Question

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your WF218 washer. The "dc" error code indicates an unbalanced load is preventing your washer from spinning properly. Try redistributing the load, then press the Start/Pause button. If the load appears well-distributed, you may need to make adjustments to the leveling legs to make sure the washer is properly leveled, removing the clothes and running a spin only cycle to make the necessary adjustments. Once firmly leveled, be sure the plastic leg locks are tightened to prevent them from vibrating loose. If this does not resolve the issue for you, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Nope. I have ceramic tile floors and no pedestals and we have no problems at all. Coincidentally, my laundryroom is ten feet from my bedroom and I can leave the doors open while I do the laundry and watch TV or read in my room with no problem. They really are quiet.

answer 2
The anti-vibration pads should not be necessary due to Samsung's Vibration Reduction Technology, as long as the washer is properly leveled and installed on a solid surface. With or without pads, it's very important that your ceramic tiles are firmly situated, with no airpockets underneath them which could cause them to crack under the weight of any heavy appliance.

Once the WF218 is properly installed, you may still notice a small amount of vibration in the initial stages of the spin cycle, but the machine should correct itself by the time it reaches about medium spin speed (approximately 400 RPM). If not, you may need to adjust the legs slightly until the vibration goes away, and make sure the washer is securely attached to the pedestal, as well.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The WF218, like other Samsung washing machines, uses a Direct Drive motor, so there is no belt. There are a number of factors that could prevent the washer from spinning, however. Please visit the link below to open the Troubleshooting Guide, then select "Operation" > "Washer Doesn't Drain or Doesn't Spin At All": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article will guide you through several tips for resolving this issue yourself. If these suggestions do not correct the problem, your washer may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Samsung recommends using only HE detergent for a variety of reasons, including those mentioned earlier. Using non-HE detergent can cause error codes from leaking and oversudsing, as well as extended wash times and dingy-looking clothes.

I did my homework. I used reg soap, NON HE. causes so many problem from leaks to extended wash times because of the sudsing error. these washers only use about 12 gals of water. Reg top loaders use about 40 gals of water. If you use reg soap by the directions on the bottle you will have too much soap for that small amount of water and the clothes will be stiff as a board because off all the soap left in the clothes. I use 2x concentrated HE soap, about 2 tbl spoons and my clothes are clean. Dont be penny wise, dollar foolish

Question

Does the internal water heater automatically heat the incoming water on any cycle that uses warm or hot water?

Our water heater is pretty far away from our laundry room. The only reference I can find in the manual for this model regarding when the heater kicks on is when you choose the sanitize cycle. Since the washer uses only a fraction of the water that our top loader does, I am concerned that warm and hot loads would end up with mostly cold water.

Thanks for the question. The internal water heater is used to heat the water for the Sanitize Cycle, and it also helps to heat the incoming water if the sensor detects the water supply to be below 60°F, which is the minimum temperature for detergent to be most effective.

As with any water outlet in the home (shower, faucets, dishwasher or washing machine), the water can take time to heat up since the cold water sitting in the pipes first needs to flush through. The suggestion to allow the hot water to run for a short time if a sink is nearby is a good one, if the goal is to ensure the water in the washer is as hot as possible. Another option could be to raise the setting of the household hot water heater, though caution should be taken to avoid anyone getting hurt by water being too hot.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with a moldy smell in your WF218ANW. As part of regular maintenance of this and other washers, it is recommended to not only leave the door open when not in use to allow the drum to air out, but also to wipe down the door and gaskets, and to run a hot water Sanitize cycle with bleach, but no clothes, once each month.

"Basket Clean" cycle?

Some manufacturers of front loaders have Basket Clean cycles. The cycle is used about once a month to clean the inside of the machine using bleach. The Samsungs don't have this certain feature. The 4.0 capacity WF218 can fit 23 standard size (24" x 44") bath towels or a king-size comforter. Expressing the capacity in terms of pairs of jeans or shirts is not reliable or accurate since those items are not as easily "standardized".

Question

Softener Compartment Not Dispensing

The washer softener compartment has stopped emptying normally after working fine for months.
I've checked to make sure the washer is level, have made sure the slide-out soap / softener / bleach dispenser is unclogged and clean, and have run a bleach / sterilize wash. If I manually stop the washer at the beginning of the rinse cycle, and add extra water to the softener cup (filling it up to the rim), it will empty. I think this means this washer isn't getting water into the cup but am not sure whether there's anything I can do about that? Is there anything else I can do or check before calling a repair service? Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. In addition to the troubleshooting efforts you've already made, I would suggest checking the inlet hoses and screens to rule out blockage of the water entering the washer. I purchased an effiiency front loading washer, and I understand it is water effiicient, but I hardly see any water during the wash cycle. Not even an inch worth as it tosses the clothes around. It looks like the clothes are barely wet. You cannot see any soap suds either. Is this normal?

answer 1
LIke most front load washers, Samsung's WF218 is designed to wash clothes by rotating them through a small amount of water, rather than submerging them. In addition, our drums are tilted back to allow for the door to be opened to add forgotten garments early in the cycle, so it is not unusual to see only a small amount of water, if any, at the front of the drum. The visibility of suds can vary by the type and amount of detergent used, and the fact that suds were not very visible to you may be an indication that you are using the appropriate amount of low-sudsing HE (High Efficiency) detergent.

I've attached two photos below, one depicting the approximate amount of water that you should see in the drum during the initial fill, and another showing the amount of water that should be in the drum later in the operating cycle. I would suggest running a Quick Wash cycle to determine whether your washer is filling appropriately by checking the fill levels against these photos.

If you find that your washer is not filling as much as what's depicted in the photos, please check the following:
1) Is your water pressure at the recommended 20-120 psi, and are the valves to the washer turned on all the way?
2) Remove and check both hot and cold water inlet screens for clogs.
3) Be sure the machine is properly leveled both front to back and side to side.

Thank you for the question,

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The "nd" error code may indicate that your washer is not draining, or that the unit
senses a small clog while draining.

When this happens, turn off the unit and turn it on again; select the Spin Only cycle; press the Start/Pause button to drain the water. Next, try cleaning the debris filter to determine if this is the source of the clog. Instructions can be found on page 17 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded from this website for your convenience. You can also click the following link to open the Troubleshooting Guide, then select Error Codes > The Display Reads "Nd" for instructions: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...
