Question
SpinPoint 80GB hd only shows 31.4 GB in vista home premium formatting option
I tried changing jumper settings listed on the hd label to no avail. I also compared the jumper settings from the manual and they are totally different from those on the label. I tried the jumper settings from the manual and they don't effect the 31.4 GB capacity. Further, I tried chkdsk on the drive and there are no errors. Is there a solution or is the hd now defective and I should cease to use at all, even with the 31.4 GB?

What is causing this message to come out at boot time? Is there a tool I can download to check my drive?
Hard disk failure is imminent, back up your drive and replace.
