Use either the standard AV cables that came with the Wii or purchase the Component cables. Most Samsung TVs only come with one Component input that also doubles as standard AV (or composite). If you have more than one Component or Composite device you will need to purchase a "switcher" that can connect more than one component device to the same input.

Please note: you will not be able to run composite cables through a switcher that is connected to the TV with component cables.

Question

High Def 1080p vs 1080i

I just bought a Samsung: UN46C5000QFXZA which is 1080p. My HD box from my cable company apparently only supports 1080i. My HDMI input reads: 1920 x 1080i @60hz in high def channels and 720 x 480i @60hz in non-HD channels. I would like to know am I'm getting the most out of my TV in these setting? Also, is it a problem that I have 1080p capabilities and I can only transmit 1080i?

This is just me but I wouldn't recommend paying high dollar for a HD cable box. You don't get that many channels to view right now unless your ok with watching one or 2 channels that are worth looking at. To get the best use out of your HDTV, it would be best to invest in a Blu-Ray player for HD movies or get a console for gaming if that is what you are in to doing. Those will be the best use for your HD viewing on your TV.

Default appears to always be "air" or TV. You can re-name or "edit" the source list using the on-screen menu on the TV.

When changing between connected devices you'll need to use the source button on the TV or TV remote.

Alternately if you have a Samsung audio receiver (or possibly other manufacturers) when you connect devices with HDMI through the receiver first then to the TV with HDMI the TV automatically changes the source to device most recently turned on.

Check the setup options on your DVD menu. Your DVD may not be "HDTV compatible", or you may need to change the resolution setting to 720i, 720p, 1080i or 1080p.

Also check the picture ratio, make sure it's set to 'widescreen' or 16:9.

Most satellite companies provide this for you through the on-screen menu on their receiver.

For example with DirecTV access the Settings/Set-up area of the Menu and then find Remote Control set-up. On-screen directions will tell you how to program the remote and give you various codes based on TV manufacturer.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs and the current generation non-Internet@TV TVs.

Additionally, the "C" model TVs and BD players do not offer a traditional browsing experience.

This unit does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.

Question

Picture does not fit the screen; all edges are cut off.

The lower, upper, right and left edges of the picture do not appear. Example: the running scoreboard during a basketball game cannot be seen, TV channel logos appear cut off, as go the tops of people's heads when viewing programming. I have tried adjusting all settings on the TV, including picture size. "Zoom1" and "Zoom2" do not present themselves as options on my TV (I cannot select them). Have called cable provide and all setup is correct.

I'm sorry for the confusion. AllShare connects your TV and compatible Samsung mobile phones/ devices through a home network. On your TV, you can view call arrivals, SMS messages and schedules set on your mobile phones. In addition, you can play media contents including videos, photos and music saved on your mobile phones or the other devices (such as your PC) by controlling them on the TV via the network. Additionally, you can use your TV for browsing web pages in your mobile phones. This feature uses the DLNA standard and is not connected or a part of the Internet@TV feature. The C5000 does not have access to any internet content built into the TV, including Internet@TV.

All North American Samsung TVs will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and only 100v-127v 60Hz power. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal (or higher voltages), you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country.
