Question

I have a Mac. How do I get the firmware update for my new TV. Mac does not accept or unzip an .exe file.

Your web site says my new Samsung TV needs firmware update T-GASAKUC.exe. I can download the update, but because my Mac computer does not recognize .exe files, I can not un-zip the file. How do I get the update?

Unfortunately, in order to extract the firmware file, a windows based PC is needed. You can also connect your TV to the internet either with the Samsung Linkstick (to a wireless home network) or using an ethernet cable to a wired home network. Once connected, enter the menu, then navigate to Support. Once there, you will see the "Software Upgrade" option.

Question

why doesn't netflix work?

The ethernet is hooked up, the TV has updated, the app has been downloaded and i have logged into my samsung account. All I bought the smart TV part for was to watch netflix. It should work instead of telling me to restart, which i have tried, or go on the netflix website, which redirects me to a page where i have to put in an activattion code which the netflix won't give me as it just tells me there is an error.

Although a universal remote would be much easier to set up in this fashion, the Remote that comes with the TV can only be used with the TV itself. The Samsung TV's remote is not a multi-device universal remote. If you have Samsung devices that offer Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) connectivity, then you may be able to use your one TV remote to control said devices without having to program anything.
