We just installed the microwave a few weeks ago and there is some type of a plastic film over the control panel. It looks terrible , like there is air between the film & the microwave, so it's getting a little wavy & hard to see through. I tried to see if it would peel off, but I don't want to force it is deisned to stay on. Not sure what to do with it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the question. Samsung microwaves are shipped with strips of protective film over the control panel as well as along the door edges and other external surfaces to help prevent marks and scratches, but this film should peel away very easily. The control panel also has a plastic membrane that should not be removed. If it isn't obvious which category the film on your SMH1713 falls into, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG or using the Live Chat option on the support page to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Yes, the plastic film protects the control panel during manufacturing and shipping. Remove once the unit is installed. This is also true for any film on the unit around the edge of the door and door handle.

Yes, it has the option to either vent internally (which I opted for), or externally. The installation is rather simple as well.

Yes it can. It has a diverter shroud around the fan. In fact that's the way it comes in the box. Very easy to reposition the diverter for internal or external use.

Samsung recommends installing the SMH1713 under a cabinet that is at least 30" above the cooktop, so the bottom of the microwave would be about 13-1/2" from the cooking surface. This applies to both electric and gas ranges.

Thanks for the question. You can press the Turntable On/Off button on the control panel to turn the turntable on or off. If it's turned on but doesn't rotate, try removing the tray and roller guide ring, washing them in warm, soapy water, and wiping down the surface of the microwave. Check the top aligning bolts make sure that they are equally aligned and tight. Also make sure you installed all the hardware in it’s proper sequence

I had this same problem with my microwave from the moment I first plugged it in. After getting an appliance repairman in he quickly identified that the buzzing was coming from a faulty transformer which was vibrating and needed to be replaced. My buzzing was very load. If this sounds similar to your issue then there is a good chance that it is your transformer and it needs to be replaced.

Why does my SMH-1713B unit make a buzzing noise when the door is closed?

I have had this unit for over 1 year with no problems. Today, it started making a buzzing noise whenever the door is closed, even if there is no cooking cycle active. The buzzing stops when the door is opened, and resumes when the door is closed without any other action. Removing power also stops the buzzing (verifying that the microwave was the unit making the noise).

What is the troubleshooting drill for this?
