Hello and thanks for reaching out!

Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables.
Battery power consumption depends on a number of factors, such as network configuration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, and other application usage patterns.
Some variables that may affect battery life are:
• Blacklight settings set to always on or a long amount of time
• Ring tone settings set to higher volume settings
• Vibrate settings turned on
• Using Internet Services including Text Messaging
• Making and/or Receiving calls in, or simply standing by in, an analog service area
• If you tend to be in a "weak" coverage area where your signal strength meter shows only 1 to 2 bars
• Using non-SAMSUNG charging accessories can cause battery life and other issues, as well as void the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

If the battery is not holding a charge it may mean that it is not charging properly. Make certain that the charger cable is properly plugged in. It is also possible that the battery may be damaged. If you suspect that it may be, or should this issue continue to occur, please feel free to call us here at Samsung Technical Support at 1-888-987-4357.

Thank you for choosing Samsung.

Question

Why does my Epic change the 10-digit phone number to a 7-digit phone number when texting?

When texting I have just recently started having issues with the numbers being used.
If I manually enter the recipient's 10-digit phone number it will go thru. The recipient responds. When I reply, it changes the phone number from 10 digits to 7 digits, which in turn creates an error message see below.

Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. Msg 2114

Question

How do I send a text with a number from my contacts list?

I have "one" contact that will not send texts using all 10 digits AND the contact has all ten digits saved in it. I can only message this person by selecting "new message" each time. VERY frustrating not being able to just simply reply to through the thread. When I attempt to do so, I receive an error message 2114 from 9230," message sent using invalid number of digits".

HI Mrsaharris,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support.

Are you using the stock Messaging application or a third party application?

You can try to delete the contact, then re-add upon replying to the person messaging you. Meaning, please request that contact to send you a SMS, when receiving the text simply add them back to your contacts at that time.

To thoroughly troubleshoot, if would be best if we can get more information from you. At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Question

Okay, Long Story short, i used to be able to transfer music from my laptop to my epic directly over the charge/usb cable. now it wont work...

i would simply plug in the usb, click open to view files, and start clicking and dragging music folders to my media folder on the sd card. now for the past few nights my phone wont except the music by saying the file is no longer there and also when trying to transfer pics and vids off the phone to my comp it wouldnt do it... then i unplug it and try again and it sometimes works. i tryed the debugging on and off and it doesnt work either way. i formatted my card on my phone but that didnt work. also tried it on another comp and it didnt work. also tried my moms epic and same problem... now to top it off, it wont even become accesable on my laptop. it just shows a removable drive in "My Computer" that has no size... whats going on????? im irritated to say the least. sorry this was so long :/

Hi Vanlon64,

Please try a different USB cord. Ideally, use a OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) USB cord, similar to the one that came packaged with the phone. If you've formatted the MicroSD card, please make sure that it's mounted to your device.

You may also try a soft reset: power off device, remove battery and leave it out for at least 30 seconds, insert battery and power back on.

I've also included a link to a tutorial on transferring files between the Epic and a computer.

Question

how can i fix my samsung epic?

when is turned off and plugged in it tells me the "battery is disconnected" and when i turn it on and plug it up to charge it tells me the "charging has paused because the battery temp is to high or to low", but the battery is cool to the touch. so is there a recall on this or do you send me a new phone or what? and what I have seen all over the web is that this is a common problem with these phones, but no one has a answer on how to fix it.
