Hi dboyd44!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Are you referring setting MP3 file as a ringtone on the Samsung Focus (SGH-I917)?

Regarding about your concern, Windows Phone OS does not support using Mp3 files as ringtones.

As of the moment, Samsung is unable to speculate when/if the software revision with this feature might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.

Should this become available, it will be posted on our website in the Samsung Download Center or you will be informed by your Service Provider.

You may search on the Market and look for compatible ringtones that you may download on the SGH-I917. However, we do not support the use of 3rd party applications and services with any of our devices. For this reason, we do not have information compiled on possible resources.

Again, we thank you for comments and appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

We appreciate your continued interest in Samsung products.

Hi RichLinn!

Thank you for your inquiry. Samsung Focus allows only certified microSD cards. The official list of “Certified for Windows 7” microSD cards will be available soon. Compatible microSD cards will be branded as “Windows Phone 7 Compatible” on the packaging. Approved cards can be obtained from the manufacturer or carrier. Currently the SanDisk 8GB class 2 and class 4 microSD cards has been certified.

Note: Microsoft Phone 7 does not support freely swapping microSD Cards in and out. Improper use (including inserting or removing) of microSD cards on Windows Phone 7 devices may result in one or more of the following:

System error while powering on the device that prevents
the Windows Phone 7 operating system from loading.
Inaccurate reporting of available storage.
Loss of access to or removal of installed applications.
Loss of access to or removal of user data/media stored on the microSD card.
Loss of access to or removal of user data or media stored internally within the Windows Phone 7 device.
Overall file system performance degradation.
Device lookup or reset.

If this symptoms occurs on the phone, you may call the Samsung Customer Support Center, as they can help you troubleshoot this issue in a more timely manner than we could through this forum.

At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

There are several MicroSD cards on the market. Make sure that you buy a class 4 card. Class 4 MicroSD have faster data transfer rates. Meaning that if you store a movie on it you wont have and lag when playing it back. They are more expensive so choose the GB that fits your needs the first time.

Hi Sheila71458,

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your concern, speech recognition is one of the hidden gems on Windows Phone. Many of the things you do day-to-day on your phone can be accomplished using only your voice.

1. To open Speech, press and hold the Start button on your phone.
When you open Speech, your phone starts listening for a voice command.

Here are some of the things you can do with your voice:
1. Call someone from your contact list.
* "Call _______ (contact name)."
2. Call any phone number.
* Call __________ (phone number)."

Here are some examples of phrases you might use:
1. "Call Sean Bentley"
* If Sen Bentley has only one phoe number in your contact card, the call will start. If he has multiple phone nubmers, you'll see an option to choose once.
2. "Call Sean Bentley mobile."
* This will call Sean Bentley's mobile phone number.

2. When you're done talking, tap Go, or just wait a couple seconds.
Tips: If you want to cancel, press the Back button on your phone.

These settings determine if audio plays as a confirmation, if you can use speech when the phone is locked, and enables speech recognition over the network.
1. From the Home screen, tap Menu key > Settings > system > speech.
2. Tap one of the following to configure settings:
• Play audio confirmations.
• Use Speech when the phone is locked.
• Enable speech recognition over the network.

Note: This setting is required for web search using voice. When selected, all voice commands are sent to Microsoft to provide and improve the service.

You may use the link provided below to check listed steps on how to use voice dial on your phone.

http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=558&AT_ID=344167

For blocking incoming text messages and call, there are no configurable options in your handset to block or put in a reject list contacts. However, you may contact your Service Provider for available options to block a number.

We thank you for your patronage of Samsung products. Have a good day.

First you need to setup a live mail or hotmail account. Then download the Outlook connector progam. Once you install the program, run your outlook and it will ask you enter your live mail or hotmail account and password. From there another folder account will be created on your oulook. You can then copy your contacts and calendar to your live mail accounts. The nice thing about this, when you update you calendars or contacts on your phone, your live mail our hotmail account will get updated as well. You can even copy your files from your documents to your live mail for easy access anywhere your access online.
