Hi favoriteaverett,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand your concern that your text messages are showing up in your emails after you setup your exchange email account on your Samsung phone. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

There is no configurable option on the phone athat will let your text messages shows up on your email account.

Please try to do a soft reset. Turn of the phone, remove and put the battery back after 1-2 minutes.

If the soft reset won't work, we recommend you to delete and re-add your exchange email account on the phone to isolate this.

Question

Is there a known issue with the Galaxy S 2 wireless hotspot

The wireless hotspot on my Galaxy S 2 will activate and appear to be connected but it will stop transfering data between the phone and any connected wireless device.. If I turn the hotspot off and back on it will start transfering again for a short time then just stop suddenly with no explanaition. It appears as if it still connected to the network when this happens. The problem is not with the carrier network (at&t) it is a device issue in itself. A google search shows that there appears to be a problem with the at&t version of this phone and many other forums have questions on this issue but there does not appear to be a solid resolution. I do not want to root or flash the software on this phone to the european version which seems to be the resolution I am finding in many forums.

Hi bleach274,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that wireless hotspot on your phone, SGH-I777 is not working properly and we do apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused you.

We are aware that there are official-looking websites online that have statements regarding your concern, but, these are not Samsung sites, and this information is not accurate.

You may try performing a soft reset on the phone as a basic troubleshooting step to fix it, by taking out the battery for at least 15-30 seconds, then put the battery back in again and turn it back on to refresh the software.

Tethering & portable hotspot, this option allows you to share your phones’s mobile data connection via USB or as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

You may use Tethering on your phone by following the steps provided below:

1. From the Home screen, tap Applications ➔ Settings ➔ Wireless and network ➔ Tethering and portable hotspots.
2. Connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable.
3. Tap USB tethering to add a checkmark and activate the
feature. The USB tethering icon is displayed at the top of your screen.

You may use Portable Wi-Fi hotspot by following the steps provided below:

1. From the Home screen, tap Applications ➔ Settings ➔ Wireless and network ➔ Tethering and portable hotspots.
2. Tap Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings.
3. Read the introduction and tap OK.
4. Tap Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to add a checkmark and activate the feature. If you have Wi-Fi connected, you will first be prompted to disconnect. Tap Yes. The Portable Wi-Fi hotspot icon is displayed at the top of your screen.
5. Tap Configure portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
6. Enter or edit the Network SSID, Security setting and Password.
7. Tap Hide my device to create a checkmark if you want your device hidden.
8. Tap Save.

You may connect to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot from other devices by following the steps provided below:

1. Activate Wi-Fi on the device that wants to connect to your phone.
2. Find [AndroidHotspotxxxx] in the Wi-Fi network list and connect to it (xxxx are the last four digits of the phone number that is offering the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot).
The connected device can now use internet through your Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Note: Activating Wi-Fi and connecting to your phone will be different depending on the type of device.

Question

Is there a firmware update coming?

I have found two singificant issues with an otherwise outstanding smartphone:

1) The wifi reception is poor compared to other wifi-enabled devices, including iPhone4
2) Vlingo is very inconsistent, sometimes freezing, sometimes never engaging, sometimes just closing out after the request is made - requiring a system shutdown and restart to start working again reliably

I am hoping there is an upcoming firmware update that addresses these items. If not, can somebody please assist with these issues?
