Hi miamidon!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Apparently, we do not have any available software nor drivers that you would be needing for you to connect the phone to the computer.

If you are going to transfer media files from your Samsung Vibrant™ Android Smartphone (SGH-T959) to the computer, you may do mass storage so you could transfer them to the computer. For you to connect the phone to the computer, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

To format a memory card:
1. Select the Applications Tab.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select SD Card & Phone Storage.
4. Select Unmount SD Card.
5. Select Format SD Card.
6. Select Tap Format SD Card.
7. Choose Erase Everything.
When the format process is complete, the 'Format SD Card' option will grey out.

Note: Formatting the microSD memory card will delete all information saved on your memory card. I will suggest backing up first your files saved on the microSD memory card.

Mass Storage Settings
1. Select Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Applications.
4. Select USB Settings
5. Check the box besides Mass Storage.
6. Press the Home Key to return to the home screen.

Tip: Make sure that the Bluetooth is deactivated on the phone.

Connecting to the computer:
1. Ensure that a microSD memory card with content is loaded into the device's memory card slot.
2. Connect one end of the supported data cable into the device's USB port and the other end into an available USB port on the computer.
3. "USB Connected" will show briefly in the Notification Bar followed by a USB icon.
4. Tap and hold the Notification Bar and pull it down by sliding your finger down the screen.
5. Tap on USB Connected and then select Mount.
6. If prompted on the PC, select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" from the Removable Disk pop-up.
7. If not prompted as in step 6, on the PC open My Computer and select the Removable Disk drive letter that was assigned to the device.

Note: It is now possible to drag and drop (copy & paste) picture and video files between the device and the PC. It is recommended that separate folders for different media types be created on the memory card for better organization.

If the notification does not show up on the phone or on the computer, try to turn off you phone or connect the USB cable to another USB port on your computer.

Should you desire additional assistance resolving this, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Hi asarutan!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist in unlocking the phone for use on another network. We hold a proprietary licensing agreement with your Service Provider and it would be in violation of this agreement to assist in unlocking the phone.

Your Service Provider has these codes and should be able to provide support for this.

Please Note: Unlocking of the phone, although at the discretion of the service provider is possible, will void all Samsung warranties for support or service.

Features that are available on the intended network may not be accessible on the alternate network. Features on the alternate network may not be available on this phone as these features are not those of the network on which the phone was intended to be used, and therefore, are not programmed.

As to whether or not a phone of this type will be available for the network of your choice in the future, we are only able to provide information regarding models that are currently on the market for sale, as any pre-release information would be subject to change and could therefore be inaccurate at the time of launch.

Hi Bhupendra,

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your concern, you may upgrade you Samsung Vibrant phone to 2.2 Froyo software version using the listed steps below:

To download the update:
1. Download the most recent version of Kies Mini by visiting www.TinyURL.com/KiesMini
Note: Save the file to a desired location- Desktop recommended
2. Double-click the Kies Mini installation file.
Result: The program self extracts; without additional action required.
3. Select the desired Language and Location, then click Next.
4. Read the license agreement, enable the I accept check box, then click Next.
Result: Kies Mini begins the installation.
5. Click Finish.

From the Home screen:
1. Press the Menu key and tap Settings.
2. Tap Applications.
3. Tap USB Settings.
4. Tap Ask on connection.
5. Tap the Home key to exit the settings menu.

This causes the Vibrant to ask what type of connection the customer wants when connecting
the device to a PC, to ensure that the right type of connection is in use for the update.

CAUTION: Before updating the device, it is important to back up all of your data,
including the contents of the internal (non-removable) SD card, to prevent unnecessary data loss.

To upgrade the device:
1. Open the Kies Mini application on the PC.If Mini Kies prompts for an update to its software
and/or to the Windows Media 11 codec, install that first.
2. Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer.
Note: If the Vibrant was recently rebooted, allow the device to finish Media Scanning
before attempting to connect the device to the PC.
3. Select Samsung Kies at the phone prompt.
Result: The PC recognizes several devices. This is normal and may take a few minutes.
Then, Kies Mini should indicate that a software update is available.
4. Click Phone Upgrade
5. Read the Caution statements, enable the checkbox for I have read and understood…then click Upgrade.
Result: Kies Mini contact the server and downloads the upgrade. Depending on the
customer’s network conditions and connection speed, this could take several minutes.
CAUTION:DO NOT unplug or reboot until the update is complete.
The phone’s screen may change state or appear to reboot during the
process. Unplugging or rebooting the PC can permanently damage the
device.
6. Click Ok to finish the update. Wait until the phone is finished rebooting and the Android
home screen displays before disconnecting the device.
NOTE:Mac support is currently under development.
Kies Mini is a Windows-based application. At this time, to upgrade successfully, customers must tether their phones to a Windows PC to download the upgrade.

To check the current software version:
1. Go to the Dialer.
2. Type in *#9999#.

Should you need further assistance, please call Samsung Support Hotline at your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Tip: Just in case you need to contact us about your phone issue, we highly advise you to use a different handset, so that we could walk you through checking the phone while on a call.

How can I turn off the startup sound after upgrading to Froyo?

On the old version of the software on my Samsung Vibrant, I muted the startup and shutdown animation in my settings. Now that I have upgraded to Froyo, I don't have that option. Neither turning down the system and media volume to zero nor putting the phone have had any effect. The startup and shutdown animation are both extremely loud.

Question

How do I turn off the Tmobile jingle on power up?

Someone asked this question before, but I think it's from pre-Android 2.2. It worked when my Vibrant was on Android 2.1...now it doesn't work on Froyo. Right now I place my finger on the speaker on power up to muffle the sound. I read that there's an app that I could try, but it's kind of stupid to need an app to do this.
