It can be done but the SPH-P100 tab has to be rooted. Also if it is running update EA24 it has to be done manually. please note that this is dangerous for the tab and it will void your warranty. so unless you absolutely can not put up with the activation notification i would not try this. Otherwise google is your best friend.

Turn on airplane mode. Then turn on Wi-Fi. If you shut your Tab off while it's in airplane mode, it will start up again in that same mode, and the Sprint activation prompt will not happen. You will have to turn Wi-Fi on each time you start up from a cold-boot however.

Hi there!

Thank you for your inquiry.

With regard to your concern, the Sprint activation notification on the status bar is preloaded on the phone and there are no configurable options to remove it on the phone.

There's no option for you to use only the Wi-Fi functionality of the device even you're going beyond the Wi-Fi hotspot. However, if you really want to use only the Wi-Fi capability of the device, you need to disable the data plan that you have with your current service provider.

Question

Can I lock the screen while watching a movie?

Hoping there is a capability that would allow me to lock the touch screen so that I can play a movie, give it to my baby and not have them turning off the video or switching screens. Is there a way to lock the screen and still watch and listen to the TV/Movie?

Hi, as I can see you the Samsung TAB, wow! You have a very nice device there. It is a great device. I love it. And about your concern if you can watch video or movie while the touch screen is lock, to tell you honestly it is impossible to do. You cannot watch video once the touch screen is locked. You really need to keep the touch screen unlock to be able to watch video.
For further details regarding this device, we advise you to visit our website www.samsung.com to check for other specifications that you may enjoy with this phone or you can always send us your questions and we will be happy to check our resources and answer it.
Thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.

Hi clayboy70,

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your concern, this only happens once you download an antivirus on the handset itself.

If your would like to customize the "This Belongs To" message, please follow the steps below:

1. Launch the anti-virus
2. From the "Touch screen to protect device screen" tap menu, tap settings, tap remote management, Check Enable lost message, tap lost message, tap Text Before and 3. Enter the information and then tap ok.

Note: You need to download an anti-virus first and for the message "This Belongs To" to appear, they need to set up a pattern lock.

Hi there,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Regarding your concern, upon checking the specifications and settings on the Samsung Galaxy Tab (SPH-P100), there is no configurable option to transfer directly pictures saved on your camera device to the phone.

We recommend saving first the pictures to the computer and then transfer them to the SPH-P100 tab using mass storage. For you to connect the tablet to the computer, it would require you to have the memory card inside the tablet and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

If the microSD memory card came from another tablet and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your tablet so that the tablet will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

To format a memory card:
1. Select the Applications Tab.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select SD Card & Storage.
4. Select Unmount SD Card.
5. Select Format SD Card.
6. Select Tap Format SD Card.
7. Choose Erase Everything.
When the format process is complete, the 'Format SD Card' option will grey out.

Note: Formatting the microSD memory card will delete all information saved on your memory card. I will suggest backing up first your files saved on the microSD memory card.

Mass Storage Settings
1. Select Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select USB Settings
4. Check the box besides Mass Storage.
5. GO back to the Settings, and then select Applications.
6. Choose Development.
7. Uncheck all three options. (USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake)
8. Press the Home Key to return to the home screen.

Tip: Make sure that the Bluetooth is deactivated on the tablet.

Connecting to the computer:
1. Ensure that a microSD memory card with content is loaded into the device's memory card slot.
2. Connect one end of the supported data cable into the device's USB port and the other end into an available USB port on the computer.
3. "USB Connected" will show briefly in the Notification Bar followed by a USB icon.
4. Tap and hold the Notification Bar and pull it down by sliding your finger down the screen.
5. Tap on USB Connected and then select Mount.
6. If prompted on the PC, select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" from the Removable Disk pop-up.
7. If not prompted as in step 6, on the PC open My Computer and select the Removable Disk drive letter that was assigned to the device.

Note: It is now possible to drag and drop (copy & paste) music files between the device and the PC. It is recommended that separate folders for different media types be created on the memory card for better organization.

If the notification does not show up on the tablet or on the computer, try to turn off you tablet or connect the USB cable to another USB port on your computer.

Question

my tab froze while trying to connect to the sprint network. I did not take sprint service and instead use wifi. It won't shut down, what can I do?

I would like to eliminate my tab trying to connect to the sprint network everytime I turn it on as I do not use Sprint, and only use wifi. This tab is totally frozen on the hands free activation screen. I cannot turn it off or move from this screen. Should I dislodge the batters (however I do that?) in order to get this tab to shut off so I can restart it. Please respond ASAP. Thank you.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Regarding the ability to sync with Outlook, Samsung does not provide an application for this option. However, you may sync your phone over the air with the us of Gmail account.

You just need to import/export your outlook information to your Gmail account. Once you did that, from there your Gmail account will automatically sync to your handset wirelessly.

The serial number of the SPH-P100Galaxy Tab is located at the back of the device on the white sticker. You can see MEID (Hex or Dec) number. Also, you can obtain it on the device itself by following the steps below.

STEPS:

• From Home Screen, Press Menu
• Go to Settings
• Select About Device
• Select Status
• Look for MEID (Hex or Dec)

However, if you’re trying to register your product online and it wasn’t working, then you may try it some other time due to the fact that Samsung website is currently updating.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

answer 2
Serial number is usually on the back of the device.. it is the HEX value listed under the last barcode, or from the Tablet itself by going to SETTINGS -> about my galaxy tab -> Status. It is listed under the MEID number.

Disable the WiFi connection before attempting to update firmware or similar. Firmware, o/s, etc. updates will fail if attempted over WiFi network, must be done over carrier network.

Question

How does one remove a WiFi setting from the existing list on a Galaxy Tab?

I am unable to cause the device to remove (eliminate) a Wi-Fi network setting. It will not "forget" the network. I want to clear the setting completely and then enter fresh information because and although the device can read that there is LAN, it is unable to secure a connection and just continues cycling, i.e., Obtaining IP address, scanning, remembered and then disabled

you might need to reset the whole thing...yup loose your data, restore to factory settings....I've done it twice now in about a month....this is what happens when you rush to market. But that should be it. Load everything on the SD card, and go to appBrain, and register, will pull up all you paid apps, and you can print them out so you can go back SLOWLY and re download all your stuff again.

Honeycomb is for the 8.9 and the 10.1 only, it requires a dual processor, but don't worry, there isn't anything really new, it's and Android, and Android doesn't really create anything new, they just abandon OS's
