Question

Stuck after Device Management update

Last night, my carrier pushed the Device management update to my SII. I accepted to install and since then the handset is stuck on a white background screen with "Software Update", a 0% status bar and "loading..." and thats all. This is been there since 4-5 hours now. It eventually drained the entire battery. When I charged it and powered it on, it still comes back to the "Software Update" screen.
I tried to do a hard reset with both the volume button and the power button. It still comes back to the white screen.
Is there any way to get this device to boot up or any way to get the data on the handset back?

You may have some underling update issues with your OS. Try updating the OS. Then reinstalling Kies.

You phone doesn't receive text messages when it's off. Data and time are synced once you turn the phone on. The the messages get stamped by the phone once it's powered up.

Question

When my screen turns off my 4g connection turns off, is this normal?

I've been noticing that when my phone screen turns off, my 4g connection turns off as well so if I am listen to music after each song plays, I have to pull my phone out of my pocket, turn on the screen, wait for the internet to connect again and music to start playing before I can put the phone back in my pocket. It's starting to get annoying. Any suggestions?

GPS Issues

My GPS consistently drops in and out when using Google Maps Navigation. This occurs in open areas where a GPS signal should not be obstructed.

You have quite a few options here although I'm not quite sure what the full capabilities of your previous programs were. Allshare comes with the phone and can be downloaded to your PC to share files wirelessly. You also have Doubletwist, and Samsung Kies.

In the future asking for help like this, you computer information is helpful to help you further. Like what Operating System you're running (Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7) and more detail about what specifically you're trying to accomplish.

Off the record. Yes. It is a Galaxy flagship phone. Officially nothing has been confirmed by Samsung or T-Mobile.

Samsung is in close communication with both Google and our carrier partners to upgrade devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Specific models that will receive the ICS update will be listed on this page: http://bit.ly/Izoo1Y

WiFi Calling Issue

I continue to experience a problem with WiFi calling. While connected to a known good WiFi network (and this has been noted on several WiFi systems).

I sometimes cannot make a call, but more troubling and more often than not, when I place a call on WiFi there is either a significant delay in each party hearing the other speak, or the party I'm calling can't hear me at all but I can hear them perfectly.

Calling back does not resolve the issue. I've cycled power and also removed the battery for a few minutes, but the issue persists.

Note that if either case above happens, then I need to use my wife's BB on the same WiFi network and that works fine every time.

I'm running 4.0.3 on my SGH-T989, Galaxy S2.

If you are using Wi-Fi calling, i'm assuming you are on T-Mobile in the US or using a 3rd party SIP client

If you are on T-Mobile, try setting the QOS on your router. T-Mobile has recommendations on their site for their Wi-Fi client and you may find similar settings for your 3rd party client on their website
