of the machine. Any idea what could be causing this? I tried the suggestions in the user manual for load noises but to no avail. Looking forward to hearing from you

I'm sorry to hear you're have this issue with your WF218ANW. The sound of the pump can be audible while the washer is draining, but if it's gotten louder after over a year of use it may need to be cleaned or serviced. I would suggest first cleaning the debris filter by following the instructions available through the following link: http://tinyurl.com/2f4hvwf

If the noise persists, then you may need to request service to have the drain and pump checked. You may either contact your retailer or Samsung to determine your service options by calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

The "FL" code indicates that the WF218ANW failed to lock the door, which would prevent the machine from running. If this happens again, close the door tightly and restart the cycle. If the code reappears, your washer may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The life expectancy of any appliance is difficult to predict, and there are many factors which can impact its longevity. What I can tell you is that the manufacturer's warranty on the WF218ANW includes the following:
- One year parts and labor
- Two years on the control board
- Three years on the stainless steel tub
- Five years on the motor.

More details about the warranty can be found on this website or on page 26 of the User Manual.

Sometimes Samsung washing machines which had been very quiet may start to vibrate because the leveling legs have changed position. This can happen if the plastic leg locks were not screwed up tight when the machine was originally leveled. If this is the case, you should re-level the machine, then be sure to secure the leg locks by screwing them up as far as possible.

For instructions on properly leveling the washer, as well as other Troubleshooting Tips, please visit the link below, then select Installation > Installation Procedure > STEP 5 Leveling: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Question

RE: Samsung Washer & Dryer repair

I have a Samsung washer and dryer set - models WF218ANW/KAA and DV218AEW/XAA. I have ordered and received safety glass front covers for both and noted a hook design on the perimeter of both, indicating the appropriate twist would remove them from the doors. However, in attempting to twist them, the existing doors seem to be held in place by some sort of release mechanism. How do I release them without taking the doors apart?

The plastic covers are designed to stay in place securely, and there is no release mechanism to enable them to be removed more easily. If you are not able to remove the plastic covers by twisting them, then disassembling the door will be necessary.

There are two likely causes of the fabric softener not draining and the compartment filling with water:

1. The machine may not be level, and is probably leaning forward a bit.
2. The fabric softener cup may be clogged.

Try removing the detergent drawer and thoroughly rinsing the compartment with warm water.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Please try unplugging both the washer and dryer, resetting the circuit breaker, then plugging the washer into the outlet that the working dryer had been plugged into (I'm assuming you have a gas dryer that was plugged into a standard 120V outlet).

If the washer still won't power on, it will likely require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

I'm sorry to hear your daughter is having an issue with the door lock on her WF218 washer. The door lock mechanism should not engage when the door is open, so if this is the case then it is likely her washer requires service. First, try cycling the power to the machine by unplugging the washer for several seconds, then replugging it and turning the power on. If the washer does not reset itself, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist her further.

Thank you for the question. The spin only cycle should not add water, though it would not be unusual for it to appear as though a small amount of water is entering the drum as a result of residual water from the previous cycle. If the water is actually turning on and filling during the spin only cycle, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service will be necessary.

It's not unusual to have a small amount of water remaining in the door seal at the end of the cycle. However, more than a small amount may indicate that the washer is not properly leveled, and is leaning forward somewhat. I would suggest using a carpenter's level to check both front to back and side to side leveling, ensuring that the bubble on the level is perfectly centered. Run a Spin Only cycle to determine if there is any vibration, then fine-tune the adjustment to ensure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to minimize any vibration. Once the leveling is complete, be sure to screw the plastic leg locks into place as far up as they'll go so the legs don't become loose and change their position over time.

I would also suggest practicing standard maintenance procedures, including running bleach and hot water at least once a month, wiping the gaskets, door seal and doors, and cleaning the debris filter periodically.

Question

How to put top piece back on

I took off the top piece of the washer so I could go in and fix something. I was able to fix what I wanted to. I tried to put back the top piece but I can't get it on how it originally was. I thought that would be the easiest part, but turns out, for me it's not. I need some assistance on how to get this top piece back on correctly. I have tried but there's a big gap on each side and it definitely doesn't look right. Our washers warranty ran out this month. Can anyone help or show me how via pics/video? I uploaded a pic of the top piece off.

Thank you for the question. To reinstall the lid to the washer, please try the following:
- Pull the washer out from the wall.
- Align the front edge of the lid over the rear of the washer and slide the lid forward gently but firmly so the inside edges of the lid's sides are in contact with the outer edges of the washer, being careful not to scratch the lid or the washer in the process.
- The front indented edge of the lid should be able to slide securely under the front rim of the washer, and the screwholes on the back edge of the lid should closely align with the screw holes on the back of the washer. It may be necessary to apply some pressure during this final step so it does fit securely in place.

The key is to have the lid slide from rear to front, rather than trying to drop it into place from above the washer. I hope this helps you to reinstall the lid properly. If not, please resubmit as a new question.

Thank you for the question. There is no way to manually adjust the wash cycle times on the WF218 washer. I would suggest you refer to the Cycle Chart on page 25 of the User Manual, and select a cycle that best suits your needs. The Delicate cycle, for example, is the shortest wash cycle at an estimated 41 minutes. Keep in mind that these times are estimates, and can vary depending on the supplied water pressure and temperature, type or amount of detergent used, and additional options selected.

Question

Top cover of washer cont.

Thank you for the response. It did help, but only for the left side. I got that side able to slide in but the right side doesn't seal like it use to for some reason. I tried pushing it in harder like I did for the left side, but it doesn't budge. I've tried multiple things to push it in and looked to see what could be the issue and I cannot figure it out. I uploaded 2 pictures. One picture is the right side angle of the washer where you can tell there's a slight gap and then the 2nd picture is the right side angle of our dryer which you can tell has a tighter connection. This might sound silly, but is there anyway I might can get someone to come out and fix it? and if so - how much will it cost or if anything at all? Thank you again. I do appreciate it.

I'm glad you were able to get the left side back in, and it looks like the right side is aligned correctly and close to being pushed in all the way. If you aren't able to slide it in any further after trying different methods, I don't know that a service technician would be able to either.
