Hi! Thanks for your question. I suggest performing a soft reset. To perform a soft reset, please power off the device and pull/replace the battery after 2-3 minutes before powering back on.

I have had my sidekick for 2-3 months and I love it. However, as of yesterday it will no longer switch on. When I switch it on the 'start up' screen comes on that says 'T-Mobile Sidekick' etc. This screen just flashes on and off and nothing further happens. When I plug the charger in, the same thing happens with the charging screen.
How can I fix it? I would prefer a way where I wouldn't have to reset my entire phone and lose everything.

Please try to do a soft reset on the phone by powering it off and removing the battery then placing it back again to reboot the handset.

I had the same problem, a new battery and ODIN does not work. I sent mine in to samsung, hopefully you still have the warranty on yours. I read around and the somewhat conclusion is you need to open up the phone and unplug everything and plug it back in. I let samsung take care of that.
How to make the phone vibrate stronger and how to make the signal light to flash brighter?
those Samsung Sidekick 4G Android doesn't give strong vibration and bright flashing light to let the hearing impaired know they got messages!!!!!!! Sidekick LX is much better!

Ihave the same problem and Samsung's answer does not seem to apply to the notification function of the vibration....the only way to get to that bar is to set it to vibrate to the soft keys. Crazy. I agree the old Sidekick was much better, I had the Sidekick 3.

For you to change the vibration intensity on the T-Mobile® Sidekick® 4G Android Smartphone (SGH-T839), please follow the steps below:
1. From the home screen, touch Menu > Settings > Sound > Vibration Intensity. 2. Move the sliding bar to the right to increase the vibration intensity.
Regarding your concern, upon checking the specifications and settings on the SGH-T839 handset, there are no configurable options available to adjust the notification light on the phone.

Thank you for your inquiry. You may need 3rd party software on your computer to convert your music file to a ringtones, because your phone can only accept music file which the file size should not be exceeded on 300kb and not also exceeded on 192bit rate. However, we don’t support 3rd party software, you may have to contact your service provider and check with them if they have possible ringtone converter software.
Once the file is converted to a ringtone, you may follow the steps below for transferring music files between the phone and the Computer.
Before connecting the phone to the computer ensure that the USB mode is set on Mass Storage: > Tap Menu > Tap Settings > Tap Applications > Tap USB settings > Tap Mass storage even if already selected > Tap Home key to return to the home screen
Make sure that USB debugging is unchecked: > Select Menu > Applications > Select Settings > Development > Uncheck all three options (USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake)
Connect the USB data cable to the phone and to the computer’s USB port USB icon will appears on the upper left side on the Notification Drawer, Pull it down the Notification bar Tap USB Connected Tap Mount On the computer, navigate to the Removable Disk assigned to the device. This can be done through the automatic pop up screen or ‘My Computer.’ Click Folder to view files Drag and drop (copy and paste) files from (DCIM/ camera folder) to the desired location of your computer
Note: If these steps won’t work, try to check this stuff….

Is there a way to block text messages from a specific source?
I just got the phone a day or two ago and someone is sending me inappropriate "chats" from a computer. I'd sure like to be able to block out that sender. i have not answered any, just deleted them.

Am i able to get an unlock code for my Sidekick 4g
I am in the military and i have orders to go to South Korea and i need to unlock my phone so it can be taken with me. T-mobile said they can not prove me with the unlock code because it is locked by the producers (samsung) more so than by the company (t-mobile)

Your Service Provider has these codes and should be able to provide support for this.

My phone came with 2 memory cards, a very small one that inserted on the side, and a larger one. Where does the larger memory card go?
The larger card is a micro SD about 1 inch by 3/4 of an inch in size. Did not see any information for use or point to inset on the phone. Where does it go?

The large 1 is a aconverter (the small one fits inside of it), then you can insert it into stadard card readers and it will read the content on your small memory card.

Will the Sidekick 4G continue to be supported past the last firmware update?
Many communities online have problems with this phone being slow, laggy and generally unfit for prolonged use; I myself experience lag with the messaging app as well as the gallery even after the latest firmware update. What is the support plan for the Sidekick 4G, and will Samsung continue to support it after the last update?

For you to set an individual ringtone for a specific contact that you have on your Samsung Sidekick, please follow the steps below:
1. From the Home screen, tap (Contacts). 2. Touch and hold an entry and select Edit to reveal the Contact entry’s details screen. 3. Enter additional information such as: Email, Google Talk, Instant msg, RINGTONE, POSTAL ADDRESS, ORGANIZATION or MORE fields to input additional category information. • Use your finger to slide the page up or down to see additional fields and categories. 4. Tap Save to complete and store the new entry.

Regarding your concern, upon checking the specifications and settings on the T-Mobile® Sidekick® 4G Android Smartphone (SGH-T839), the phone does not support a direct TV-out capability found on other handsets to playback media or documents.
However, if your television or monitor is DLNA-enabled television and you have a Wi-Fi network or Home-based station at your home for Wi-Fi connection, you can playback media files saved on the SGH-T839 handset on your television using Allshare application.

1. Press the Home Key. 2. Tap on Contacts. 3. Tap on a contact. 4. Tap on the Add Photo icon and select an action. 5. Tap on a photo. 6. If desired, drag the yellow square to frame a subject and tap Save. 7. Tap Save.
Note: The contact must be saved on the phone memory and not synchronized from an email account for you to assign image to that contact.
