I have the same issue. It is driving me crazy. I am not plugged into power when I am listening to music in my truck via the aux port. I have tried it connected with a "stereo" plug and the plug with three "rings" that says it is designed for the Focus S. My Focus didn't do this when connected the same way to my truck aux port. Has anyone had any luck finding a work around? Hopefully Samsung monitors these forums and will respond. :)

Nope. I tried everything. It is a firmware issue i believe and unless samsung looks this seriously, this product is defective.

I have the same issue whenever I plug any standard headphone cable in. If I use the headphones with a microphone therefore 4 rings on the plug it is fine but anything standard doesn't work. I have tried my Bose noise cancelling headphones and the line in auxillary jack in my truck, each time without power plugged in and it pops with every button press or song change. Looking around other line forums it appears we are not alone.

Are you plugged into power? If you are try it without power connected. If the "large speaker," is powered try putting a power filter between it and the wall. I have this same issue with multiple devices when using the Aux jack in my car and not using the power cord seems to alleviate it.

One is available do a quick bing search for "Samsung Focus i917 LCD and Touch Screen Digitizer Replacement" and you will find it. It is a bit of a job so if you have a warranty or carrier protection plan I would recommend that first. But there are some great step by step videos out there.

Question

Why does the Speech Recognition function activate when I plug in a set of headphones into the 3.5mm stereo jack? Can this be disabled?

When connecting headphones (wired) to the Samsung Focus S the Windows Speech Recognition function will suddenly activate and wait for the user to launch an app, call a contact, etc. Sometimes this prompt will display multiple times, each time erroring out saying the command was not recognized. This prompt is innapropriate if merely attaching headphones to listen to apps such as Zune.

The easy way is to press the power button, which will bring up the controls. Then press 'pause'.

I find this to be easy -- and it has the advantage that I can resume it at any point.

To my knowledge, the only way to make the controls completely disappear is reboot the device.

Hi there!
Thank you for reaching out to us for support.
Are you referring to the PIN code of the SIM card inserted on the phone?
Please call your service provider regarding the issue of resetting the PIN code for your SIM card.
If this is in regards to the passcode to access the device, the default phone lock code of your phone is "0000" or "00000000". If the default phone lock code did not work then we can do a reset on the phone. If a factory reset is necessary, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.
