From the available information, this unit will not offer the Web Browser. The Browser will only be available on the D6300 and the D6900 and higher LED TVs and the D8000 Plasma TV. Unfortunately, I currently do not have any information on Samsung Apps or Smart TV features being added to the 2010 and earlier models that do not offer previously mentioned features.

Although a universal remote would be much easier to set up in this fashion, the Remote that comes with the TV can only be used with the TV itself. The Samsung TV's remote is not a multi-device universal remote. If you have Samsung devices that offer Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) connectivity, then you may be able to use your one TV remote to control said devices without having to program anything.

This TV is a fully capable 120Hz set and offers the Auto Motion Plus feature that enhances said 120Hz image. This set will always upscale your 60Hz signal to 120Hz, regardless of any settings you may have active. However, in order to receive the full 120Hz benefit (judder and blur reduction, and frame interpolation), you will need to have Auto Motion Plus active. Adjusting Auto Motion Plus and LED Motion Plus will give you varied picture qualities. Coincidentally, the Samsung TVs can only accept a 60Hz signal.

Question

How do I get closed-caption to work with TV connected to cable box with HDMI cable?

This connection is the only way to get HD channels. Cable box does not offer any menu items or settings that allow user to select closed caption capability. I switched my new Samsung Smart TV (great pic!) to TV as source and changed closed caption option to "on" and selected type "CC1" but no CC when I switched back to HDMI as source.

In order to access Captioning, you will want to head into the TV's menu, then into the setup or system sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. The CC information cannot be sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from 3rd party devices. That said, most service provider set top boxes and DVD/BD players will handle CC on board, which will then be displayed on the TV as part of the video signal. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability. Additionally, the CC option cannot be set to come on automatically when MUTE is activated.

There are three ways to connect your PC or Mac to your Samsung TV for monitor functionality: monitor cable, HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to VGA/DVI/Displayport. Please note, in the PC's operating system, you will need to set the display settings to either clone or extended view and set the PC’s resolution to match that of the maximum resolution of the TV in order to view your PC's desktop on the TV.

Although all of these connections are easy to hook up, the PC monitor cable is the most common. To connect it this way, just use a standard PC monitor cable to connect from the monitor out of your PC to the PC input on the TV. Some adjustments to the PC's resolution is required.

If your PC offer HDMI out, I would highly suggest using this connection, since it is a basic plug-n-play connection (meaning almost no adjustment is needed on the TV or PC).

HDMI to VGA/DVI/Displayport is almost the same as straight HDMI, but in this case, you will want to connect the DVI end of the cable to the PC (if available) and the HDMI into the TV. This is also considered a plug-n-play connection.

Unless otherwise specified by your PC manufacturer, you will need to connect the PC's audio to the TV with a separate cable (3.5mm jack cable from the PC’s audio output to the TV’s DVI/HDMI Audio input), since most PCs do not support audio over HDMI, VGA or DVI.

Additionally, the Samsung TVs do not offer wireless or networked monitor capabilities.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you,

Currently, the only wireless adapter that can be used with the appropriate Samsung TVs is the Samsung Linkstick WIS09ABGN or WIS12ABGN. The reason for this is that all other usb wireless adapters require drivers to work. Since there is no feasible way to transfer and save hundreds of different drivers for each adapter on the TVs, Samsung created a USB wireless adapter that will work 100% of the time (plug-n-play), with out drivers. That said, the Linkstick is a WiFi dongle and does not provide wireless internet (cellular). Cellular dongles will not be compatible with the Samsung internet capable devices.
