Samsung isn't going to do that for us. They want us to buy another phone, and then another, and then another! There are a lot of us that want this update and we all will have to decide where we go from here.Do you want to trust Sansung again with your next phone?
I have unlocked this att phone. Will i be able to update the android seperately in android or samsung markets?

It is available to people that have phones that never took the OTA updates. For example, people that just got the Infuse or hackers that restored their phones to original firmware. We honest people that took the authorized OTA updates are left in the cold with the "unregistered device" until Samsung fixes the problem. You notice it says SAMSUNG Kies Mini. It is NOT called AT&T Kies Mini. It is Samsung software, not AT&T software.
I spoke with AT&T tech support this evening around 6:30 and was told that the Gingerbread update came out today, 2/1/2012. I hope they have instructions for the Infuse upgrade/install somewhere soon. The agent told me it should be the same as the Samsung Captivate so I guess we can check there. Good luck with your upgrade and don't forget to back up your info and apps.

Well now even people who don't have the OTA update are left out in the cold as I'am getting the "Unregistered Device" now. Oh well guess we will have to wait for another 6 months or so and by that time I'm sure they will be on Android 4.3 for some devices. But hey I guess we can say that we are original because we will still be rock'in Froyo while some people won't even know what that is by that time. But they must be fixing it because on their support page when you select the Infuse 4G and then it brings up the phone where you can select "downloads" for the device, it loops and takes you right back to the support "search" portion of the website.

You are probably seeing ATT Radio listed on the ATT Features for the Samsung Infuse 4G. ATT Radio refers to an application that lets you stream radio content from the internet servers. I can see where this could be misleading to a few people.
Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we do not have any information as to when or if the Infuse will be getting Gingerbread but please check back for updates or visit www.samsung.com for news.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this presents and thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.

I would uninstall Kies Mini and then go to www.Samsung.com and redownload the latest version, install it and connect your phone via the USB cable that came with your device, when asked to do so. Once you are connected, Kies Mini will show you the upgrade screen, click on upgrade. Make sure you have a full battery before attempting to update. The phone will take a few minutes to upgrade itself, then it will reboot and proceed to install the upgrade. Do Not Touch Anything while this process is going on. Once the upgrade has completed, shut the phone off and turn it back on a couple times, to let the upgrade settle in, just my opinion
The latest version is as follows ;
Firmware version 2.3.6. Baseband version I997UCLB3 Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I997UCLB3-CL977492 Build number GINGERBREAD.UCLB3

Not sure if this will help but I had a similar issue like this and it was related to DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol - this hands out you an IP to your device). I don't use DHCP from my wireless router as I have a local server configured. Anyway what I found was that my Infuse would send a hostname with an underscore ( _ ) in the name which prevents some DHCP servers from handing out an address (at least in my case). I ended up adding the WiFI MAC address to a white list with a static IP to resolve it.
I'm guessing that probably isn't an option for you but what you could try is configuring your phone with a static IP which matches the range your network uses. You can do this from the WiFi setting screen and pressing the menu button, then advanced. For reference look at anther device (i.e. your laptop or desktop to get the value network values).
For security reasons I'd switch to WPA2 with AES. I'm not sure if that will fix the problem, but it is makes you a harder wireless hacking target. The channel doesn't matter and may change (depending on the router settings) automatically to the least saturated channel.
See if the router supports WPS and use that to connect. Check for a WPS button on the side. It sends all info to the phone and sets up the connects automatically with the proper settings.

It's been a while since I did this but I had problems when I first got my phone too. I have Verizon Fios TV and Internet at home. I had to go into my router application and make a change to the security setting (WEP to WPA or WPA to WEP, something like that). I had actually googled the problem and found the answer on another forum somewhere.

Check the Users manual page 5 - 8 for removal of the back and access to the battery, sim card and memory card. I checked the users manual and I didn't see a direct reference to the label with the S/N but it must be in there.

You don't have to remove the battery. The serial number is available to you through the Settings. Tap the following sequence: Settings/About phone/Status. Look under the heading IMEI. That's your serial number -- it's a 15 number sequence that probably starts with "35".

To get the battery out you just just need to pop the back cover off, there's a small slot you can insert a fingernail that's located beneath the volume rockers. With the back off you just need to pull the battery, it's not secured by anything. Beneath the battery on the phone itself you'll find the SN. As already pointed out you can also get the applicable number from the settings.

Yes, it does work. Make sure you have the latest version of Skype (v2.5), and after starting a Skype video call (or receiving one), press the button on the lower right side of the screen that looks like a video camera. This will bring up a selection of Front Facing camera, Rear camera, or No camera. If you do not see the initial button, tap anywhere on your screen to bring up the menu. Hope this helps. I use this function very often, and was happy to see that we didn't have to wait for the Gingerbread update to be able to take advantage of our front-facing camera.

Because AT&T hasn't okayed it's release. They pelt people with gingerbread when dates are announced. It's obviously not Samsung's fault, since the Canadian Rogers phones have it.

How can I get the display to stay on when making a phone call?
I don't make many phone calls but when I do, almost as soon as I make a call, the display disappears (black screen) and I have to repeatedly push the button to bring the display back. This is very annoying especially when there are voice prompts for numbers and each time I have to redisplay the number pad. I have the screen timeout set to 10 minutes but it does not seem to apply to when a phone call is made. So how can I change the screen timeout for phone calls?

There is a proximity sensor on the phone near the speaker/front-facing camera. If the phone is in a call and it is held near your ear, the screen darkens. I suppose it is supposed to lighten up when it is taken away from your ear but mine would not come back until the other party ended the call on their end. The AT&T guy said the case (an otter-like case) surrounding that sensor was probably blocking light getting into it when I took the phone away from my head. I cut out part of the covering over the sensor (near the front-facing camera) and it seems to work properly about 90% of the time.
I have a Samsung Infuse and am waiting for gingerbread to be available (issued). I thought is was supposed to be issued last month. Where is it? Also, where is the promised Skype application so I can do video chat with my many friends and family already on Skype?

Make sure that you have all of the individual volumes set to an acceptable level. You can do this by pressing the menu button, then settings. Select "Sound", then "Volume". Make sure that you don't have "Media" turned all the way down. That will probably fix your problem.

Using the "My Files" app, create a folder called "Ringtones" in the "Media/Audio" folder. When you download the ringtones, move them from the "Downloads" folder to the "Media/Audio/Ringtones" folder using the "Move" command. With the ringtone file showing on the screen, tap "Menu," then "More," then "Move." Select the file you want to move and the folder you want to move it to, then tap "Move." The new ringtone should automatically appear in your Settings-Sounds-Ringtones list.

You can add clips/sounds to your media folder, then under settings, sounds, phone ringtone, you can select the newly added tones there. Or if you'd like to set a particular ringtone to a particular person, go to that person's contact information (under Contacts), click Edit, and scroll down to Set Ringtone.
