Questions & Answers for samsung 60" Class 6300 Series 1080p LED HDTV

Question

What is the LED TV/Conventional TV Meter in lower right hand corner? also Hz?

I hit 'info' button on my NEW 60" LED/LCD TV, it comes up showing 1920x1080i @ 60Hz in upper left hand corner of screen. In lower right hand corner is a 'meter' showing LED TV (in green area)/ Conventional TV (in dark area) and in the middle it looks like a battery. The needle is barely into the LED TV area and is very close to the Conventional TV side of the 'meter'. What is the purpose of this 'meter'? ALSO if my TV is a 120Hz unit, why does it only show that it seems to be working at only 60Hz?

This TV is a fully capable 120Hz set and offers the Auto Motion Plus feature that enhances said 120Hz image. This set will always upscale your 60Hz signal to 120Hz, regardless of any settings you may have active. However, in order to receive the full 120Hz benefit (judder and blur reduction, and frame interpolation), you will need to have Auto Motion Plus active. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box. Coincidentally, the Samsung TVs can only accept a 60Hz signal.

Additionally, The meter you see if just for informational purposes and shows you the amount of energy the LED TV is using in relation to a convention TV.

You will need a few pieces of hardware to get yourself up and running. first you will need a home network: I understand you are using a MiFi system, but unless the MiFi system offers router capabilities, you will not be able to share content across multiple devices. Assuming that the MiFi unit offers routing capabilities, you will then need to use a Samsung Linkstick, connected to the TV, to access the MiFi unit. Once everything is connected, you should be able to access files from your Fascinate pretty easily using the AllShare feature on both the phone and the TV (just activate AllShare on the phone, select how you want to share your content, then activate AllShare on the TV and you should be able to see the phone on screen). The thunderbolt may be a bit trickier and may require that you contact HTC for further assistance.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010-11 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing). Additionally, the Samsung Linkstick can only facilitate a network connection to Samsung Devices that already offer either network connectivity or Internet@TV and Samsung Apps. It cannot add additional features.

All UN, PN and LN units (North American Units) will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and NA power systems. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal or Non-NA voltages, you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country.

From the available information, the blinking you are seeing is actually the Netflix application readjusting the resolution as your connection speed changes. Unfortunately, since this is caused by Netflix's own app, I currently do not have any information as to when this feature may be removed from the app.

I want to connect my Mac. Why can't I get the sound to work.

Following the instructions in the manual, I used a DVI/HDMI to connect the video into the HDMI1 port. That works. I connected my mini toslink to toslink cable from the computer to the PC/DVI Audio In port on the back of the TV according to the manual. I can't get the sound to come out of the TV.

Actually, you will need to use a standard analogue type 3.5 mm jack cable to go from your computer's audio output (usually the headphone jack) to the TV's PC/DVI audio input. Toslink optical cables will not be compatible with this setup.

This unit does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.
