Thank you for taking the time to inform us of the issue concerning your Samsung product.

Regarding about your concern, what we can suggest is to transfer an excel files first on the SGH-I987 tablet. Before opening the excel files, activate the QuickOffice application. Once it is enabled, when you open the excel files, it will give you an option to edit the excel file. It will also give you an option to add a new sheet and to add columns and rows just like the normal excel application on your computer.

Are you referring connecting the Samsung Captivate™ Android Smartphone (SGH-I897) to your Wi-Fi router at your home? Regarding about this issue, the phone certainly have this capability.

For you to connect the SGH-I897 to Wi-Fi connection, please follow the steps below:
1. From the Home screen, press on Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Wireless and networks.
4. Touch Wi-Fi to check the box beside it.
5. The phone will scan for available Wi-Fi connection nearby.
6. Once connected, there will be a moving wave icon beside the signal icon at the top of the screen.

Regarding about the signal strength on the SGH-I897 handset for voice call, try to have a soft reset on the phone. Soft reset is removing the battery for about a minute on your phone and putting it back just for you to refresh the settings on the handset.

Should this troubleshooting step did not work, we recommend contacting your service provider to disable this feature on the phone.

Hi there!

Regarding about your concern, the Galaxy Tab SGH-I987 does not support speech-to-text feature. However, it has the Text to-speech feature when installed allows audible readout of onscreen data such as message or inbound caller information. This feature can work inconjunction with Bluetooth headsets. To learn about how to configure settings, look at the section below.

We recommend contacting your Service Provider to activate this feature.

Configuring Text To Speech
1. Press the Home Key.
2. Press the Menu Key.
3. Tap on Settings
4. Tap on Voice Input And Output
5. Touch Text-To-Speech Settings
6. Tap on one of the options to enable or disable the function or configure speech rate and language:
• Listen to an example: plays a short example of what the text-to speech feature sounds like on your device when activated.
• Install voice data: confirms the installation of necessary data required for voice synthesis.
• Always use my settings: accepts an override of application settings with personal configurations for this text-to-speech settings screen. If enabled, your device defaults to using the text-to-speech feature.
• Speech rate: adjusts the rate at which onscreen text is spoken by the device. Choose from: Very slow, Slow, Normal, Fast, and Very fast.
• Language: assigns the language used for verbal readout. Choose from American English or Spanish.

Its true that i have to have a data plan from Tmobile to download apps from android marketplace?

Hi, i want to buy a Galaxy tab with a T-mobile "unlocked" tab, without contracts only for use with t-mobiles services, but i have seen several commentaries that say that the tab need to have a data plan or at least a prepaid one to download apps from android marketplace is this true? or i can download them with my wi-fi spot?

Hi there,

You can still download application using your Wi-Fi spot; it will only need a Google account or Gmail account to activate the Android Market application for you to be able to download applications. However, we recommend to have a data plan for the device with service provider because some of the application that can be download on the Android Market is a Network dependent from your service provider.

Thank you for your inquiry. The battery is built-in on your Galaxy S and there's no option for you to remove the back cover and install a new battery on your tab.

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding on how to customize the front screen of the phone that says "This phone belongs to...", it only happens once you download an antivirus on the handset itself.

To customize the "This Belongs To" message, follow the steps below:

Launch the anti-virus
From the "Touch screen to protect device screen" tap menu, tap settings, tap remote management, Check Enable lost message, tap lost message, tap Text Before and Enter the information and then tap ok.

Note: You needs to download an anti-virus first and for the message "This Belongs To" to appear, you need to set up a pattern lock.

Samsung kies is only exclusive for software update and does not support mac computer however if you wish to transfer media files from your tab using your mac computer please follow these steps:

Connect the phone to the PC through the USB cable one the box with the phone
Make sure USB mode is on mass storage How to change USB mode:
From home screen, tap setting
Select wireless and network
USB settings
tap on mass storage
When USB Connected screen appears tab mount
on the computer select open folder to view files select DCIM folder
select camera
then copy paste the pictures to the PC

There is no voice recognition settings on the Tab. If you are referring to the voice search functionality of the Tab, on google search, here are the steps.
The Voice Search feature is a voice-activated application that allows you to tell the tablet what to search for and then the tablet
activates a Google search based on what you said.
1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Voice Search .
– or –
From the main Home screen, tap on the right side of
the Google Search bar (microphone icon)
2. The Speak now screen will display. Speak clearly into the
microphone.
3. The Working screen will display as it searches for you.
4. Results will display on the screen. Tap a link to view the
information.

The No matches found screen will display if Voice Search
was not able to find a match. Tap Try again or Cancel.
