Question

Why does my microwave shut down when cooking food with high moisture.

Everytime we cook anything that creates steam, (bacon, mac n chease cups specifically) the microwave will completely shut dow. The screen goes blank and will appear completely dead. After about 15 to 30 minutes it will restart, which at that time I have to reset the clock and everything.

Unplugging the unit will not even reset it quicker. My last microwave had no problems with any ofthese items.

I have to admit that is strange. Have you tried running the fan while it's cooking? It could be a safety mechanism to prevent fire.

I don't know if that's possible, however, you can purchase a microwave leak tester rather inexpensively to check it.

The backplate itself could be used as the template. Just center it above the range and draw circle in the holes, as we drill.

The membrane switch is bad. That is the pad that you press to start the microwave.

How can I clean the inside glass since it is covered with a "screen" that doesn't appear to be removable?

I've only had the microwave about a month and already see spatters on the glass, which are not on the outside where I can clean them.

Why would you want to clean in between the glass? There should not be any residue or dirt in between the glass. Simply clean the both sides of the glass.

Question

Water vapor appears to be building up between door windows and screen

This is less than two months old and already the screen inside the door appears to be becoming discolored. I run the exhaust fan when using the cooktop.

Condensation between the glass is a normal occurrence when cooking foods with a high water content. It is recommended that there be 4" of space around the microwave to allow free air circulation so water vapor can escape, and to promote evaporation of any condensation.
This also is to prevent the heating of nearby objects when the unit is using the heating elements. This is a standard precaution with any toaster-oven.

What Temp does cooktop need to be to start exhaust fan?

The instructions say the fan starts automatically when it senses heat from the cooktop. We have cooked severl things and the fan has yet to start by itself. How hot does it need to be?

black charcoal filter and instructions

One question, two comments:

(1) How do I install the black charcoal filter? It's NOT in the parts list on page 6 of the installation manual. There are NO pictures that look like this microwave in the manual. Page 13, step B2 shows the installation but that diagram is all wrong. The filter looks like it can fit in that space as shown but to get there would require removing the entire skin - clearly not a user accessible feature. The plastic vent can't come off because the door is in the way. So what do I do with it?

(2) Your manual stinks. This microwave vents out the top but the pictures and directions don't tell you to account for this. Luckily I did. You need to at least show pictures of the needed clearance for the vent.

(3) Why vent via the top? Your diagrams show 12 inch cabinets over the microwave but that's almost never done. Most installations pull the cabinet forward for style. In a replacement scenario where the cabinet is already in place, this can mean the vent blows into the cabinet's bottom. Not a smart design at all.

This is my 2nd OTR Samsung microwave. The last one only lasted 4 years. I'm giving Samsung another chance since I've had good results with other Samsung products in the past.

Unit sweating on outside

Cool It off, LOL. When that happens, are you cooking something on the stove top below?
If you are, turn on the fan. If you cooking something inside the microwave is producing a lot of steam, turn on the fan. Quite honestly, microwaves don't have pores that sweat. If yours does, the me know I want to buy from you, I'll be rich.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. If you cook food with a high moisture content on the stove top, this is normal since the microwave would be directly overhead. You can work around it by leaving the microwave door ajar so that the air can circulate on both sides of the door. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

PROBLEM WITH INSTALLING TOP SUPPORT BOLT

THE INSTALL WENT WELL UNTIL I WAS INSTALLING THE TWO TOP SUPPORT BOLTS. THE R/H BOLT WENT IN OK BUT THE L/H BOLT WENT IN PART WAY AND JAMMED. KNOW THE BOLT WILL NOT TIGHTEN OR COME OUT. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO. THE UNIT FEELS VERY SECURE AS IT IS. THANK YOU.

The weight is supported on the mount, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with leaving only one top screw firmly mounted. Check for cross threading of the screw or maybe its getting caught up in the hole.
The recepticle on the microwave could have a foreign object in it and problems with the threads.

Why not run a thread chaser on the microwave. Check the bolt if the threads look banged up on it run a thread tap on it.

Terrible microwave. It is NOT VENTLESS. and it has ruined by new cabinet doors that are above the microwave. I cannot use the matching stove for any moist foods such as pasta or gravies.

When I contacted Samsung they told me the moisture inside of the door panel and inside of the microwave itself as well as the moisture accumulation on my kitchen cabinet doors was NOT normal and replaced the microwave unit. The second one did the same thing and Samsung sent a repairman to my home. It was installed properly but I was told that it must be vented out of the house. That means I would have a vent going through my top cabinet and through the airspace that then goes to the ceiling since I have 10 ft ceilings. It cannot be vented through the wall since the wall is a normal 4 inch space. Again, I cannot cook pasta or gravies on my matching stove because of the moisture that accumulates. nor does it remove odors or air borne grease.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this product as well as Samsung.

Mine came with a charcoal filter. The instructions made it sound like that item was an accessory. Mine was packaged in plastic wrap and needed to be installed behind the grill above the door. It takes about 2 minutes.
