Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your question. Your model doesn't have Smart Hub. However, it does have InfoLink, which is service that sends weather and a few other pieces of information in from the Internet. So the message was sent to everyone who had a TV with some Internet functionality to simply alert them of some maintenance on the servers.

Question

what kind of ethernet cable do I use to hook up TV to modem/router on my PC?

I have a 40B6000 LED TV. I've been told to purchase a RJ45 cable. I will need 100 ft. Do I need CAT5e? or CAT5e patch cord? I want to know the exact cord so I don't have to return it because it doesn't work.

With all the ethernet port equipped Samsung TVs, you will want to use a standard Cat5 cable (do not use "patch" or any other kind of Cat5 since it may not work with the TVs).

Great question. As a matter of fact, the B6000 offers one component connection that doubles as a composite connection along the rear of the set. The TV also offers 4 individual HDMI connections as well for your convenience.

Thanks for the question. I assume you are asking about the Vesa wall mount. The mounts bracket size will be 200mm x 200mm. If you are asking about the actual dimensions of the unit, those are: with out stand- 38.7 x 1.2 x 24.8, with stand- 38.7 x 10.0 x 27.1 (WxDxH).

The UN40B6000 does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. The PiP systems on the Samsung TVs do not allow for dual secondary connection viewing. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.

Question

Is the Samsung 40B6000 3D compatible?

I do remember when I bought my television one year ago, Samsung had something that made it compatible with 3D. I know that the television is not 3D specific and cannot change it in real time but will I still be able to view 3D through a 3D blu-ray player?

Unfortunately, the 2009 and earlier model series Samsung TVs and Samsung Blu-Ray Players (not the year they were produced, just the year of the model implementation) will not be eligible for upgrades to the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or 3D. For the TVs, the panel material isn’t able to display 3D content and the internal hardware (processors, HDMI ports, etc.) on both the TVs and the BD players are not compatible with 3D, the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or any other 2010 feature.

The processor on the Samsung 120Hz/240Hz units will always display at their respective Hz. Even when the signal is only being transmitted at 60Hz, it will always display at 120Hz/240Hz since the processor is always upconverting the signal. Activating the Auto Motion Plus feature will allow for judder reduction and blurring reduction, depending on what settings you activate. This will enhance your 120Hz/240Hz viewing. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Also, the TV will only accept a 60Hz signal, which is why the PC resolution says 60Hz. This means that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box.

Most PCs do not send audio and video through the HDMI cable. The HDMI port on the PCs are mostly used for Video transmission only, with audio from the PC going to the TV via a separate cable. Please contact your PC's manufacturer for more information. That said, in order to hear audio from your PC as well as video, please follow the following instructions. On the back to the TV, there should be an HDMI port that is labeled "HDMI 1/DVI". Connect your PC to that port with the HDMI cable, then from your PC audio output (should be a 3.5mm jack, like a headphone jack), connect to the "PC/DVI Audio In" port located right under the HDMI 1 port, with a 3.5mm jack cable. That audio port is specifically synced to the HDMI1/PC input on the TV. Following these instructions should allow you to hear and see your computer's signal. All this information is also available on page 11 of the User's Manual.

Currently, the Samsung App Engine will only be available on the 2010 “C” Samsung TVs with Itnernet@TV. This means that all 2009 “B” units and 2010 “C” units that do not offer Internet@TV or Samsung Apps will not be receiving an update to run Samsung Apps and any of the associated applications at this time. To access Samsung Apps on non-Internet@TV units, you can connect a 2010 Samsung Blu-Ray player to your TV.

The WIS09ABGN LinkStick can be purchased at several major retailers or at the www.samsungparts.com website. They can also be reached by calling 800-627-4368.

Question

Why does the tv reset to default settings every time I turn it off?

I will set the tv to my prefered picture settings but every time I turn it off and turn it back on it goes back to the default settings. The same thing with the melody setting that sounds when you turn on and off the tv. I set it to be off but every time I turn it back on the melody plays because it went back to the default setting.

Call Samsung's 1-800 number and they walk you thru it easily. Try this first - put the source as "TV" - then hit Menu > Setup > Plug & Play > then run thru those options. The second option should offer you the choice of Store Demo or Home Use. At least, that's how it works on my model.

Question

Does this TV have PIP and Guide Plus?

The Guide Plus is a feature that that is independent of cable systems that is a really neat feature. It provides programming information for your channels and you can get info for the next 24-48 hours. It tells not only the name of the program but a little data about the show, similar to what is in the TV Guide.
