Yes, I support up to 32GB SDHC. However, based on the owner's manual, it depends on the manufacture, but I guess most of the branded SD card should work with it. I have not run into any problem personally - yet.

Question
I can't record for long periods of time
I have had a problem since I purchased the camcorder with being able to has strecord for long periods of time. I have purchased an 8GB card, I have taken it back to the store where I purchased it, but they don't understand what I am trying to tell them. The instructions tell me to select the "storage type", but my camcorder doesn't have that option.
My camcorder keeps telling me the memory storage is low and I need to record at a lower resolution. I have the resolution set as low as possible. I can only record about a minute of time on a 8GB SDHC card, which should allow me several hours of recording time. I tried reformatting the card but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

format memory card FORMAT Use Format if you want to delete all files completely or to correct problems on the storage media. After formatting, the speed of the storage media becomes more stable. However, ensure that formatting can delete all files on the storage media including protected files and all settings can be restored. 1. Press the MENU button Control (Left/Right) button “Settings” Control (Up/Down/OK) button “Format.” 2. Select the desired storage media with the Control (Up/Down) button, and then press the OK button. (SMX-F53/F54 only) 3. A message appears asking for your confirmation. Select "Yes" using the Control (Left/Right/OK) button. 4. Press the MENU button to exit the menu. • Do not remove the recording medium or perform any other operation (such as turning off the power) during formatting. Also, be sure to use the provided AC adapter, as the recording medium may be corrupted if the battery becomes exhausted during formatting. If the recording medium becomes corrupted, format it again. • • Do not format the storage media on a PC or other device. Make sure to format the storage media on this camcorder. Format the memory card in the following cases: - Before using a new memory card - If the memory card was formatted on other devices - If the memory card was used to record on other devices - If the camcorder cannot read the memory card A memory card with the protection tab set to lock will not be formatted. If there is no storage media inserted, it cannot be selected and will be dimmed in the menu. You cannot format when the battery power is insuffi cient. We recommend you use the AC power adaptor to avoid loss of power while formatting. • • • • • System setting Submenu Items Items Use On-screen display Int. Memory (SMX-F /F 4 only) To format the built-in memory. - “Card” To format a memory card. -

I've had my camera for a few months now and have been very happy with it. It was working fine up untill the beginning of December. Now Every time I plug it into my computer it pops up a message that says "USB is not properly detected. Check USB connection" I've read through your F.A.Q. and I cannot find anything in it to help me with this issue. I have 3 different USB ports on my laptop and none of them work. I have a cooling fan under my lap top that works by connecting it to the USB and it works just fine whenever I have it pluged in... What do I need to do?!

You can use SD (Secure Digital) and SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards with this camcorder. We recommend you use an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. This camcorder supports SD cards up to 2GB. We cannot guarantee normal operation with SD cards bigger than 2GB. MMC (Multi Media Card) and MMC Plus are not supported. Compatible memory card capacity: SD: 1GB ~ 2GB SDHC: 4GB ~ 32GB For video recording, use a memory card that supports faster write speeds (above SDHC Class 6 card). SD/SDHC memory cards have a mechanical write-protection switch. Setting the switch prevents accidental erasure of files recorded on the card. To enable writing, move the switch up in the direction of the terminals. To set write protection, move the switch down. • • • • • SDHC
Sometimes it will even lockup when switching from recording to viewing. None of the buttons will work, it won't even shut off. I have to pull the battery to shut it down. What should I do? I just received this as a gift for Christmas 2011.
