Question

Do you make phones anymore that will allow using a fingernail (and not skin)?

I have an older Samsung Flight phone that allows me to click on the screen with my nails or a pen, etc. The AT&T store clerk said you don't make those types of screens anymore, they only respond to skin/touch or a special tool. Is this true?

I also have the AT&T version and my understanding is that it is disabled unless the phone is rooted. Even then you still need software to operate the radio, there are a couple of basic apps out there for FM Radio. Hope that helps.

Question

Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy S2

This phone is extremely capable, but I have not heard anything about a software upgrade to the "Ice Cream Sandwich" Android OS. Why not?? Please give your loyal customers the attention they deserve. I have been checking the AT&T software update widget in the phone, but not a single update has appeared since the phone was released, so I'm depending on you guys here at Samsung!

Based on web reports Samsung said updates for the GSII will be rolled out March 1st but actual dates depend on the carriers and reports of ICS update for other devices such as the Note will occur after March, so it can be inferred that the US AT&T GSII might get the update sometime in March depending on when AT&T gives the OTA.

Kies should connect given that all cords are properly connected and the Galaxy S2 is unlocked at the home screen when connected. If it still doesn't there could be a software issue. Try updating your Pc version of Kies.

There is a problem with the Kies 2.0 software in which if you have ever connected your Galaxy S2 to Microsoft Exchange the Galaxy S2 will automatically Encrypt the phone. After being encryted the phone will no longer be able to connect to kies 2.0. I dont know if there is a bug that causes this to happen and I am not sure if Samsung knows of the issue. But after I decrypted the phone I was able to backup the phone without any problems.

Look in the upper left of your screen. You see will very small icons that remind you of icons like in the computer sys tray. The icons display a callout symbol along with a box (for text) and tape recorder (for voicemail). You can also pul/slidel down from the top to see your notifications. It would be easily if there some kind of symbol on the phone icon on the home screen.

Look for class 10 SDHC cards. THey offer the fastest transfer rates. The lower-rated classes such as class 2 are much less expensive, but may impede smooth, crisp video recording in 1080p do to the bottleneck.

Class 10 works perfectly fine. If you like to shoot a lot of video in 1080p you will definitely want a class 10 as a class 4 for example after most cases of people shooting video in 1080p for 5min or more there has been issues because the r/w on the card is not fast enough. I would recommend a class 10 either way.

Why does the S2 shut down

It is common knowledge that the S2 shuts down on it's own. This is very frustrating as calls and text messages are missed.

My wife and I both have the S2's and they are both randomly shutting down. I've completely wiped my phone out and reloaded. It seemed to have fixed it for about a day, but its back to doing it again@! It's obviously a Samsung widespread issue!

If Samsung doesn't find a fix fast, they'll lose two customers!

Mine has started this in the past two days. Just shuts down randomly, and the only way I can restart it is to pull the battery.

I am running stock ICS (4.03), build IMLK74K.CLE5, updated via KIES.

Actually the most current version of Android Gingerbread is 2.3.7. These updates are officially from Google but may not apply to all Google phones on all carriers. The carrier has the final say as to if they want to send out the update or not. The update just may not apply to your phone, but there are other methods with getting the update if you really want it. But beware if the update isn't approved for you phone you may get negative results.

At&t version of the Galaxy S 2 is currently on update 2.3.6 of Gingerbread. There could possibly be another update before the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 upgrade.

Question

hate my phone

I am running on Gingerbread.

For the past week, I've watched tutorials and read instructions on how to update my phone to the latest ice cream, jelly bean, whatever.
no luck.

my phone is three months old, runs slower than the first iPhone, requires me to reset bluetooth every time i enter car, etc. If I complained about all the issues with it, I'd be here all day.
I used Kies, but can't figure it out. How do I update this second-rate phone?

I can't back up to sms card or my computer, so I do not want to restart. And At and T will not refund my money

Updating will help a lot of those issues. Not all carriers have pushed the updates out, so lot of that depends on them
