I have found that my washer does this sometimes too. The only thing that I have found to prevent this is the color guard sheets that you throw in with the clothes. I think they are actually called color catchers. You can find them in the laundry isle and they work wonders.

Realistically there cannot be a reason that this machine would cause bleach spots to appear on your clothes. MAYBE if you used a powder HE detergent that also contained bleach I could see it possibly happening. Was it a demo model or refurbished, repaired, or otherwise previously used? If not, I would see if you can receive a replacement. Most stores will give you 30-day replacement or if the warranty is in place have the repairman witness what you are experiencing.

The washer regulates the amount of water needed based on the weight of the load. As a consumer we do not need to worry about how much or if it is the right amount, the washer is doing that for us. As an Energy Star product, it is designed to use up to 2/3 less water than we are used to in days gone by. It operates a lot differently and cannot accurately be compared to what we have used in the past.

The machine automatically senses the load size and dispenses the amount of water necessary to optimally wash and rinse the laundered items.

I was very skeptical of this at first but have come to trust the machine's sensing functions.

A friend bought a similar washer shortly after we bought our machine. Her machine has a clear lid enabling us to visually monitor the washing, rinsing, and spin-drying. It is very impressive!

Question

Washing Quality

We recently purchased our washer and read though the manual thoroughly. We are finding, however, the wash is not coming as clean as our old washer. We are using HE products and bleach as necessary but the results are not as expected. Are there any suggestions.

answer 3
You may need to presoak if you have larger and dirtier loads. The manual suggests to only fill 3/4 full and some washers of this type recommend that you fill around the outside of the center or the "eye" of the 'agitator'. Although I have been told this isn't necessary, you may try that if your loads are very large.

The washer uses very little water, so you may be using too much detergent and bleach. I pre-treat stains, use a high quality detergent (red bottle with a bullseye design) and do not overfill the tub. The washer does not have a filter, so it is important to clean the tub after a really dirty load like work clothes. I use the machine cleaning function once or twice a month as well.

answer 2
You should not be checking the water level, it senses the correct level to use based on the weight of the load. This is an Energy Star product and therefore uses up to 2/3 less water than the washers of previous generations. So, yes it will use less, on purpose. If you are washing a really bulky dirty load, remember you can change the default settings to warmer/hotter, presoak, extra spin, whatever. Remember this washer doesn't work the same as the ones we used in the past.

If you pull on the tray it will come out (note they may then claim you voided warranty) but if it is like mine it will be eaten up with rust which may appear around the top edge as a yellowing or discoloration. I have had no success getting any response for waranty repair since mine is just over a year old and they called this normal wear and tear without even seeing it.

answer 3
Thank you for contacting Samsung. This is likely from the bleach or other chemicals you've placed in that tray. You may have spilled or otherwise splatter some trace amounts, and while the chemicals generally whiten clothing, its interaction with other materials may be something like what you see.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

According to our home appliance specialist, if you're mixing it with powder detergent, you can put it in the detergent drawer. (You just have to remember to take out the liquid detergent insert). If you're not mixing it with powder detergent, you can pour it into the washer tub before adding clothes.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

Based on our research, it looks as if your washer is only $100 less than a model that offers a windowed top.

http://www.samsung.com/us/appliances/washers

We recommend you contact our parts supplier to see if a windowed top can be purchased for your model, as one of their agents will be able to confirm whether or not this is possible.
