Hi sweetLuLu,

Thank you for your inquiry and we understand that you want to know how to transfer pictures and contacts from your old phone to the new phone via micro SD card.

You can try putting your micro SD card from your old phone to the new phone that you have and check if you will be able to see the pictures and contacts that you have on the SD card.

If its not letting you see the pictures you have on the micro SD card, please contact us with additional information regarding the model number/brand of the old phone that you have so that we may better assist you.

To check the model code of the phone, please check the back of the handset as you take the battery out. Other options to check the model code is through its package and user guide.

We look forward to your response.

There are many things you can do, not all may be what you want to do though. :) The longer the screen stays on and the brighter it is, the more power gets consumed. Set the screen timeout/sleep to 30 seconds (Settings > Display > Screen Timeout). Reduce the briteness of the display (Settings > Display > Brightness)

Use non-live wallpaper, and turn off animations (Settings > Display > Animations)

Disable the LED notification light (Settings > Display > Notification Flash)

Disable Hytatic/Vibrate everywhere you can

Also WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS consume a good deal of power.

Then there are applications that help. Some are widgets that let you toggle some of those settings (http://goo.gl/B6FWy). Others are battery management apps (http://goo.gl/rW9Rj). Others help "recalibrate" the battery (http://goo.gl/mK8Nk) if you have a "rooted" phone, basically the phone keeps info as to what power level equals a dead battery and what is a full battery and the phone acts accordingly, sometimes these values can be wrong, a re-calibrator fixes that. Then also on rooted phones mostly you can use a CPU manager (http://goo.gl/5ykjS) so you can reduce the CPU speed when it's not needed which also consumes power.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables.
Battery power consumption depends on a number of factors, such as network configuration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, and other application usage patterns.
Some variables that may affect battery life are:
• Backlight settings set to always on or a long amount of time
• Ring tone settings set to higher volume settings
• Vibrate settings turned on
• Using Internet Services including Text Messaging
• Making and/or Receiving calls in, or simply standing by in, an analog service area
• If you tend to be in a "weak" coverage area where your signal strength meter shows only 1 to 2 bars
• Using non-SAMSUNG charging accessories can cause battery life and other issues, as well as void the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

If the battery is not holding a charge it may mean that it is not charging properly. Make certain that the charger cable is properly plugged in. It is also possible that the battery may be damaged. If you suspect that it may be, or should this issue continue to occur, please feel free to call us here at Samsung Technical Support at 1-888-987-4357.

Thank you for choosing Samsung.
Sincerely,
Technical Support

Personally for me, I adjusted the brightness of screen, then looked at the apps running in background and adjusted settings for them. Also, dont forget to have it turn display off around 15 secs..not 1 minute which eates battery quickly. Things like checking e-mail (automatically) drains as well. Hope this helps.

To do this without an app or a cable you would need to use bluetooth between the phone and the computer, assuming you have a computer with bluetooth. If you have a USB cable for the phone, there are drivers you can install on the computer (http://goo.gl/ayPU7) so when you connect it to the USB port on the computer, it will show parts of the phone as a drive you can access. If you are using a MicroSD card in the phone, you can use a MicroSD Card Reader (http://goo.gl/yO2eg) on your computer, remove the MicroSD card from your cell phone, put it in the card reader, move files around, eject the MicroSD card from the computer and insert it back in your cellphone. You can also use apps that make use of Cloud Services like DropBox (http://goo.gl/3VAXn) and move the files to DropBox on your computer, then download them with the DropBox app on your cellphone that you can install from the market. There are also other applications that will setup file sharing on a wifi network (http://goo.gl/IMzXB) or bluetooth (http://goo.gl/9A7Xw), and even FTP server apps for android phones (http://goo.gl/SDLlS). Personally I use either direct bluetooth sends from my phone to PC or PC to phone, or dropbox.

On some CPU's with Windows 7 you have to Update the drivers. First plug in your phone like you are asked to. Turn on USB Storage. Click on the Start button at the bottom left of the screen and go to Devices and Printers. More than likely there will be a third section labeled as Other which should show Samsung Android USB Device with a caution sign on it. Right click it and choose Properties. then choose the Hardware tab. Click on the Properties button at the bottom. Choose the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button. From now on whenever you plug in the phone and turn on USB storage your CPU should be able to detect it.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support!

It's not necessary to download a driver to transfer files between the SPH-M930 and a computer. Please refer to the steps below.

Press the Home Key
Plug the cable into the phone
Plug the other end of the cable in a USB port
Tip: Avoid the use of multiport hubs if possible
After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer, pull it down
Tap USB Connected
Tap Turn on USB storage
The PC may throw an option window. Click on Open folder to view files.
Navigate to the desired files to be transferred and either drag and drop them over or copy and paste them into the directories.

Tap Turn off USB storage on the device

There are many ways to do this but without specifically knowing where your contacts are to start from, I would say the most general answer is to ensure that your google contacts have phone numbers and email addresses. Then you can sync your phone up to google.

Question

How do I get downloaded apps to show on my screen?

I have downloaded a few apps to my new Samsung Transform Ultra from the Android Market. Although they've been installed (I can see them under "Manage Apps"), no shortcut icon was installed anywhere. When I click the menu button, I see only 16 apps, most of which came with the phone, and I can't scroll to another screen to see more apps. If I try to add a shortcut, the apps don't show up in the list. I've tried a soft reset (removing the battery, replacing after 2-3 minutes), but I still don't see my downloaded apps anywhere except for under "Manage Apps," and I can't do anything there to get them on my screen. Help!

Odd for sure. Some (though very very rare) apps are functional only and work in the background and do not have an icon, but I don't think that is your issue. Might I suggest downloading "Astro" file manager in the market and using that to explore the files to see where they reside, try moving them and see if that does anything, i'd suggest moving them up, not down (deeper). The only other suggestion I have at the moment (im sure ill wake up at 2am with the solution... thanks lol) is to download the app "App to SD" then move your apps to the SD card then see if they show up.

These two steps might help for later diagnosis, or it might "wake up" something in the OS that didn't realize it wasn't working. Lame I know, but who knows.

I had the same problem when connecting to my laptop. Finally solved it. When the found new hardware wizard pops up let it connect to the internet to find the driver. It connected to the internet, found the driver, and installed it It did this twice so there must have been a couple of drivers it needed. Now all is working well.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

If you need additional assistance, feel free to ask us on Twitter @GalaxySsupport or @samsungservice for speedy responses in the U.S.

Question

When calling voicemail my screen goes out too quickly

Is there a way to adjust the amount of time that my voicemail screen stays up? Whenever I attempt to enter my password, I have to constantly tap the screen just to get it to come back up so that I can finish with my password. This is extremely annoying. I have tried to figure out how to make that screen stay active longer, without any luck.

Same thing happened to me. Go to your phone's settings and click on "Display". Click on "Screen Timeout" and you can adjust the setting there from 15 sec to 30 min. I set mine to 30 sec and had no problems since. Hope this helps.

Question

Is there a way to fix the Transform Ultra Touch Screen Problem

When touching the screen and dragging your finger, if you stop moving, it will act as if you stopped touching the screen when you didn't. This causes issues with games like Angry Birds and doing simple things like moving icons around.
