Question

How can I make my phone recognize the files on my MicroSD card that I downloaded from my computer?

I just received this phone. I cleared all my info off of my MicroSD card from my previous phone, inserted the card into new phone, formatted the card, and proceeded to put my .mp3 and .jpg files into the new folders that the phone created on the card. Now the phone is recognizing that the card is inserted, but it doesn't recognize my files (and they are definitely on there). How do I make the phone see and use my files?

My phone turns itself off after 2 hours

Hi, I have a Samsung 401g phone. It turns itself all the way off after 2 hours if I haven't used it. Which means I don't even know if someone is calling me. How can I keep it from powering off? Thanks

There are several troubleshooting steps that you can use regarding the SGH-T401G.

1) A soft reset: power down the device, remove the battery for 1-2 minutes, re-insert and then power up!

2) A new battery, which can be found via a Samsung Accessory Specialist: 1-800-757-0280

4) Try lowering your screen brightness, or try turning off unused applications.

Please try the following steps to pair your phone with a bluetooth device:

While in standby mode, press the left soft key for Menu
Select Settings
Select Bluetooth
Select My Devices
Press the OK button to Search for New Devices
Press the left soft key for Yes at the "Activate Bluetooth" prompt
Highlight the desired Bluetooth device, using the navigation keys, and press the left soft key for Select to Pair the devices
Enter Passkey "0000", using the keypad, then press the left soft key for OK
The handset will display a brief message stating connecting followed by paired
After being successfully connected, the handset will return to the Bluetooth My Devices screen

Tip : If pairing is unsuccessful, please delete all Bluetooth devices that's been paired on the phone previously by going to Menu >> Settings >> Bluetooth >> My Devices >> then select on the Bluetooth device, delete and try to pair it again.

Regarding the SGH-T401, this device doesn't support video streaming.

Question

Why is the reception with my T401G so poor?

My wife has an R451C. With both phones sitting side by side she will have three to four bars and my phone will have no service! Why? This is a consistent problem everywhere I go, but especially at home. (BTW, I used TrafFone for the registration. Actually, it is StraightTalk. However, since they are both the same company I didn't think it would matter.)

Apparently, Samsung does not offer a Data Kit package for transferring information between the SGH-T401G handset and a computer.

For you to connect the t401g Cell Phone (SGH-T401G) to computer via Bluetooth and transfer pictures, please follow the steps below:

Note: Both Bluetooth devices MUST support Bluetooth FTP (File Transfer Profile).

On the Samsung phone:
1. While in standby mode, turn Bluetooth On.
Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Turn Bluetooth On
2. Change the phone’s Bluetooth visibility to On
Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > My Visibility > Highlight On > OK

On the PC:
1. Connect the Bluetooth adaptor to the PC’s USB port.
2. Search for Bluetooth devices.
3. Select the device to pair with the PC.
4. Exchange PIN code(s) on both the PC & phone to pair devices (default pass code is “0000”).
5. Using My Bluetooth Places, select File Transfer to view the phone’s contents.
6. Copy the desired music file.
7. Paste the file in a PC destination.

Note: For information or assistance related to configuration, specifications and instructions of the Non-Samsung device please contact the manufacturer of said device.

The TracFone SGH-T401G handset features two different methods to reset the phone to the factory default settings, the Reset Phone and Restore Phone functions. The Restore Phone option resets all settings to factory defaults and all user data is deleted.

To reset the phone follow the steps below:

1.From the standby screen, press the left soft key for Menu
2.Select Settings (9)
3.Select Reset Settings (7)
4.Select Reset Phone (1)
5.Press the left soft key for OK
6.Enter the Password then press the left soft key for OK
7.If prompted, enter the Password then press the left soft key for OK to confirm

To restore the phone follow the steps below:

1.From the standby screen, press the left soft key for Menu
2.Select Settings (9)
3.Select Reset Settings (7)
4.Select Restore Phone (2)
5.Press the left soft key for OK

Once you open a message from your inbox, press the volume up key to enlarge the text.

Below are the steps to block a number:
1. From standby, press the Menu/OK key
2. Select Settings
3. Select More...
4. Select Restrict and Lock
5. Select Voice
6. Enter lock code
7. Select Restrict
8. Highlight Incoming Call
9. Select one of the following:
-Allow all
-Contacts Only
-Special# Only
