Hi!

Try to do a soft reset on the phone by powering it off and removing the battery then placing it back again to reboot the handset.

Question

Cannot find the video that I transfered from my Galaxy to my PC.

I connected my Samsung Vibrant to my PC as instructed per this site. I then transferred a video of my daughter to my desktop to save it. I opened the video, it played in Quicktime (that is the program the video chose to use when I opened it), I played it several times. I disconnected my phone and closed quicktime figuring since I hadn't deleted it I would be able to go in and still view it on my phone and rename it and save it to my desktop. When I went back to do just that, I can't locate it. I can't find it on my phone nor the PC. HELP, Please.

When the phone is in silent mode, even if you set your text notification in vibrate mode it will not vibrate at all. so what you need to do is to go to messaging, from the compose message field, tap menu, settings, scroll down, select ringtone should be silent and check the box for vibrate.

Upon checking on Samsung website, the USB driver available is for Windows XP and Vista OS only. However, if you would like to connect your phone to the computer to transfer files via USB data cable then it can be done through Mass Storage without the use of a USB driver. Steps are as follows :

> Ensure that the Memory Card is properly inserted into the device
> Ensure that the USB mode is set on Mass Storage:

> Select Menu
> Settings
> Select Applications
> Select USB settings
> Select Mass storage even if already selected
> Press Home key to return to the home screen > Make sure that USB debugging is uncheck:

> Select Menu
> Applications
> Select Settings
> Development
> Uncheck alll three options ( USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake)

> Connect the USB data cable to the device and a laptop or PC
> After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer, pull it down
> Select USB Connected
> Select Mount
> On the PC, navigate to the Removable Disk assigned to the device. This can be done through the automatic pop up screen or ‘My Computer.’
> Drag and drop (copy and paste) files from other locations of your PC to this folder

If connection is unsuccessful, kindly try to check the following....

> Try using a different USB port (if using a desktop PC, please try to connect the USB data cable at the back port of the CPU)
> Restart the PC and soft reset the phone (turn off and remove the battery for about a minute and put it back in the phone and turn it on again)
> Make sure that the USB cable is samsung genuine accessory
> Try using a different USB cable
> Try to check the removable storage through the "My Computer"
> Disable or turn off the bluetooth connection of the phone

In order to turn off the Safe Mode on the handset, you must do a soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10-15 seconds and then put the battery back in and turn it On again. How do I import contacts into the Vibrant?

SIM card transfer is limited in breadth of data transfer, bluetooth between 2 phones seems to be limited to one contact at a time. Is there a file-transfer scheme (import a *.csv, or a *.pst file) to do this?

Hi there!
What you can do is to sync your contacts to your Gmail account because for this type of phone syncing is over the air via your Gmail account. You need to create a Gmail account on the computer and set up your Gmail account on the phone. You also need to import/export your outlook to your Gmail account, if you have outlook program. Once you did that, on your phone, go to settings, accounts and sync, tap on your Gmail account, make sure to put a check mark on contacts box. From there your Gmail will automatically sync to your phone.

WHY CAN'T I CONNECT TO KIES OR KIES MINI

I am so sick and tired of wasting hours on end trying to connect to kies, install, uninstall, install uk version, un install, install mini kies, message says my phone is not registered, I register my phone, and now after registering, it says incorrect drivers then says product not registered again. One of the main reasons I bought the vibrant was to tether and because was going to be updated to 4g, but neither work at all.. This will be the last samsung I buy,and will never reccomend samsung unless you can resolve this

Hi there,

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The Samsung KIES uk ver. software is not compatible to Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant Phone and the KIES MINI software is updating software tools only for the handset.

If the KIES MINI is still not working, you may double check that you are using the Samsung USB cable that came with the phone and also updated the USB driver for the handset. It is also possible that your handset is already updated that's why the KIES MINI is not working. You may follow these steps below to check the handset if it's updated.

From the home screen touch Menu
Tap Settings
Tap About Phone
Check the Baseband Version and it should be T959UVJI6
If it is not T959UVJI6, then the update has not installed or has not completed installation.
You may go to this link and Click software to download the latest USB driver and KIES MINI software tools to update the handset.

If the handset has already the latest Maintenance Release update software, the handset should have this added features and fixes.

Out of Memory Errors.

I get a Heap 2 out of memory. Allocating 276 bytes but only 224 available. Increase icf setting [s3e] MemSize2 (current value is 5000000) when playing Sims.
Error (Airplay v4.1.3 [224299])

How do I fix this?

Pertaining to your query, the audio file can be transferred on the phone to a different device without having to connect it to a headset, if you intend to transfer audio files on the phone it must be supported by the device:

File Types:
MP3, MP4 / AAC, MP4 / AMR, M4A, 3GP / AAC, 3GP / AMR, OGG, WMA
However if you intend to transfer files from the phone through Bluetooth please follow the steps below:

On the Home screen>tap on Applications>tap on the folder where the audio is located then tap on Bluetooth>check the audio you want to transfer>Enable the Bluetooth> if the Bluetooth device was already listed tap on the device name>If not tap Scan devices then once it is paired>start transferring the audio file from the phone.

If in any case the phone will ask for a password you can use 0000 as a default code for the phone.

Is there a problem with gps?

Gps loses sat lock frequently. Causing mis direction information in unobstrucred areas. I have read there may be a flaw in hardware. Those with newer manufacture date do not appear to have this issue.

A new Samsung application that has been released on the Android market will restore factory default GPS settings without having to perform a reset of the device.
This application is currently available for the vibrant phone.

To install the GPS Restore application:
1. Open the Android Market.
2. In the search box, type “GPS Restore” and tap the search icon.

Pertaining to your query, if you want to transfer picture to your phone from your PC all you need to do is to change the usb setting of the phone to mass storage, please follow the steps below:
On the Phone:
1.Press the Home Key
2.Press the Menu Key
3.Tap on Settings
4.Tap on Applications
5.Tap on USB settings
6.Tap on Mass storage to connect as a portable hard drive device to a PC where an application such as Windows Explorer can detect the phone and allow the exchange of files

Connecting & Transferring
1.Press the Home Key
2.Plug the cable into the phone
3.Plug the other end of the cable in a USB port
oTip: Avoid the use of multiport hubs if possible.
4.Sweep down on the Notification bar and Tap USB connected-Select to copy files to/from the computer
5.Tap Mount
6.The PC will throw an option window. Click on Open folder to view files.
7.Navigate to the desired files to be transferred and either drag and drop them over or copy and paste them into the directories.

Once the Jpeg file has been transferred and you intend to use it as wallpaper, please follow the steps on how to set it on the mobile:
In order to set wallpaper, follow the steps below.
1.Press the Home Key
2.Press the Menu Key
3.Tap on Wallpaper
4.Select wallpaper from either the Gallery, Living wallpapers, or the Wallpaper gallery.

Note: The Gallery is where most of the images files will be stored. If it is desired to select a photo that has been taken with the camera, choose Gallery.

Note: Live wallpapers are preloaded into the device. These wallpapers will be dynamic, moving without interaction. Some of the wallpaper can be interacted with to create a fun experience.

Note: The Wallpaper Gallery contains static still images that can be used as a background.
