Regarding your inquiry, let me provide you with some basic information about the KIES. There are 2 kinds of KIES: the KIES full version and the mini KIES. The KIES full version has not been released in the US, the one that is running right now is an International Released and will not work in the US. And the KIES full version is used for connecting the device to a PC to transfer files. While, the mini KIES which is already been released in the US, is used for firmware update and not for transferring files to and from a PC. The mini KIES can be downloaded from www.samsung.com/us. And with the full version we don’t have exact detail when would this be become available.

With regard to your concern,there are no configurable options to change the font size on your tab. However, you can adjust the font type by following the steps below:

1. In the Display settings menu, tap Font Style.
2. Choose a new font from the displayed options.

Thank you for the inquiry of your Samsung Tab (SGH-T849). We can't assure that there is an application for printing PDF files from the galaxy tab, but you can check on the Android Market for they have thousands of available software that can be download and most of the software’s are free.

You may try printing the PDF file to a printer that has a Bluetooth device. If the PDF is an attachment from e-mail, you may try press and hold the attachment and select send Via Bluetooth. It is Important that the printer has a Bluetooth profile for printing document and I suggest that you may contact the manufacturer of the printer for the Bluetooth specification.

Most issues may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting.Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

IN WARRANTY REPAIR:

If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of liquid damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.

NOTE: A copy of the Proof of Purchase must also be included with the phone when sending it in for service.

OUT OF WARRANTY REPAIR:

For information on what is and is not covered by The Standard Limited Warranty, we invite you to go to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/repairpolicy/servicePolicyWarrantyMain.do and view a full version of the warranty the covers all Samsung phones and accessories.

If the phone has experienced damage or is out of warranty by date (it was purchased more than one year ago) the standard charge will likely apply for the repairs to your phone. Charges start at $65.00 and can increase, depending upon the nature and severity of the issue. We are only able to arrange payment for these repairs through credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

LIQUID OR MOISTURE DAMAGE:

Due to Samsung's policy with repairs, any damage encountered to the phone through water or other liquids can and in most cases will cause corrosion to the inner workings of the handset. In these circumstances, it is no longer feasible to attempt to repair the phone; consequently, the phones received in this condition into our North Texas repair facilities are shipped back to the customer un-repaired. A Customer Service Representative will be able to assist you between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time. The defective product will need to be sent to our repair center and a Proof of Purchase is required. The Repair Administrator will assign an RMA # for the repair that will need to be written under our address on the outside of the package being sent. The phone will be tested and inspected for quality assurance while in our facilities. This will ensure the fact that your phone will be completely functional with all necessary repairs performed when the handset is shipped from our facilities.

Our repair facility will have the phone roughly 5-10 days from the time that it is received. Some dealer locations may offer a loaner phone program while your handset is in repair. Additionally, if your device is in warranty or you have insurance through your service provider, some providers do offer a replacement policy on phones which need servicing. Thank you for your inquiry. I have here the information on how to lock/unlock the orientation of your

device. Just follow the instruction below.

1. Rotate the device to either a portrait or landscape
view.
2. While still in that orientation, tap the status bar to
reveal the Notifications tab, and then drag the tab
to the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap Orientation lock to lock the screen in the
current orientation and then close the Notifications
panel.

> Connect the Tab to the PC through the USB cable, the one that came with the box.
> Make sure USB mode is on mass storage
> How to change USB mode
:> From home screen, tap setting
> Select wireless and network
> USB settings
> tap on mass storage
> When USB Connected screen appears tab mount
> on the computer select open folder to view files
> then copy paste the music to the PC/ Tab or vice versa.

There is no configurable option for the tab to play itunes. As you may well know itunes operate on a separate operating system.

Note: try to convert the itunes to a file that is supported by the tab.

Question

HDMI MultiMedia Dock (ECR-D980BEGSTA)

I just received my Multimedia Dock (ECR-D980BEGSTA) for my Tab. I was given the impression that I would be able to hook this unit up to my PC via the USB and to charge the Tab at the same time.

After setting it up, I have discovered that you can either hook it to the PC via USB - OR - you can charge it, but not at the same time.

Is there a way to get an adapter or something that would allow me to connect the Tab to my PC and charge it at the same time?

Hi there!

Apparently, we do not have any available software nor drivers that you would be needing for you to connect the phone to the computer.

If you are going to transfer media files, you may do mass storage so you could transfer them to the computer.

For you to connect the phone to the computer, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

Mass Storage Settings
1. Select Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Applications.
4. Select USB Settings
5. Check the box besides Mass Storage.
6. Press the Home Key to return to the home screen.

TIP: Make sure Bluetooth is deactivated on the phone.

Connecting phone to computer:
1. Connect the USB cable to the device and to the computer.
2. Bring the Notification Bar, and select USB Connected.
3. Select Mount.

Check on the computer screen if it will recognize the device and Removable Disk will appear on the screen. Select open folder to view files. Choose appropriate folder depending on the media file that you would like to transfer, drag and drop/copy and paste the file from the source folder going to the destination folder.

If the notification does not show up on the phone or on the computer, try to turn off you phone or connect the USB cable to another USB port on your computer.

Question

PDF's with Samsung Tablet

When I try and work with some Pdf files I get the error message that I do not have an updated version of PDF. I did try and update my PDF's but I get the same message. Is there any way I can use a full laptop version of PDF on this device?

Hello there.

Is this happening in your entire pdf file? If yes, please try to remove or delete the pdf file that is not showing or giving you error message and then upload or re-install it again. The one main reason that it’s having an error message even though you already updated the version is because the file might be corrupted, that may affect your tab in the further.
