Questions & Answers for samsung 3D Active Glasses

Question

3D Glass for all new and future models 3D Tv's?

Will my 3D Glass work with other models that are LCD - LED - PLASMA?
If so, will it continue to work with future Tv's models that at 120Hz and 240hz or more?
I just don't want to be stuck with buying new 3D glass down the road when I up grade my TV to fine out my 3D pair is not compatible with new 3D devices! It's these 3d glass are very versatile with new Samsung stuff.

Currently, there are two different types of glasses available from Samsung which are not interchangable between the 2010 and 2011 series TVs. Although the glasses are supported between different display types (LCD, Plasma etc) they will not work with different generation TVs.

As for future models, it's currently uncertain. It would seem that Samsung have really nailed it with the 2nd Generation glasses technology though, so i wouldn't see why they would change the design unless they see a product, or financial, benefit in doing so.

Currently, all of the Samsung 3D glasses are compatible with the 2010 Samsung 3D TVs. However, I cannot guarantee that the 2010 product will work 100% with any future products. Also, I unfortunately do not have any information on any future technology or availability.

Although it can't be said for certain, it's unlikely that they will. Currently there is no set standard for the method of communication between the glasses and TV, so the chances of two companies using the same technology is unlikely.
Never say never though!

Since each manufacturer uses their own technology for 3D viewing, Samsung cannot guarantee that the Samsung 3D glasses will work with another manufacturer's 3D TV. The Samsung 3D glasses were designed specifically for use with only the Samsung 3D TVs.

The glasses come with a USB cable.
You charge them from your computer or any USB source.
There are two USB ports on the back of the television.

No- there's no need for firmware upgrades in what is considered to be pretty standard IR (or bluetooth depending on the glasses) technology; in the same way your TV's remote control doesn't need firmware upgrades.
Any issues which would possibly warrant a firmware upgrade would more likely be something that is a hardware defect than an issue which is resolvable by soft-updates.

In the menu is an option for 3D depth, you could potentially try adjusting this setting to avoid "ghosting" or "crosstalk". On the basis that you don't have this issue normally, i could simply be a problem with whatever input format you're using (ie. Digital Content vs Original Bluray media)

There's no pairing required with the IR series of glasses/TVs (SSG-2100's). Simply pop your TV into 3D mode using the 3D button on your remote, then power on the glasses and enjoy.
Ensure that your battery in the glasses has sufficient charge, and that any plastic tabs are removed from the battery compartment before use.

That manual can be downloaded from the support section here on samsung.com. I recommend taking the time to REGISTER all your Samsung Products via samsung.com. When you are registered via the site you can access drivers and other updates for your particular products from THE MY ACCOUNT link while on SAMSUNG.COM.

Question

Constantly Charging

Is it a problem to leave these plugged into the charger constantly when not in use? I rarely use them and so they remain on the charge for very long periods between uses. I just want to make sure that this will not lead to any future problems.

My friend there are several varying opinions on keeping ANY ELECTRONIC device on constant charge. In the general sense it matters because the batteries have internal memories. But if you are using the Charging Station sold by SAMSUNG for the glasses. I have been TOLD that renders the discussion mute because the device supposedly senses when to charge and when not charge the glasses. But from an ENERGY use perspective. Why constantly use even a trickle amount of electricity constantly if it isn't needed?

The red light remains lit until fully charged.
Then, while in use, the light shuts off,
even though they are still on, to conserve power.

Not that we're openly aware of- the root cause could be many things from a faulty LCD lens, to simply some broken wiring.
If you bought them recently, you could try dropping down to the retailer to exchange the faulty pair.
Else, your best bet is to register a Samsung support account from the main page, and file a support ticket for assistance.

SSG-2100AB One lens doesn't shutter

On one of my pairs of SSG-2100AB glasses, the left lens doesn't shutter. It's only been 30 days since I got these glasses. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Sounds like a fault. You could try and obtain a replacement pair from your retailer, or register on the main Samsung website for a support account, register the glasses by serial number, and request support that way directly to Samsung. Samsung should then be able to arrange for an RMA for you if the product is faulty.
