Hi there!

Are you referring to the automatic spelling feature on messaging option with the use of the Keypad (Portait Mode) of the handset?

You might be referring to the T9 mode of the phone which allows you to enter words with only one keystroke per letter.

Under the messaging screen, there is the box intended for the input mode, please select Abc for you to disable the T9/dictionary mode of the phone.

Greetings!
Regarding your inquiry, the option to move message to folder is only available if you don’t view or open the message. And if the message was viewed, there is no option to move the message to a folder. The reason for that is if you are viewing the text message, there is no message to be moved on a folder that is because you are actually viewing or reading it. You cannot move a message to a folder if you are reading it. The only way to move a message to a folder is if it is closed or you are not viewing it.

Thank you for your inquiry.
Hi, with the Samsung Gravity 3 phone blocking incoming calls is somewhat different with the first Gravity phone. This phone does not have the regular call reject option, however it has the call barring feature that allows you to restrict specific incoming and outgoing calls on your phone. And with the call barring feature it is a SIM card dependent issue and you may need to call your Service Provider to have it activated.
To go to call barring. Please see the steps below:
-got to menu
-go to settings
-go to call settings
-go to call barring
For further details regarding this phone, we advise you to visit our website www.samsung.com to check for other specifications that you may enjoy with this phone.

To copy files from old Samsung phone to the new Samsung phone, all you need to do is to transfer files from SCH-R350 to PC then from PC to SGH-T479.

Configure SCH-R350 to USB setting :

Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot (The phone MUST format the memory card to create the neccessary destination folders). Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card. Formatting a memory card will permanently delete all current content.

From the standby screen, press the OK button for Menu
Select Settings (9)
Select Memory Info (6)
Select Card Memory (3)
Select Format Card (4)
Press the left soft key for Yes to confirm Formatting the Memory Card
Caution!: Do not repeatedly format a Memory Card as this shortens it's service life

Verify the handset PC Connection setting is set to USB Mass Storage
From the standby screen, press Menu
Select Settings (9)
Select Phone Settings (5)
Select PC Connection (10)
Highlight either USB Mass Storage or No Connection
Press the OK button to save the USB Setting

Plug the USB data cable into both the phone and PC
When the New Removable Disk appears on the PC display choose to "open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" or manually open it
Either copy pictures from the phone's My_Images folder or from the PC destination to the clipboard
Paste the pictures into the PC destination or the phone's My_Images folder

Configure SGH-T479 USB setting accordingly before attempting to connect the device to a PC.

Press Menu > Settings > Personalize > Phone Settings > USB Mode

Insert a memory card on the phone
Ensure that the Gravity 3 is in Mass Storage Mode.
Connect the Gravity 3 to a PC using the supported data cable.
The phone will display a "Connected" message. The PC will show a new drive letter in My Computer.
On the PC, open the new drive letter and drag/drop or copy/paste content into this window.

If both phone's connection to PC is unsuccessful, kindly try to check the following....

> Try using a different USB port (if using a desktop PC, please try to connect the USB data cable at the back port of the CPU)
> Restart the PC and soft reset the phone (turn off and remove the battery for about a minute and put it back in the phone and turn it on again)
> Make sure that the USB cable is samsung genuine accessory
> Try using a different USB cable
> Try to check the removable storage through the "My Computer"
> Disable or turn off the bluetooth connection of the phone

Hello Popschair,

You can add memory on your phone by having a storage card or a memory card. It will help a lot for you to have an additional space for incoming text messages and also for some data that you want to put into your phone.

The default passcode for the phone is "0000" or "00000000".

There is no way that we can retrieve the passcode that was set on the phone.

If the default passcode did not work then we can do a reset on the phone.

Should you desire additional assistance resolving this, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Question

Samsung Gravity 3 - does this phone have personalized text message alert settings?

I have a Samsung Gravity 3, and while I've been very satisfied overall with it, there is one thing that bothers me. With other phone I've had, when I received a text message from someone who had a ringtone that I had set for them, that ringtone would play. I haven't been able to figure out if it's possible to do anything like this with my Gravity 3. Is this possible?

Hi!

Are you trying to transfer files between your phone and your computer?

Here are some ways to connect your phone to your computer to transfer pictures:

Mass Storage Mode (Memory Card)

Ensure that the Gravity 3 is in Mass Storage Mode.
Connect the Gravity 3 to a PC using the supported data cable.
The phone will display a "Connected" message. The PC will show a new drive letter in My Computer.
On the PC, open the new drive letter and drag/drop or copy/paste content into this window.

Via Bluetooth

Note: The steps below are to be considered as general guidelines. Bluetooth software and drivers vary greatly among the many Bluetooth-supported devices available today. While Samsung Technical Support can assist with pairing and connecting to other Bluetooth devices, we cannot guarantee that Bluetooth file transfers will be successful. Also, it is required that the other Bluetooth device support the Bluetooth FTP profile.

Ensure that the Gravity 3 Bluetooth feature is turned on and discoverable.
Ensure that the oher Bluetooth device is turned on as well and that both devices are paired and connected.
To initiate a send on the Gravity 3, simply locate the picture or video, press Options > Send Via > Bluetooth > OK

Via New PC Studio (v1.4.1 AD2)

Ensure that the Gravity 3 USB Settings are set accordingly.
Connect the Gravity 3 to a PC using the supported data cable.
If necessary, on the PC launch the Samsung New PC Studio (NPS) application.
After a few seconds, NPS will "see" the SGH-T479 device and display an icon in the upper-right corner.
In NPS, click on the Media Manager icon then click on the SGH-T479 icon
You can now use the drag and drop method for transferring content between the Gravity 3 and your PC.

For further assistance, please call the Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience
through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).

Note: Configure the USB setting accordingly before attempting to connect the device to a PC.

Connect the Gravity 3 to a PC or laptop using a supported USB data cable.

The next window will show the contents of the memory card installed in the Gravity 3. This allows you to transfer audio files from your PC to the Gravity 3, either through cut/copy and paste or drag and drop methods.

If connection is unsuccessful, kindly try to check the following....

> Try using a different USB port (if using a desktop PC, please try to connect the USB data cable at the back port of the CPU)
> Restart the PC and soft reset the phone (turn off and remove the battery for about a minute and put it back in the phone and turn it on again)

Hi Davesings1105!

There's no configurable option to turn off the 3G on the phone. This is a network related feature that only your Service Provider has its settings. You may coordinate with them for other option if there would be other option to disable it.

There are two (2) two different ways to transfer files using the USB cable :

1. Samsung PC Studio Mode allows the device to communicate with the New PC Studio software.

Press Menu > Settings > Personalize > Phone Settings > USB Mode

Note: Configure the USB setting accordingly before attempting to connect the device to a PC.

To download the New PC Studio software compatible to your PC's Operating System (OS), please go this link on Samsung Website :

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportDownloadCenter.do?prd_ia_cd=N0000005&prd_mdl_cd=SGH-T479RNATMB&prd_mdl_name=SGH-T479

2. Mass Storage Mode will allow you to read and write to a memory card via the Windows Explorer interface when one is present. (A memory card should be properly inserted in its slot on the phone)

Connect the Gravity 3 to a PC using the supported data cable.
The phone will display a "Connected" message. The PC will show a new drive letter in My Computer.
On the PC, open the new drive letter and drag/drop or copy/paste content into this window.

If connection is unsuccessful, pls try the following….

> Disable / turn off Bluetooth connectivity of the phone

For the phone to recognize the memory card, please take note of the following :

Card Type: microSDHC
Recommended Card Size: 16GB

Place the microSD card into the slot and push slightly with your finger until you hear a click. Ensure that the memory card contacts face downward and the card is placed so that the indentations on the card face the same direction.
Push the memory card with your finger a second time to eject it from the slot.

Format memory card, however it will erase all data. It is recommended that you backup any data that you want to keep if you need to format the card. Samsung Technical Support is unable to recover lost data.

Press Menu > Settings > Personalize > Memory Settings > Memory Card Settings > Format Memory Card > Yes
