Question

Using ammonia in washer

I've used ammonia as a cleaning aid in my former top-loaders for many years for certain types of laundry. Can I do this with my new front loader? If so, how do I add the ammonia (in the detergent dispenser, directly in the drum, etc.)? Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk of the ammonia hurting something in the machine.
HE detergents are recommended, and that and Clorox would be all I would use.
Why run the risk of damage, when there are other usable products out there?
My opinion of course. ;-)

I have not even had to use spray and wash or shout on my clothes since I have this FANTASTIC WASHER CLOTHES COME OUT MUCH MORE CLEANER than on the older machines. I would NOT use the ammonia. Check with your manual. if you use non-chlorine bleaach you add it in with your liquid detergent.

I cannot speak to the appropriateness - or the best method - of adding substances like ammonia to the washing machine that are not intended for that purpose. I would suggest consulting the ammonia bottle instructions for laundry use directions, if available. Please keep in mind that Samsung recommends using only HE detergent products that are intended for use with high-efficiency front loaders in our machines.

Like most front load washers, the door on the WF210 opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible.

Question

why are my clothes not getting clean?

I have had this machine for almost two months now. I got it because EVERYONE is telling me how much they LOVE their new he washing machine. frankly, I am disappointed. ok, it is quiet, and
but that is the only good thing about it! we do not have small children and do not have any other
reason for our clothes to be especially dirty, but none of them even seem to come out clean! I have used Tide, All, Gain and even a store brand generic...tried using more, using less...nothing
makes a difference. after just a few washes my whites are now gray...with or without bleach.
washing a gray sheet and adding bleach in the dispenser left a white streak where it appeared the
bleach poured directed down the sheet. can you give me any suggestions how to make it work like it is supposed to?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. You mentioned trying several different brands of detergent, but you didn't mention whether they were specifically HE detergent. It is very important to use HE detergent, and only a small amount of it, for the washer to clean properly. Using non-HE, or even too much HE, can cause clothes to look gray and dingy, as you describe.

Regarding the bleach dispenser, their should be a siphoning cup in your dispenser which prevents the bleach from reaching the drum until it is flushed through with water allowing it to become diluted. In order for this to work, however, it is important to fill it no higher than the "max" line in dispenser cup. Overfilling the dispenser will cause the bleach to run into the wash without being diluted.

I hope this helps resolve the situation for you.

If you need to use a stain remover apply it on the table. Not spray it on the machine. I always feel when we just spray it we leave the residue on for we do not wripe it off right away and it could ruin the exterior of the maachine.

Laundry stain removers that are either designed specifically for HE (high efficiency) washers or do not create a lot of suds should be fine to use in Samsung front loaders. I would suggest you check the manufacturer's instructions on the bottle to determine how it should be applied to your clothes.

answer 2
The dimensions of the WF210 and DV210 when stacked are approximately 27" wide by 77" high by 35-1/4" deep, due to the dryer overhanging the washer by several inches in the back. When stacked, the DV210AEW dryer can be vented out the left or right side using the DV-1A side vent kit, or out the back which is the factory default set-up. The direction of the venting will impact the amount of clearance you'll need in each direction, but following are the basic requirements as provided in the user manual for alcove or closet installation:

• Minimum clearances between the Dryer and adjacent walls or other surfaces are: 2” in front, 17” on top, 1” on either side, and 2.375” in the back.
• The closet front must have two unobstructed air openings for a combined minimum total area of 72 in² with 3” minimum clearance on the top and bottom. A louvered door with equivalent space clearance is acceptable.

For more information, please refer to the user manuals which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website. Samsung recommends having the electrical connections and side venting conversion kit, if applicable, installed by qualified technicians.

answer 2
Thank you for the question. The WF210 and other high efficiency washers are not designed to be filled with water, but to rotate laundry through a small amount of water. Samsung front loaders use approximately 13-15 gallons of water per cycle.

It's normal for the water to be difficult to see given the low water use as well as the fact that Samsung's drum tilts toward the back. Because of this, there is likely more water in your washer than you realize. To determine whether your WF210 is filling with the appropriate amount of water, please click on the following link, then select "Troubleshooting ► Water Related ► There is No Water Or Not Enough Water": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article also includes the troubleshooting tips for addressing a low-water level.

Question

Should there be a mold smell?

The washer/dryer combo we purchased in February has caused our clothing to smell moldy more times then not. I have cleaned the washer, even left the front door open for air. To add, the clothing if it does not smell like mold, smells like the laundry soap (Tide) we used for washing.

Any input to correct this would be great!

answer 2
I'm sorry to hear your WF210ANW washer has an odor. This odor is caused by bacteria that is introduced to the washing machine from the water supply, dirty laundry and other environmental factors, and can get trapped in soap residue on the outside of the drum, as well as in the gaskets and dispenser. Samsung recommends following the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include running empty hot wash cycles with bleach, wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads, as you've noted doing. In addition, it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent to help reduce the residue that can trap the bacteria that can lead to these odors. Selecting the Extra Rinse option or running a Rinse & Spin cycle occasionally can help to ensure that particularly heavy or absorbent clothes are rinsed thoroughly.

0out of 0found this answer helpful.
answer 2
If the fabric softener remains in the dispenser at the end of the wash cycle, it is likely that either:
- the dispenser drawer is clogged;
- the water is not reaching the compartment with enough pressure to flush the softener out;
- the washer is not level.

Try removing the drawer and rinsing it thoroughly with warm water to remove all detergent residue. Next, place a carpenter's level on top of the washing machine, checking both front to back and side to side leveling. If the washer is leaning forward, it may prevent the drawer from draining properly. Adjust the leveling legs as necessary, running a test "spin only" cycle before tightening the leg locks to be sure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to prevent vibration. Finally, clean the inlet water hose filter screens and make sure the water valves are turned back on all the way.

Please click on the link below then select "Home > Troubleshooting ► > Detergent Drawer ► > Fabric Softener Does Not Dispense" for more information: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If the problem still persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further and schedule service if necessary.

Question

Keeping the washer odor free

I am very meticulous about trying to keep this washer odor free. I clean it AT LEAST 2 times a week. I empty a water basin in the bottom after each load and dry the washer completely, wash out the detergent drawer and leave everything open to air dry, but yet it always has an odor. About once a month I use Afresh or Tide and run a cycle through an empty washer. Do you have any more tips? Should I have a service tech check it out? It is less than I year old? Thank you for your help.

Do you use liquid fabric softener? If you do it might cause a build up if used too much on cold cycles. Do you run a hot cycle once a month? Not sure what might be happening.

Samsung recommends following the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include running empty hot wash cycles with bleach (though the bleach additives you're using may suffice), wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads. In addition, it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent to help reduce the residue that can trap the bacteria that can lead to these odors.

Buy four rubber pads that have tremendous gripping surfaces on top of the pads and MORE IMPORTANTLY on bottom of the pads to grip the floor. Then place the pads under the four feet. That is what I did and my washer has not moved 1/16 inch in 6 months.

I would wipe around the rubber ring after each wash. Pull out the soap dispenser drawer and wipe out the inside cavity after each load and wipe the dispenser itself out. Also leave the drawer open and the door open until the next load. Once a month add about 1/2 cup of bleach through the dispenser and run the machine on the hottest setting on a normal wash empty. That should keep the machine clean and free from mold.

Question

Not enough water?

It seems like my new samsung washer doesn't get my clothes wet enough to clean them properly. The water valve into the washer is open all of the way, but the clothes barely get wet! Sometimes they smell after coming out of the dryer. Is there a setting I can change to get more water into the drum?

A friend told me about the smell issue. She said just wipe it out after each use. I havn't run into that yet--probably due to the amt of laundry i do daily.

Thank you for the question. Samsung's washing machines have an automatic weight sensor which adjusts the amount of water used per cycle, and the water level cannot be adjusted manually. To determine whether your WF210 is filling with the appropriate amount of water, please click on the following link, then select "Water Related Issues ► There is No Water Or Not Enough Water": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article also includes the troubleshooting tips for addressing a low-water level.
