The remote on this TV doesnt allow for extra devices.

It depends on what type of DVD Player you have and rather you have an option to use HDMI cables which would be your best option.. if not I would suggest gold coated tipped component cables to rectify your issue.

At this time, the UN55D6005 does not seem to have a newer firmware to update and install.

As a matter of fact, you can power the TV on without the remote. The power, channel, volume and menu buttons can be found at the lower right hand corner of the bezel.

- Set the TV to the Standard or Movie picture mode.
- Lower the backlight on their TV to 7.
- Make sure their set is well ventilated.
