The SGH-t959 (Vibrant) natively supports English language for operating system language.

You may try to download an application from the Android Market as it does contain a variety of language packs. You may search language packs to find a listing. The packs may vary in capability from displaying fonts, typing, and other features.

Hi perriann,

The format option should be used if you wish to erase data stored on the card or in the event the phone cannot find certain files/folders due to corruption of file table. Corrupt file tables often occur when swapping out the same memory card between multiple devices that read/write to it. In order to format the external memory microSD card, follow the steps below:

Note: When the format process is complete, the 'Format SD Card' option will grey out.
1. Press the Home Key
2. Press the Menu Key
3. Tap on Settings
4. Tap on SD card and phone storage
5. In most cases, the microSD volume will be mounted. It will need to be unmounted in order to format (Format SD will be unavailable until then). Tap Unmount SD
6. Tap on Format SD card
7. Tap on Format SD card after acknowledging the warning about data erasure
After format, tap Mount phone storage so the OS can detect the drive volume. Otherwise, system will be able to utilize the card after format.

Question

Problem with audio playback via bluetooth.

When I try to listen to mp3's vis bluetooth the audio cuts in and out. Only does this when playing thru blutooth and not when using audio jack.

Are you using a Samsung Bluetooth with the phone when playing MP3 music files?

You can do a soft reset on the Bluetooth headset by turning it off, and then press the power button again and wait for the solid blue light before connecting it the phone. Also, please make sure that both devices are fully charged when streaming music.

Thank you for yoru inquiry. When applications are downloaded to the SGH-t959, they are saved to the device's internal memory. This location cannot be changed or configured in any way. This is an Android 2.1 limitation.

Thank you for your inquiry. Are you trying to update your phone using the kiesMini? If not, there are no configurable options to use kiesMini to transfer file. You can try to use mass storage option to transfer files from phone to computer.

Configure Port Mapping

1. Press the Home Key
2. Press the Menu Key
3. Tap on Settings
4. Tap on Applications
5. Tap on USB settings
6. Tap on Mass storage to connect as a portable hard drive device to a PC where an application such as Windows Explorer can detect the phone and allow the exchange of files

Connecting & Transferring

1. Press the Home Key
2. Plug the cable into the phone
3. Plug the other end of the cable in a USB port
4. Sweep down on the Notification bar and Tap USB connected-Select to copy files to/from the computer
5. Tap Mount
6. The PC will throw an option window. Click on Open folder to view files.
7. Navigate to the desired files to be transferred and either drag and drop them over or copy and paste them into the directories.

Once the contacts are already saved on the phone memory, you will have the option to set an image for a contact.

To assign an image to a contact follow the steps below:

1. Press the Home Key.
2. Tap on Contacts.
3. Tap on a contact.
4. Tap on the Add Photo icon and select an action.
5. Tap on a photo.
6. If desired, drag the yellow square to frame a subject and tap Save .
7. Tap Save.

You can also try to update the driver in your computer by trying to launch the run command and type in devmgmt.msc. Click on OK until it launches your Device Manager. Look for any marked items under USB Controllers then right click your mouse until you get the option to update driver.

Were you able to save your contacts on the microSD card before you lost the old phone? If you were able to save the contacts on the SD card, you may try exporting the contacts from the SD card. However, there are no configurable options to retrieve deleted contacts.

1. From the Home screen, touch Contacts.
2. From the Contacts List, press Menu and then select Import/Export.
3. Touch OK to choose all current phone contact entries.

I am having problems updating my firmware from the Samsung Kies mini. I have a Samsung vibrant.

I download the recent version of the firmware to my laptop and then follow the instructions. 1- Please connect your mobile phone. Then on the phone it pops up with a picture of a USB cable and says connected. And the window on my laptop does not give me the option to update it, but it does recognize my phone. It shows the model of my phone and my cell number. Could it be that I have the latest version on my phone 2.2? If anyone could please help I would appreciate it. Thank you

Hi there!

If you want to upgrade the SGH-T959, please refer to the steps provided below.

To download the update:
1. Download the most recent version of Kies Mini by visiting www.TinyURL.com/KiesMini.
Note: Save the file to a desired location – Desktop recommended.
2. Double-click the Kies Mini file. The program will self extract; no action required.
3. Select the desired Language and Location, then click Next.
4. Read the license agreement, check the box for “I accept…” and click Next.
5. Kies Mini will begin the installation.
6. Click Finish.

Prepairing the Vibrant phone for the update.
From the Home screen:
1. Press the Menu key and tap Settings.
2. Tap Applications.
3. Tap USB Settings.
4. Tap Ask on connection.
5. Tap the Home key to exit the settings menu.
6. Tap on menu again>>Settings>>Application>>Development>>Check USB debugging.
7. Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer.
8. Select Samsung Kies at the phone prompt. The PC should recognize several devices and
begin installation.
Note: This is normal and may take a few minutes. Unplug the data cable when completed.

Before updating the device it is important to back up all of your data, including the contents of
the internal (non-removable) SD card
device:
1. Open the Kies Mini application on the PC.
2. Connect the Vibrant to the PC using the USB cable, select Samsung Kies at
prompt.
Note: If the vibrant was recently rebooted, allow the device to finish Media Scanning before
attempting to connect the device to the P
After a few moments, Kies Mini should indicate that a software upda

4. Read the Caution
click Upgrade.
Kies Mini will contact the server and download the upgrade. Depending on the customer
network conditions and connection speed, this could take several minutes.
Note: The phone’s screen may change state or appear to reboot during the process. DO
NOT remove the device from the USB cable or reboot the PC
complete. Doing so can permanently damage the device.
5. Click Ok to finish the update. Wait until the phone is finished rebooting and the Android

Question

GPS Fix?

Is this phone supported by Samsung anymore and are they planning to provide a GPS fix? I've already upgraded to 2.2 with Kies, but everytime I try to use the GPS, it will provide me with the written directions, but it won't provide me with voice directions. It also does not update my location and most of the time has my location a few streets over (even with gps and wifi, etc. on). Once it showed that I was in Quebec, Canada (instead of Dallas, Texas) for about 24 hours straight no matter what I did and no matter how many times I reset it.

1. Remove the battery
2. Wait 2 minutes
3. Replace battery
4. Reboot phone

Applications downloaded from the Android Market must reside in the handset's internal on-board memory where there can be executed and ran. Applications (APK) may be transferred/sideloaded directly from the PC to the on-board memory using the Android SDK. This method is primarly used by application developers to test their applications.
