Thank you for the question. It's not unusual for both hot and cold valves to cycle on when the washer is filling and warm water is selected. In addition, if your washer is installed far from the water heater and the water has been sitting in the pipes for a while, cold water may enter through the hot water pipes until the hot water can push through from the heater. First, check the installation to make sure the hot and cold connections are set up correctly. Check the inlet water hose filters for clogs that could prevent the hot water from filling at the appropriate pressure, then reconnect the hoses and make sure the hot and cold valves are both turned on all the way.
Try running the hot water through the pipes by turning on a hot water faucet located near the washer. Ideally, the faucet would be on the opposite side of the washer from where the hot water heater is located to ensure only hot water is in the pipe once you start the washer. Now, run a test cycle with hot or warm water selected. If hot water still isn't entering the washer, it may require service.
