Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Tab can read an open PDF, DOCX, and XLS files. You may use a third party application for this. There're lots of applications from the Market (Android Market) that you may download on your device. However, please keep in mind that we don’t support any third party application for any of our devices. For this reason, we do not have information compiled on possible resources.

If you check the memory status and there is enough space in your phone/ memory card, there is a possible corrupted files in your phone or in the memory card.

You need to do a factory data reset on the phone to fix the issue.

NOTE: restoring the phone back to it's factory settings will delete all the information saved on the phone.

Here's how to restore your phone back to factory settings:

1. From the home screen, tap on Applications.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap on Privacy.
4. Tap on Factory Data Reset.
5. To continue,tap on Reset Phone.

Do you offer Same Unit Repair

My galaxy tab failed and I have to send it in for repair, can I expect that after repair I have the data saved on my tablet (family pictures) be accessible again. Or will my Galaxy tab be set back to factory defaults and all data will be wiped?

Cannot obtain IP Address

Hi, when trying to connect to my home wireless network, my Sansumg Galaxy display cannot obtain an IP address (the wireless network is working since I can connect other devices), however I am being able to establish WIFI Connections in other free spots.

Apparently, we do not have any available software nor drivers that you would be needing for you to connect the tablet to the computer.

If you are going to sync music files from your Samsung Galaxy Tab (SGH-I987) to the Windows Media Player, ensure that Windows Media Player is installed on your PC. For you to connect the tablet to the computer, it would require you to have the memory card inside the tablet with music file in it and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

Windows Media Player Settings:

1. From the Home screen, press on Menu key or select Applications tab.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Applications.
4. Select USB Settings.
5. Check the box besides Media Player.
6. Press the Home Key to return to the home screen.

Tip: Make sure that the Bluetooth is deactivated on the tablet.

Connecting to the computer:
1. Ensure that a microSD memory card with content is loaded into the device's memory card slot.
2. Connect one end of the supported data cable into the device's USB port and the other end into an available USB port on the computer.
3. "USB Connected" will show briefly in the Notification Bar followed by a USB icon. A pop-up window displays on the PC when connected.
4. Open Windows Media Player to synchronize music files.
5. Edit or enter your device’s name in the pop-up window.
6. Select and drag the music files you want to the sync list and begin synchronizing.

If the notification does not show up on the tablet or on the computer, try to turn off you tablet or connect the USB cable to another USB port on your computer.

1) USB Connector assistance, 2) Download pics via camera, 3) power charge setting when overseas

1) Purchased USB Connector, can't "see" any files that I am trying to connect to, i.e., Flash drive. How do I do this? 2) Can I download pics from my camera (via cord to USB Connector), if so, how, 3) Getting ready to travel to Spain. Have a power converter / adapter. Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

Greetings!

Samsung and AT&T have released a software update for the SGH-i897 (Captivate) which is recommended to be installed. This update includes software improvements and additions. The update will be rolled out via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) and a software package will be released in the near future called mini-KIES that will allow customers to update their device using a PC.
The Captivate originally launched with software version JF6, the maintenance release will update the software on the device to JH7.

Below is a condensed list of some of the enhancements found in version JH7:
 Media Scan: Routines have been changed to allow for faster scanning of media
 Exchange 2003 Policy Support: Increased support of corporate email using Exchange
 Mac Support: USB debugging mode is no longer required to be enabled to connect to a Mac as a mass storage device. It now follows the same process as a PC
 Samsung Kies: The Samsung Kies option found in USB settings has been changed to Kies (Firmware upgrade) for better clarification
 PC Internet: The PC Internet option found in USB settings has been removed and the default selection has been set to Ask on Connection
 QuickOffice: The QuickOffice application has now been added as a preloaded app
 GMS: The Google Mobile Services has been updated to the latest version
 TTS Library: The standard Text To Speech library data has now be implemented
 GPS: Improved GPS performance TTFT and accuracy
 Multimedia Message Download: MMS received while operating in 2G has been changed to allow for automatic download

The JH7 maintenance release update will be pushed out via FOTA over the next few weeks. The update will be released in batches so that the network will not be over-loaded.
Customers can manually check for an update by choosing the following:
Menu > Settings > Software Update > Check for Update
Follow the on screen prompts to continue the software update.

Hi, for you to delete an email account on your Samsung focus phone, just go to settings, email &accounts tap and hold on the email account that you like to delete and an option will pop up asking you to sync or delete, just tap delete.

To download ringtones and other media files through Mass Storage :

> Ensure that the Memory Card is properly inserted into the device
> Ensure that the USB mode is set on Mass Storage:
> Select Menu
> Settings
> Select Applications
> Select USB settings
> Select Mass storage even if already selected
> Press Home key to return to the home screen

> Make sure that USB debugging is uncheck:

> Select Menu
> Applications
> Select Settings
> Development
> Uncheck alll three options ( USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake)

> Connect the USB data cable to the device and a laptop or PC
> After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer, pull it down
> Select USB Connected
> Select Mount
> On the PC, navigate to the Removable Disk assigned to the device. This can be done through the automatic pop up screen or ‘My Computer.’
> Drag and drop (copy and paste) files from other locations of your PC to this folder

If connection is unsuccessful, kindly try to check the following....

> Try using a different USB port (if using a desktop PC, please try to connect the USB data cable at the back port of the CPU)
> Restart the PC and soft reset the phone (turn off and remove the battery for about a minute and put it back in the phone and turn it on again)
> Make sure that the USB cable is samsung genuine accessory
> Try using a different USB cable
> Try to check the removable storage through the "My Computer"
> Turn off / disable bluetooth connection of the phone
