my text notification wont work? help me please?

i just got this phone, but i had this model before. my previous one was stolen so i got a replacement. my text notifications wont work. it doesnt make a sound, it doesnt vibrate, and it doesnt show up in the status bar. i have it set to do all of these things but it just wont work.

Question

Why does Kies say my device does not support software upgrade?

I used Kies to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Blaze to ICS and it worked. I'm trying to upgrade a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit but Kies says "Your device does not support software upgrade via Kies." It recognizes the device, but will not upgrade. I also cannot upgrade through the phone itself. Help?

Okay here is the solution that many people here are having. And that is how to transfer files to/from your computer. Here's what to do:
1) BEFORE you connect the USB plug, go to Settings > Wireless and Network > USB Utilities
2) Tap 'connect storage to PC'
3) Plug in USB into computer
4) When done, hit 'disconnect'

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

When i have headphones in the volume will not go over 12 and my phone shows a message that says "Volume louder than this can cause hearing problems" And it turns my volume back down. How do I take this off?
