What setting did you have it on? Did you read the manual? Remember this is NOT a old fashined washer that uses a tremendous amount of water. This is what I like to call a smart washer. It really does matter what setting you have it on. You have to know what each setting means and what all the lights or emblems mean. Yes sometimes it may take over an hour to do a load. But again settings, settings, settings. Still uses less water and more than likey less electric even at the longer time because of the way its designed.

Samsung's HE top loaders use weight sensors to help determine how much water to add to the wash and, as you've noted, there is no manual adjustment for this. The amount of water ranges from about 16-19 gallons per cycle, which is intentionally significantly less than traditional top loaders that can use as much as 45 gallons or more during a typical cycle. The HE washers are not designed to submerge clothes in water, but rather to circulate the clothes through the water and the water back over the clothes. This is made possible by the stainless steel pulsator which creates a "blossoming" action as it tumbles the clothes, and Samsung's recirculating pump which takes the water from the bottom of the drum and circulates it back over the top of the clothes during each portion of the cycle.

To ensure your WA5451 is using the right amount of water, check the inlet hose screens on the back of the washer for blockage, and make sure the hoses are not bent or kinked, the water valves are turned on all the way, and your home's water pressure is at the recommended 20-116 psi. If the pressure or water level are not sufficient, your washer is designed to display an "nF" or no fill error code on the display to alert you to check the above factors.

You really need to read and understang the manual. These washers are not made to submerge clothes in water. If you have it on the right settings, use the right detergent, and dont overload it then It works great.

You can only change the cycle with the lid open and power on. You simply turn power on, once it stars up turn the center dial to the setting you want then you can select the TEMP and also The SPIN SPEED. If the setting still do not change, then consult your owners manual for the SAMSUNG TECHINICAL SUPPORT 800 number.

Thanks for the question, and for choosing Samsung. Which settings you choose really depends on the type of fabric or items you're washing. I would suggest checking the fabric care label for guidance, then choose the cycle that has the best combination of temperature, spin speed and soil level, or you can set these manually. There is a Cycle Chart on page 34 of the user manual that shows which settings are available for which cycles.

Samsung's HE top loaders use weight sensors to help determine how much water to add to the washer; the amount of water ranges from about 16-19 gallons per cycle. Other factors that contribute include the soil level and number of rinse cycles. Therefore, while the cycle selection does have an impact on the amount of water, it is not the only factor.

It's not unusual to have a small amount of water remaining in the detergent drawer at the end of the cycle. However, more than a small amount may indicate that the washer is not properly leveled, and is leaning forward somewhat. I would suggest using a carpenter's level to check both front to back and side to side leveling, ensuring that the bubble on the level is perfectly centered. Run a Rinse and Spin cycle with no clothes to determine if there is any vibration, then fine-tune the adjustment to ensure all four feet are firmly planted on the floor to minimize any vibration. Once the leveling is complete, be sure to screw the plastic leg locks into place as far up as they'll go so the legs don't become loose and change their position over time.

The water level is automatically set by the weight of the load. At the begining of the cycle the drum wil move slightly back and forth this is when it determines the weight of the load and how much water is needed. The High efficeinecy washers use only 16-19 gallons of water as opposed to convential washers 35-45 gallons. It might appear the water level is not suffician, I thought so at first, but the way the washer pulsates and creates a "BLOSSOMING EFFECT" it will rotate the clothes in the water and also it reciculates some of the bottom water to the top to assure full coverage.

Hope this helps you.

Question

How does the washer determine the water level needed for a load of wash?

There are no settings at the beginning of a cycle to tell the washer the size of the load (e.g. small, normal, large, ex-large). How is the amount of water needed for a cycle determined if a load size is not chosen?

Question

Is my washer working right?

We just got our washer about a week ago. I've experimented with different cycles and I am super disappointed with the agitation mode. I am wondering if there is something wrong with it cause it really doesn't agitate at all, just a real short back and forth motion through the whole wash cycle. My clothes don't seem to even be getting clean like my last washer did them. They used to smell fresh but now they still even have body oder left in them. I'm quite disappointed! Is my washer working correctly? I'm worried that it isn't. HELP!!!

The WA5451 is not designed to agitate clothes, but rather to circulate the clothes through the water for gentle cleaning. This is made possible by the stainless steel pulsator which creates a "blossoming" action as it tumbles the clothes, and Samsung's recirculating pump which takes the water from the bottom of the drum and circulates it back over the top of the clothes during each portion of the cycle. For best cleaning results, please be sure not to overload the washer (the drum should be no more than 3/4 full) and use the recommended amount of HE detergent only. For more information, please refer to the user manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website for your convenience.

I'm sorry to hear you're getting the 'no fill' error code on your washer. Please make sure your home's water pressure is at a sufficient level of 20-116 psi. If it is, and the water valves are turned on all the way, the hoses are unkinked and the screens are clean, and the error code persists, it may require service to determine the cause and find a solution. Please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for the question. The serial number is actually located on the back of the washer. The label containing the model and serial number can be found on the top left side when facing the front of the washer (see attached photo).

Question

Samsung Top loader question

I bought a Samsung top loader washing machine recently. Model # WA5451ANW.

I am having an issue where the clothing is not coming out clean and often some of it doesn't even get wet. It doesn't seem to be putting enough water in the machine. Is there a way to adjust the water level?

Samsung's HE top loaders use weight sensors to help determine how much water to add to the wash, and there is no manual adjustment for the water level. The total amount of water ranges from about 16-19 gallons per cycle.

Other things to consider include the importance of using only the recommended amount of HE detergent, not overloading the washer, and being sure to select the correct temperature and other settings for the type of fabrics you're washing.

Thank you,

The Samsung Rep said to use the bedding selection to get the most water since there is no level selector. Defeats the purpose of the type selector if you do that. I just add a bucket of water to the load is the level isn't sufficient. I know it is weird, but what else can you do? It works. I love it for too many other reasons to return it for that.
