New Samsung SGH T259 Powers off intermittently.

Battery is FULL. Purchased 1 day ago T-Mobile account- Unit powers OFF unexpectedly at various intervals; sometimes a few hours, sometimes a few minutes. Not standby, not sleep mode, not silent - OFF.

Is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer / Samsung) equipment being used?

For troubleshooting purposes, it is important to use all genuine Samsung OEM accessories.

Is there any noticeable physical damage to the device?

Physical damage can include (but not limited to) missing, bent, or broken battery contacts. Remove the battery and inspect all contacts on the device and battery to ensure they are intact and free of damage or debris. Inspect all accessories to ensure there is no physical damage and they are in good working order.

Is there any liquid damage to the device?

Check the LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) located inside the battery well and on the battery itself. LDI indicators should be solid white or white with visible pink/purple X's ( Click here for an example).

If the LDI is solid pink/purple/red, it indicates the device has been exposed to moisture and is not covered under Samsung's limited warranty.

Does the battery have a full charge?

To ensure the battery is not the root cause of failure, it is recommended to charge the battery to it's full capacity.

Has the device been exposed to extreme weather conditions?

Samsung devices come equipped with a safety feature that will automatically power down the device once it reaches a critical level.

Please check the information listed below for the charging time for your phone.

Initial charging time: 6-8 hours
Regular Charging time: 2-4 hours

You may also drop by at your service provider's corporate store to try using a different battery or charger to check if it would work.

Question

Front display

OK I have the sgh t259, flip phone. how can i set the phone so that if I press the volume key the clock displays and should the front light stay on to advise me that there is a missed call or message. At this time the only way to see the time on the front display is to open and close the phone. Shouldn't there be a better way, appreciate the help

Question

Does having internet on this phone cause it to turn itself off randomly?

I have had two new t259 phones in the last two months and now am on the third phone. With each I have the following problems: phone turns itself off at least two times each day, missed calls (goes directly to voicemail and does not show missed call), inability to make a call (phone re-boots with date and time update and intializing contacts, and I have to try two or three times before successfully making a call).

You may try performing a soft reset on the phone as a basic troubleshooting step to fix it, by taking out the battery for at least 15-30 seconds, then put the battery back in again and turn it back on to refresh the software.

Question

Can t9 text messaging be turned off?

When I go to send a text my t259 phone automatically reverts to t9 and I have to change it back to ABC. I do not like t9. Is there a way to keep it from reverting back to t9 each time or to even remove t9 from my phone?

There is configurable option on the phone that will save the ABC mode on the messaging of the phone. Once you create a new message by default the T9 mode is selected.

Reception problems can be linked to a number of factors. It may be a building that tends to block the signal due to the nature of its structure. It may also be that the strength of the signal may be particularly weak in that specific area. Geographic conditions, internal software and tower placement play a significant role in how well the phone grabs and maintains a signal.

If you feel there are more than just the above factors at work then please perform a Factory reset on the phone.

cell phones for visually impaired

My wife is visually impaired. and she needs a phone that can be used appropriately. I know that Samsung makes the Haven for Verizon. We are currently with Tmiobile and have found that the T259 works well after I make a change or two. Does this phone work similarly to the Haven or is there a way I can obtain the software to make it do so?

We don't have any Samsung PC Studio that support your Samsung SGH-T259. There is no configurable option on the phone that will allow you to sync your phone with outlook. We apologize for any inconvenience this may present.

You can choose and customize sound settings or turn off vibrate mode on your phone while it rings, as part of sound profile using the steps below.

From Home screen, press Menu (LSK) ➔ Settings ➔ Personalize ➔ Sound profiles.

To customize the sound profile settings, highlight the sound profile (Normal) and press the press Options (LSK) ➔ Edit. Press the Navigation key left or right to select a new tab.
• Incoming call: highlight a setting and press OK Edit to make a selection.
– Call alert type: select an alert type for incoming calls, from Melody, Increasing melody, Vibration then melody, Vibration and melody, or Vibration and increasing melody.
