Question

Will multiple recharges condition my battery to endure?

I purchased the phone from AT&T only a few days ago. It drains power much too quickly, yet all the standard power-saving options are set and I'm definitely not running any apps or widgets. I don't even enable the Mobile Network yet. Instead of the 12.5 days on standby that Samsung specs suggest is feasible, I get less than 1.5 days... not even sufficient for a weekend camping trip. Did I get a defective unit? I've heard that draining the battery fully then recharging it, repeated 3 or 4 times, could help? My reception here is around 10 asu. The phone says battery usage is: Cell standby 56%, Phone idle 21%, Android OS 12% and WiFi 10% (with phone locked for a 12-hour experiment). Your suggestions?

There is no clear answer unless the battery is tested thoroughly.
It appears your battery has a problem because I've been playing with my Galaxy Appeal for 3 days (opening all applications) and my battery is still 1/2 full.
About fully discharging and fully charging (at least 3 to 5 times) is true.
But this theory applies more so to batteries which contain a memory,
such as Ni-CD batteries, while Ni-MH can be charged at any time (even when 90% full for instance) because it doesn't affect the memory. I presume the battery in the Samsung are Lithium batteries, hence those memories are also not affected. When any batteries has only 1 bad cell, regardless of type, the rest of the cells with suffer, and you can charge and discharge all year long and it won't bring the battery back to paar. I would exchange the battery as soon as possible because I don't think they are covered under the 1 year warranty period, although I may be mistaken.

Question

still can't download manuel

I click on the link as you suggested and it didn't do anything. when I hit refresh it looked like it was going to work... than I got a screen for adobe reader (which I have) that had nothing in it. I hit the ok button and it did the same as before...stopped responding.

Connecting to "N" network

Does the phone connect to N? If so how because it is not seeing my network. I know it is up and working because my TV is connected to it.

when I first tried to connect it, it didn't work because I needed a microSDmemory card. After I got one it worked. I had the salesperson install the card.

You hook up the phone to your computer, a usb icon will appear in the status bar. than ...slide the notification panel open by touching and sweeping your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom. Touch USB Connected. You'll see another screen ...and you will need to touch connect. when you're done you will need to touch the disconnect button on your phone before you unhook it. I hope this helps

Question

Kies works and then it won't!!!

I downloaded Kies (not kies air) and it worked just fine. Than I got back on my computer and it wouldnt connect to my cell. I tried again later and it worked! than it wouldn't no matter what I did. It said device wasn't supported. I did the troubleshooting for connection problems--nothing. So I uninstalled kies and reinstalled it. Than it worked! I thought everything was fine until the next day when it would not work yet again!!!

Why am I not able to send pictures via text when I take them on my phone?

I get a message that states the file is to big to send and I am only taking pictures on the phone. Is there a setting that needs to be changed in order to send pictures?

Hello Inletson,

Multimedia message (MMS) size limits are determined by carrier. For example, if you send a larger message from your device, such as 1,000 KB, to another device with another carrier that has a limitation of 600 KB, your message may not appear as normal. Some limitations you may notice are:

The ability to hear audio, but not see video
The ability to see a picture, but not see or hear a video
Receiving a message saying the file is too large
Receiving a shortened video
Not being able to receive the message

For most Samsung phones, you can set recording mode to limit for MMS. This will allow you to capture video within the size limitations for multi media messages for your carrier. You can access this option while using the video camera. Touch settings > recording mode.

AT&T sets a limit of 600 KB for sending MMS on their network.

Question

Problem while charging

Charged my cell today, cell was still turned on. Looked at it some time later & screen had a notice "Battery Disconnected". Did not see the charging indicator at the bottom left of the phone either. Unplugged it, re-plugged again & same thing happened some time later. Turned the cell off & then it seemed to charge up fine. Has never done this before. What's happening?

Question

How do you keep the notification setting volume on high? Each time I set it, it resets to low.

Changes to the notification volume DO NOT stay fixed where you want them. The revert back to low after you make changes and press OK.

Question

Why is my phone always Currently unable to download?

Everytime someone tries to send me a picture my phone says "currently unavailable to download, try again later" People also don't receive the pics I take. I've tried downloading when I have full service and am currently attached via usb to my desktop and still wont download anything
