Customer questions and answers for samsung 32" Class 5000 Series 1080p LED HDTV
Question
60HTZ or 120HTZ
Everywhere that I look they advertise this set as a 60HTZ set. Yet under the specs on your site it says that it is Auto Motion Plus 120HTZ. Is this something different than the typical refresh rate that I am thinking of? What is the deal?

I'm sorry for the confusion. The C5000 series TVs are only 60Hz capable. For Samsung LED TVs taht offer higher then 60 Hz, please have a look at the C6000 (120Hz) series and the C7000 series and higher (240Hz).
It is 60 Hz. If you want better, spend several hundred more and get the UN32C6300.

Although a universal remote would be much easier to set up in this fashion, the Remote that comes with the TV can only be used with the TV itself. If you have Samsung devices that offer Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) connectivity, then you may be able to use your one TV remote to control said devices without having to program anything.
Most firmware updates resolve software bugs that have been discovered post launch. If you are not experiencing any problems with your TV you may not need the firmware update. Firmware updates can be found in the Download Center in the Support section of the website and will include a short description of what the Firmware does.
part of the picture on the left and right is beyond viewing. I've tried all modes.

I would be happy to help you out with this. In order to change the aspect ratio (screen size), you will want to head into the TV's menu, then to the picture sub-menu. Once there, head into the "Picture Options" option. Within that option, you will see the "Size" adjustment. Clicking into that will allow you to change the picture size of the screen. I would also suggest adjusting the aspect ratio of the signal on the 3rd party device that is connected to the TV.
I consider this TV perfect for an RV if used at night. The power save drops the brighness down and therefore the power drain on the RV as lights are turned OFF. You must install this in an area that doesn't have excessive vibration and must within 15 degrees of veritical orientation. I also bought the sound bar (model number contains 450, but don't remember the rest of the number) and mounted that at the top of the wall, above the TV. I used the optical cable supplied with the sound bar to connect to the TV but is only 6 feet long, which was OK for my mounting. However I was going to mount it to cabinets directly above the bed, but I would need to purchase about a 15 Ft audio, optical cable. I mounte it upside down also to make the existing cable reach. That reverses the left and right speakers, which is fine for now. I don't use the subwoofer as it takes up floor space and I don't want to disturb neighboring campers. It is easy to remove the audio system for in house, when not traveling. Also, I made the TV mount so it would be easy to remove the TV and take it in the house when not RV'ing.
I'm extremely happy with this combo. PS - for now I use a portable DVD player to provide the picture. In the future I will get a Blu-Ray player.

Your TV cannot connect to internet sites. Your TV has networking capabilities to connect to your home network and stream media from DLNA and Allshare devices to your TV. The TV does not have a browser so it cannot connect to any specific websites and does not have the hardware to use apps or widgets. I have included our How-To video on connecting your TV to your home network with the wireless Linkstick.

None power saving mode only uses 20-30 watts. In Eco Sensor mode with min Backlight 0 get 1 to 10 watts. Mine is set to Eco Sensor with Backlight 10 and gets 10 to 18 watts.
Compare this to normal LCD lighting 60 to 100 watts, CRT 110 to 130, Plasma 250 to 320 watts. Using 32 inch for all comparisons.
Although the wattage and amperage numbers are not readily available (since daily usage varies from owner to owner depending on settings and content), I can say that most all current generation Samsung TVs are EnergyStar4.0 compliant. This ensures the best possible performance with minimal power usage.
I see the UN32C5000 as a 60hz TV on all other websites but this site says its 120hz. Which one is correct?

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps or any other internet content, it can access internet content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing). The C5000 also allows you to access content from a DLNA device (PC, Cell Phone, Etc.) through a home network with the AllShare DLNA system on the TV.

It does support a video loop. But, the problem I am running into is the menu pops up every time the video loops. So, if you have a 3 min video set to loop you will see the menu every 3 minutes. Also you will need to look up what kind of video formats are supported. From my experience it likes WMV and MP4 with mpeg4 codec. It didn't like MP4 with h.264 codec for some reason. HandBreak will fix most video conversions.

Monster Cables are a great quality cable. If its HDMI, Composite (yellow RCA), Component (RCA, Red, Blue, Green) or VGA cable it will work just fine. The branding of the cable doesn't matter as long as the monitor will support the input. Hope this helps.

Question
Is the LED better than LCD for gaming?
LCDs have a problem with lag on the rendering of the image for games. With games like Guitar Hero, that means if you strum in time with the screen, you miss the beat for the game console. I read somewhere that the lag time on a LED screen can be as low as 2 milliseconds. Is that true?

Since the Samsung LED TVs actually use a LCD panel with LED backlighting, the response times will be similar to those of the conventional LCD TVs. Both Samsung LEDs and LCD TVs both offer response times of as low as 2ms with an average of 4ms across the board (Plasma TVs actually offer the best response time at sub-1ms -that's not a typo). That said, many of the newer music games do offer a syncing feature that will compensate for the TV and sound system lag.
Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs and the current generation non-Internet@TV TVs.
