Thank you for your inquiry. The compatible microSD cards will be branded as “Windows Phone 7 Compatible” on the packaging. Approved cards can be obtained from the manufacturer or carrier. (The SanDisk 8GB class 2 microSD card has been certified.)
Many commercially available retail microSD cards are not approved for use in Windows Phone 7. Use of unapproved cards may cause performance degradation or device instability, including unexpected reset and loss of user data. A microSD card class is not an indication of meeting Windows Phone 7 requirements.

There doesn't seem to be an option to disable the 3G data connection with the Settings/Cellular menu. Is there a way to enable this option? Other Windows Phone 7 handsets have this enabled by default. My home is on the edge of the 3G coverage network, and the phone seems to go to 0-bars 3G coverage rather than automatically switching to Edge.

There are no options to disable the 3G data connection on your SGH-i917 (Focus) handset. This kind of data connection is a network related feature that can be configured by your Service Provider as well as they can further explain to you why you’re not showing Edge connection instead.
My Samsung Focus from AT&T does have an option for turning off the data connection. It is shown under Settings and Cellular. There you can set the data connection to off. Note that WiFi still works but if you try to purchase an App from the Zune Market[place you will not able to have it added to your bill so you will need to use a credit card.

Question
why does my screen go black during a call?
When I make a call or directly after I receive a call my screen goes black taking away any option of using the numbers needed during a call or using the end call option. Do I have a setting incorrect or is my phone faulty?

Hi TFurnivall!
Thank you for your inquiry. That's the power saving mode of the phone that is default on your Samsung Focus (SGH-T959). This is to prolong the battery life of your phone. You need to press the power button to lighten up again the screen of your handset and for you to have alll the options while in incoming calls or for you to go to the menu of your handset.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this presents.

While your handset does support the Bluetooth profile for hands free operation, this would best be addressed by your vehicle manufacturer, as they can provide a list handsets approved for compatibility. In most cases, this information is available on the manufacturer’s website.
Please bear in mind that Samsung does not support the use of any third party hardware with our handsets. We apologize for any inconvenience this presents.
Yes, though how you do it will depend on your car and what other equipment you choose to buy.
An FM transmitter is one way, other car radios now feature bluetooth connections, and still others (like mine) have an aux in port. You'd have to check with your car manufacture.
I am purchasing this phone and want to access my future security system by phone. Many systems state I can do this using windows mobile? Is windows mobile (or equivalant) in the focus/windows phone software?

The Samsung Focus (SGH-I917) is running Windows 7 OS from microsoft. By default, the phone does not have a preloaded application that may access your security system. However there is a related application can be found from Windows marketplace for you to access your security system.
Well windows "mobile" officially branched off at WP7. MS still puts windows mobile 6.5 on some phones but those are for "developing markets" other than the US.
Old windows mobile apps are no longer compatable with WP7. I'd guess you'd have to wait for what ever security system it is/is going to be to release a WP7 app.
For my new Focus, is there currently an accessory to play music from the phone to the 3.5mm mini headphone jack in my car?
Standard mini jacks do not work as Samsung apparently does not allow third party hardware to connect to the built-in headphone jack. I am curious about the micro USB connection and some kind of adaptor that would allow this. Thanks.

Although Windows Phone does not support copying contacts from the phone to the SIM card, you may synchronize your phone contacts, should you have an email or social network accounts set up on the phone. Kindly check the link below for further details.

For now you don't really.
There is a third party solution availible but I'm sure it would be against Samsung's TOS to talk about it much. A little googling should reveal it though.
MS is supposed to have a major upgrade in Jan that will feature that and many other things.

Multitasking is not supported on any windows phones. The only program available for the user to run in the background is the Zune music player. All other software will automatically stop all current processes when exited.

You don't have to worry about it. There is no backgrounding in WP7.
The closest there is is that it can run under the lockscreen but you'd know its running when you unlock it.

The picture on the picture tile is derived from the phone's camera roll. It uses the last picture taken.
Whether there is a way to affix a picture permanently to the tile, I have not found one yet, and with the device in a locked state, I do not believe you will be able to...yet.
