If you purchase the unit within the North American Territories, it will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and only 100v-127v 60Hz power. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal (or higher voltages), you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country.

The Samsung "B" series LED TVs will not be 3D ready. Also, the 2009 “B” series Samsung TVs and 2009 Samsung Blu-Ray Players will not be eligible for upgrades to the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or 3D. For the TVs, the panel material isn’t able to display 3D content and the internal hardware (processors, HDMI ports, etc.) on both the TVs and the BD players are not compatible with 3D, the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or any other 2010 feature.

Yes, both the B8000 and the B8500 offer a shared composite/component input. I'm sorry for the confusion.

As far as features, the C7000 will offer more then the B8000, so you will not be loosing anything if you upgrade.

1. The C7000 offers 3D, which the B8000 does not offer and will not offer

2. The C7000 offers a 6,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, while the B8000 offers a 5,000,000:1 DCR

3. The C7000 offers both the Samsung App Engine as well as the Yahoo Widget Engine, while the B8000 only offers and will only offer the Yahoo Widget Engine

Both of these units offer DLNA content streaming (on the C7000 its called AllShare) and media sharing through USB (on the C7000 its called ConnectShare Movie).

my un55b8000 is 240Hz, which is why i purchased that particular model.

The B8000 is not a 3D ready device. That said, unfortunately, there is currently no information on 2010 features being added to 2009 and earlier models at this time.

Unfortunately, there is no information on a Skype widget or any other 2010 widget/application for the 2009 model TVs. Please keep checking back on Samsung.com for any updated information on this and other products.

I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles with your TV and service. I would be equally upset if my TV had stooped working after a service tech tried to fix it. All I can say is try and contact 800-SAMSUNG once again to have the TV fully serviced. You should have a one year warranty through Samsung, so please take full advantage of this.

I would not suggest that the Samsung LED TVs be stores on its side either since the panel technology is still LCD.

You most definitely can, however you will need either a regular HDMI cable if your laptop offers an HDMI output or an HDMI to DVI cable to connect your laptop to the TV.

You will have to contact your remotes manufacturer or the company that you received your remote from in order to acquire the updated codes. Every remote manufacturer uses proprietary technology in order to program their remotes, so they should have all the info you need.

The issue could be between your devices and the HDMI cables you are using, however HDMI 1.3 is completely backwards compatible with other HDMI versions. Unfortunately, although with the information you have provided I do not have a solution for you; I will say that if you contact 800-SAMSUNG, the service department should be able to provide you with a live solution.
