Question

Why is there water in my bleach dispenser?

Sometimes there is water is my bleach dispenser compartment when I finish a load of clothes. Bleach has not been put in the dispenser compartment when this happens. I have to take a dry cloth and press it down into the dispenser to remove the water. I have had my washing machine for a few weeks now.

Thanks for the question. Water is flushed through the bleach dispenser as part of the normal wash pattern whether you've poured bleach in it or not. If water remains in the dispenser at the end of the cycle, check that the washer is properly leveled using the front leveling legs. If it's leaning forward, the dispenser may not be able to drain thoroughly.

The WA5451, like other high efficiency (HE) top load washers, is not designed to submerge clothes in water, but rather to circulate the clothes through the water and the water back over the clothes. This is made possible by the stainless steel pulsator which creates a "blossoming" action as it tumbles the clothes, and Samsung's recirculating pump which takes the water from the bottom of the drum and circulates it back over the top of the clothes during the cycle.

Samsung's HE top loaders do use weight sensors to help determine how much water to add to the wash (there is no manual adjustment for this) and the amount of water ranges from about 16-19 gallons per cycle. This is significantly less than traditional top loaders which can use as much as 45 gallons or more during a typical cycle.

To ensure your WA5451 is using the right amount of water, check the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer for blockage, and make sure the hoses are not bent or kinked, the water valves are turned on all the way, and your home's water pressure is at the recommended 20-116 psi. If the pressure or water level are not sufficient, your washer is designed to display an "nF" or no fill error code on the display to alert you to check the above factors.

Question

Water Level

I have been watching the water level carefully to determine if there is adequate water for what I am washing and for the most part there is, however, on certain loads, like blankets or afgans, the water level on filling is very low and certainly not adequate for the load. How can I adjust the water level for the load?

This is made possible by the stainless steel pulsator which creates a "blossoming" action as it tumbles the clothes, and Samsung's recirculating pump which takes the water from the bottom of the drum and circulates it back over the top of the clothes during each portion of the cycle. Because of this, it's not unusual to have the water level appear to be low in relation to the amount of clothes or other items in the drum.

To ensure your washer is using the right amount of water, check the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer for blockage, and make sure the hoses are not bent or kinked, the water valves are turned on all the way, and your home's water pressure is at the recommended 20-116 psi. Question

Samsung wa5451anwxaa02 washer fills acceptably 8 out of 10 times.

I get the no fill NF alert during the wash. it fills, starts a cycle and then halfway will not refill. No water changes in the lines/no water use elsewhere in the house. My only option is to restart and then the same thing happens. I have just taken out three towels soaking wet to see if I can get it to spin. Is this an example of what I should expect or should I contact the retailer?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If the washer is not filling properly, please make sure the water valves are turned on all the way and connected correctly to the hot and cold inlets; and check the inlet hose screens for debris. It's also important that your home's water pressure be sufficient at 20-116 psi. If the 'no fill' error persists, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Online support form: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/o...

It's also worth noting that the washer's inability to spin may have other causes. If the towels are soaking wet, this would indicate a possible problem with draining. Troubleshooting tips for this can be found by clicking on the link below then selecting "Troubleshooting ► > Water Related ► > Washer Doesn't Drain or Doesn't Spin At All": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Thank you for the question. It's not unusual for both hot and cold valves to cycle on when the washer is filling and warm water is selected. In addition, if your washer is installed far from the water heater and the water has been sitting in the pipes for a while, cold water may enter through the hot water pipes until the hot water can push through from the heater. First, check the installation to make sure the hot and cold connections are set up correctly. Check the inlet water hose filters for clogs that could prevent the hot water from filling at the appropriate pressure, then reconnect the hoses and make sure the hot and cold valves are both turned on all the way.

Try running the hot water through the pipes by turning on a hot water faucet located near the washer. Ideally, the faucet would be on the opposite side of the washer from where the hot water heater is located to ensure only hot water is in the pipe once you start the washer. Now, run a test cycle with hot or warm water selected. If hot water still isn't entering the washer, it may require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Is it safe to wash rags used with general household cleaning products (e.g., wood polish, glass & surface cleaners) in this washer?

I am considering purchase of top-loader. I use as many 'green' cleaning products as possible, and all are ammonia-free, but some do contain oils or creams (not necessarily identified on the label in detail.) I wash these now in my old top-loader..are there any special cautions with the new washers?

Question

Is the rubber end of the discharge hose only supposed to be inserted about 1.5 inches into the discharge pipe in the wall?

The discharge hoses on my previous washers did not have the rubber nozzle on the end. I have never had a problem before inserting the discharge hoses several inches, which has always been recommended, into my discharge pipe in my wall. The rubber nozzle on the end of the discharge hose is too large and I am only able to insert it about 1.5 inches into the hole for my discharge pipe. Is this a common issue - or an issue at all? Should I cut off the rubber end so that the the hose can be pushed further down the discharge pipe?

Thanks for the question. The standpipe should be large enough to accept the outside diameter of the drain hose without making an airtight connection, and without having to cut off part of the factory-installed hose. The hose should be inserted in the standpipe about 6-8" but no more. Please refer to page 13 and 15 of the user manual for installation information.

Question

We recently purchased a WA5461AN and find that the clothes are not getting clean.

In trouble shooting, I noticed that the inner diameter of the inlet hoses is about 1/8 of an inch. I believe that as a result of such a small ID, there is insufficient water getting into the machine. It also appears that the clothes are getting minimally wet as I do not see water coming out of the drum and spraying the clothes from the top. I am going to try replacing the hoses (which I should not have to do) with standard hoses. If that does not work we will have to take the machine back.

Samsung recommends using the hoses that came with the WA5451 washer to ensure the correct water pressure and fill level. If the clothes do not appear to be getting wet or clean, please check the following:
- Is your home's water pressure at the recommended 20-116 psi?
- Are the water valves turned on all the way?
- Are you selecting the appropriate wash water temperature and other options?
- Are you using the recommended amount of HE detergent?
- Try cleaning the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer.

The WA5451, like other high efficiency (HE) top load washers, is not designed to submerge clothes in water, but rather to circulate the clothes through the water and the water back over the clothes. This is made possible by the stainless steel pulsator which creates a "blossoming" action as it tumbles the clothes, and Samsung's recirculating pump which takes the water from the bottom of the drum and circulates it back over the top of the clothes during each portion of the cycle.

I'm sorry to hear water is leaking from your WA5451 washer. In addition to checking the water hose connections, please also make sure the drain hose is inserted properly into the standpipe, and the small auxiliary drain hose at the bottom of the back of the washer is plugged up securely. Thanks for the question. Different models use different patterns for the indicator lights on the display. If your washer appears to be functioning properly and washing your clothes based on the settings you've selected, then the light sequences you're seeing are likely normal. If an error occurs, you should be alerted by a code displayed in the window, rather than by the lights flashing.

Samsung recommends using only HE detergent and fabric softener formulations in our high efficiency washers. HE formulations produce less suds and rinse cleaner, which is important given the low water use of HE machines. Using non-HE formulations can lead to error codes, difficulty draining and spinning, and dingy-looking clothing.

Question

Why does my washer (WA5451 ANW) run a mix of mostly cold water for the 'hot' and 'warm' temperature settings resulting in tepid/cool water?

The only way that I can get the water temperature to be hot is by using the 'extra hot' setting on the 'sanitize' cycle that takes 2+ hours to run. How do I run a load in 1 hour or less that uses hot water? When the setting is 'hot' , the water is actually barely warm right after the tub is filled. When the temp setting is 'warm' the water is cold right after the tub is filled. My hot water heater is right next to the machine, and it is plenty hot, but the machine runs mostly cold (and only a little hot water) into the wash tub, so that the mix is cold/tepid.

The WA5451 is designed to cycle the hot and cold water valves in order to achieve those temperatures, so it isn't unusual to have mostly hot or mostly cold entering the washer at different times during the fill process when warm wash is selected. If there is cold water in the hot water supply pipe, then it's possible the overall temperature could be cooler than desired, as well. While your hot water tank's proximity to the washer should help to minimize this, it's likely that there is still some volume of water contained in the pipe that runs from the tank to the washer that could be cold if it's been sitting there.

That said, if you find that the water in the washer, once it's full, is significantly colder than the goal temperatures stated above and if the washer cycles on the cold water supply when hot is selected, then I would suggest submitting your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

I would suggest checking the fabric care instructions on the rugs to make sure the temperature and spin settings of the Bedding cycle are appropriate or need to be adjusted. When washing heavy, absorbent items like bathroom rugs, Samsung recommends adding a few towels, as well, to help keep the load in balance.
