Question

nF error message

My machine is VERY slow to fill, giving me the nF error code. I've checked the hoses- they are not kinked, the water is on full, and I removed, cleaned, and replaced the inlet screens. When I remove the dispenser drawer during the fill portion of the cycle, I can see the water is just trickling in. any ideas?

Question

Pop sound

I was in the middle of a wash (washer 2.5 yrs old) and I heard a loud pop sound and the washer had no info in the display. There is now power to the unit. I checked the breaker and it didn't trip the switch. I flipped it anyway. I also unplugged and plugged it back in.

Nothing is working nor can I get the door open or reset the unit.

Any idea what the loud pop was? Fuse? I check the power cord and all is normal. Nothing out of the normal.

Question

Musty smell

Since the first time I ran clothes through this machine, I've had a musty smell immediately after washing. The smell goes away once dried and a fabric sheet is used. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

I'm sorry to hear there is a lingering odor in your laundry. This odor is caused by bacteria that is introduced to the washing machine from the water supply, dirty laundry and other environmental factors, and can get trapped in soap residue on the outside of the drum, as well as in the gaskets and dispenser. To effectively remove bacteria from clothes, it would be necessary to sanitize them, which would require bleach since the WF209 does not have a sanitize cycle.

To help remove this odor from the washer, Samsung recommends following the standard maintenance procedures recommended for most front load washers, which include running empty hot wash cycles with bleach, wiping down the gaskets and door between loads, cleaning the soap dispenser regularly, and leaving the door open between loads. In addition, it is very important to use only the recommended amount of HE detergent to help reduce the residue that can trap the bacteria that can lead to these odors.

If the door lock is engaged and the door on your washer is open, try pressing the Start/Pause button. If it doesn't unlock, try powering the washer off then back on again. If it still doesn't unlock, try cycling the power to the washer by unplugging it for a minute then plugging it back in, or turning the circuit breaker off then on again. Power the washer on, and press the Start/Pause button again, if necessary. If it is still locked, the washer may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

This code indicates that the door is open while the washer is running. If you're unable to close the door, try pressing the Start/Pause button and, if necessary, turn the washer off then cycle the power to the washer by unplugging it or turning the circuit breaker off for about 30 seconds. If the door mechanism doesn't unlock automatically when you power it back on, try pressing the Start/Pause button again. If it still won't unlock and allow you to close the door all the way, service may be needed. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

It's a front end loading washing machine. They are designed to use much less water than top loading. The clothes are not submerged in water, but instead, are rotated through the water at the bottom of the drum.

Thank you for the question. It is normal for the water to be difficult to see given the low water use of front load washers as well as the fact that Samsung's drum tilts toward the back. Because of this, there is likely more water in your washer than you realize. To determine whether your WF209 is filling with the appropriate amount of water, please click on the following link, then select "Troubleshooting ► Water Related ► There is No Water Or Not Enough Water": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

This article also includes the troubleshooting tips for addressing a low-water level.

First, do you know if the water pump is working? If you've cleaned the filter at the bottom of the washer, and you know the drain hose is not kinked or clogged, then you may have a bad water pump.

Thank you for the question. It isn't unusual for some water to remain in the debris filter housing, since it is part of the drainage system of the washer. This water is necessary to maintain an air tight seal leading to the drain pipe and prevent odors from flowing back into the washer. If there were an issue with water not draining properly, your washer would display an "nd" error on the control panel.

After you are through washing you should leave the door open and wipe the rubber seal (in the groove at the bottom of the washer) with a towel to dry. Otherwise, your clothes will smell like milldew. I have had my washer for a couple of years and have never had a problem with smell. Luckily a friend told me about this when we bought the washer.

A high pitched whiny sound is usually caused by restricted water flow. I would suggest turning off the water valves and disconnecting the supply hoses to check for debris either in the hoses themselves or in the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer. Remove the screens and clean them thoroughly, then replace them and the hoses, and turn the supply valves back on all the way.

I hope this helps!

The drain hose that comes factory installed on your WF209 is approximately 6 feet long, and can be extended by purchasing another section of hose, then attaching it to the original hose by clamping them together with a steel sleeve. These parts can be purchased at most hardware or home improvement stores. Samsung recommends a vertical discharge of no more than 9 feet, with a maximum of 13 feet in any direction, based on the pump's capability.

Accessory inlet hoses are available in various lengths up to 10 feet. If SamsungParts.com does not have inlet supply hoses available in the length you need, please check your local appliance, home improvement or hardware store for other alternatives.

I'm sorry to hear there is bleach left in the lines after your wash load. I would suggest adding an Extra Rinse to your bleach wash load or running a Rinse & Spin cycle in between loads to ensure there is no bleach remaining in the washer or the dispenser lines.
