Question

Should I upgrade Firmware

I have this TV: UN55EH6000F
Web site says 1012 is the latest firmware

However when I go to upgrade the firmware is asks me "Do I want to upgrade from 1014 to 1012".

What is version 1014????? Isnt that a higher number already? This is a brand new TV..... and 1014 is not listed on samsung.com

Please help! Thanks

Thank you for contacting Samsung. The TV system won't allow you to update your TV with an older firmware. I can't explain why the firmware versioning appears out of sequence, but I can tell you that if it is older, then the TV would tell you that it's up-to-date. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

As a matter of fact, all of the HDMI ports will act the same (except HDMI1, which should be used for a PC connection if you so desire to connect it to the TV). That said, you can connect your HDMI devices to any of the HDMI ports on the TV with out any issues.

There are two ways to connect your PC or Mac to your Samsung TV for monitor functionality: HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to VGA/DVI/Displayport.
That said, the Samsung TVs do not offer wireless or networked monitor capabilities.
Please note, in the PC's operating system, you will need to set the display settings to either clone or extended view and set the PC’s resolution to match that of the maximum resolution of the TV in order to view your PC's desktop on the TV.

If your PC offer HDMI out, I would highly suggest using this connection, since it is a basic plug-n-play connection (meaning almost no adjustment is needed on the TV or PC).

HDMI to VGA/DVI/Displayport is almost the same as straight HDMI, but in this case, you will want to connect the DVI end of the cable to the PC (if available) and the HDMI into the TV. This is also considered a plug-n-play connection.

Unless otherwise specified by your PC manufacturer, you will need to connect the PC's audio to the TV with a separate cable (3.5mm jack cable from the PC’s audio output to the TV’s DVI/HDMI Audio input), since most PCs do not support audio over HDMI, VGA or DVI.

Unfortunately, it seems the micro-fiber cloth is not an included accessory with the EH6000.

We recommend you consider choosing a different connection type. Unless the Bose stereo system is several years old, it should offer a better quality connection type like optical audio (Toslink) or HDMI. These will be the two best connection types to choose from to take advantage of the best quality sounds. That being said, according to the product specs page, this TV has a 1 composite (RCA) input.

While you could connect some speakers, the output on the back of the TV only has fixed audio will only provide 500 milliamps of power. This is usually not enough to power external speakers and there would be no way for you to adjust the volume, unless you connected speakers that have a built-in volume control. If the latter was the case, you would still have to adjust the volume on the speakers themselves and would not be able to control them through the TV.

There is also an audio feature called SRS TruSurround HD that emulates a 5.1 channel environment through your TV's built-in speakers.

And there features on your TV that will allow a better audio experience if you were to invest in a home theater system. There is an SPDIF output that allows for you to get uncompressed digital audio.

The choice is yours to make, but we wanted to make sure you were aware of what's available.

I have HDMI link from cable box to TV. Channel remote does not work

The remote channel buttons do not work. I also must put time in manually. Must I always use remote that came with cable box for channel changes. Am I unable to use captions, too? Is this all becuase I am using HMDI connection?

No Sound level bar on screen

When we change the volume there is no bar indicating the sound level. There is just an exclamation mark over a yellow diamond says not available. Just upgraded to firmware 1012, no help

Question

Firmware Update.

I just bought the above registered LED TV and checked for firmware update. I downloaded the latest firmware dated June 03, 2012. When I attempted to upgrade my TV it asked if I wanted up upgrade from Version 1018 to Version 1012. Why is the upgrade 1012 and whats on my TV 1018? Is this an upgrade or an downgrade? Shall I continue or is Samsungs website out of date? Please advise if I shall continue the upgrade from 1018 to 1012?

Question

Stopped picking up channel 6-1, 6-3 through the air.

The UN55EH6000F TV used to pick up channels 6.1 & 6.3 (one of the strongest reception channels out of the 39 I pick up). As of the other day, after doing the autoprogram function it no longer picks up that channel. All others seem to be there, including 3-1, 4-1, 10-1....

The antenna is in the attic and has not been moved since initial setup when I got the TV 6 months ago.

My other TV (Spectre) picks up the channel without issues. To test the outlet source, I ran a cable to the same outlet as Spectre TV that picks up the channel but the Samsung would still not receive it.

When I type 6-1 on the remote, it does not go to that channel, just stays on current channel. Typing just 6 shows just black/white pixel noise, like the old no signal analog channels.

Very odd that I would just loose one channel that used to work fine with no changes to anything except for performing the auto progam scan function on the TV....

Other than trying to move the antenna, what can be done to resolve this? But it should not need moving as the other much cheaper TV picks it up without issues.
